To investigate the chemical constituents of Acer tegmentosum, the bark were collected, air-dried and extracted with 70% aqueous acetone. Then it was successively partitioned with n-hexane, $CH_2Cl_2$, EtOAc and $H_2O$. Repeated Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography on the EtOAc soluble fraction gave five phenolic compounds. Their structures were elucidated as (+)-catechin (1), (-)-epi-catechin (2), Q-epicatechin-3-O-gallate (3), gallic acid (4) and 6'-0-galloylsalidroside (5) on the basis of spectroscopic evidences using $^1H-NMR$, $^{13}C-NMR$, 2D-NMR and MS spectroscopy, (-)-epicatechin-3-Ogallate (3), gallic acid (4), 6'-Ogalloylsalidroside (5) have not been reported in this plant yet.
A superoxide anion radical scavenger isolated from Capsella bursa-pastoris was characterized by infrared (IR) spectroscopy, sugar analysis, ultraviolet (UV) spectroscopy, $^{1}H$ and $^{13}C$ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopies, and fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass analysis. The compound was assumed to be a flavonoid-O-glycoside from IR spectrum and UV absorption maxima. When the sugar composition of the compound was examined by thin layer chromatography (TLC) and gas chromatography (GC) of the acid hydrolysate, only glucose was detected. According to the results of UV spectrotroscopy by using shift reagents, the compound was supposed to be luteolin (5,7,3',4'-tetrahydroxy flavone) or chrysoeriol (5,7,4'-trihydroxy-3'-methoxy flavone) with glucose. Based on $^{1}H$- and $^{13}C-NMR$ spectroscopies, the compound was deduced as 7,4'-dihydroxy-5,3'-dimethoxy-${\alpha}$-6-c-glucosyl-${\beta}$-2"-o-glucosyl flavone. In FAB mass analysis the compound was finally characterized as 7,4'-dihydroxy-5,3'-dimethoxy-${\alpha}$-6-c-glucosyl-${\beta}$-2"-o-glucosyl flavone ($C_{29}H_{34}O_{16}$, M.W.=638).
Using solid state $^{13}C$ NMR, polybutadiene rubber vulcanizates were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed. In the filled conventional system of BR vulcanizate accelerated with TBBS, addition to the olefinic double bond and substitution in the $\alpha$ position to the double bond occurred simultaneously. Also the latter $\alpha$ substitution reaction was faster than the former addition reaction at initial reaction time. In addition, it was suggested that double bond-addition-polysulfide structures might be modified into 5-membered and 6-membered cyclic structures in overcure time. These chain modifications were correlated with the decrease in the chemical crosslink density in overcure time.
Investigation of the structures of the gangliosides has proven to be very important in the understanding of their biological roles such as regulation of differentiation and growth of cells. We used nuclear magnetic resonance spectros-copy in order to investigate the structure of GA1. In order to do this, the assignment of spectra is a prerequisite. Since GA1 does not have polar sialic acid, the spectral overlap is severe. In order to solve this problem, we use 2D NMR spectroscopy and heteronuclear 1H/13C correlated spectroscopy in this study. Here, we report the complete assignment of the proton and the carbon spectra of the GA1 in DMSO-d6-D20 (98:2, v/v). These assignments will be useful for interpreting 1H and 13C NMR data from uncharacterized oligosaccharides and for determining the linkage position, the number of sugar rings, and the sequence of new ganglioside. Amide proton in ring Ⅲ shows many interring nOes and has intramolecular hydrogen bonding. This appears to be an important factor in tertiary folding of GA1. Based on this assignment, determination of three dimensional structure of GA1 will be carried out. Studies on the conformational properties of GA1 may lead to a better understanding of the molecular basis of its functions.
Nitrogen-Vacancy (NV) center in diamond has been an emerging versatile tool for quantum sensing applications. Amongst various applications, nano-scale nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) using a single or ensemble NV centers has demonstrated promising results, opening possibility of a single molecule NMR for its chemical structural studies or multi-nuclear spin spectroscopy for quantum information science. However, there is a key challenge, which limited the spectral resolution of NMR detection using NV centers; the interrogation duration for NV-NMR detection technique has been limited by the NV sensor spin lifetime (T1 ~ 3ms), which is orders of magnitude shorter than the coherence times of nuclear spins in bulk liquid samples (T2 ~ 1s) or intrinsic 13C nuclear spins in diamond. Recent studies have shown that quantum memory technique or synchronized readout detection technique can further narrow down the spectral linewidth of NMR signal. In this short review paper, we overview basic concepts of nanoscale NMR using NV centers, and introduce further developments in high spectral resolution NV NMR studies.
The research and motor octane numbers (RON & MON, respectively) of a gasoline are dynamic measures of its quality of performance as a fuel. ASTM standard engine test methods (RON:ASTM D-2699, MON:ASTM D-2700) have been used for determining the octane numbers (RON,MON)of gasolines. But these methods have been widely criticized because their repeatability and reproducibility of the test method are very poor. In addition to these objections, the cost and operation time involved in measuring by the standard method led to searches for "non -engine" methods (Gas Chromatographic method, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopic method). In this study, we determined the carbon type structural compositions of the gasolines by $^{13}C-NMR$ spectroscopy and predicted the octane number (RON & MON) with good accuracy. we presented an assessment of the effects of molecular structural composition on octane numbers.
A series $[C_3Omim]$[X] of imidazolium cation-based ILs, with ether functional group on the alkyl side-chain have been synthesized and structure of the materials were confirmed by various techniques like $^1H$, $^{13}C$ NMR spectroscopy, MS-ESI, FTIR spectroscopy and EA. More specifically, the influence of changing the anion with same cation is carried out. The absorption capacity of $CO_2$ for ILs were evaluated at 30 and $50^{\circ}C$ at ambient pressure (0-1.6 bar). Ether functionalized ILs shows significantly high absorption capacity for $CO_2$. In general, the $CO_2$ absorption capacity of ILs increased with a rise in pressure and decreased when temperature was raised. The obtained results showed that absorption capacity reached about 0.9 mol $CO_2$ per mol of IL at $30^{\circ}C$. The most probable mechanism of interaction of $CO_2$ with ILs were investigated using FTIR spectroscopy, $^{13}C$ NMR spectroscopy and result shows that the absorption of $CO_2$ in ether functionalized ILs is a chemical process. The $CO_2$ absorption results and detailed study indicates the predominance of 1:1 mechanism, where the $CO_2$ reacts with one IL to form a carbamic acid. The $CO_2$ absorption capacity of ILs for different anions follows the trend: $BF_4$ < DCA < $PF_6$ < TfO < $Tf_2N$. Moreover, the as-synthesized ILs is selective, thermally stable, long life operational and can be recycled at a temperature of $70^{\circ}C$ or under vacuum and can be used repeatedly.
The anti-dansyl antibodies were specifically labeled with stable isotope by growing hybridoma cells in serum-free medium. Assignments of the observed carbonyl carbon resonances have been determined by using $^{13}C-{15}N$ double labeling method in order to assign the Leu resonances. However, when the identical dipeptide appears more than twice in the polypeptide sequences, we applied the proteolytic fragments in the fragment-specific method. Carboxypep-tidase B-treated antibody has also been used to assign the Lys-447 in C terminal amino acid. These unambiguously assigned carbonyl carbon resonances in antibodies are thought to be useful in elucidating not only the structure of antibodies but also the structure-function relationship in the antibody by $^{13}C$ neuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

Background: Ginsenosides, the major ingredients of Panax ginseng, have been studied for many decades in Asian countries as a result of their wide range of pharmacological properties. The less polar ginsenosides, with one or two sugar residues, are not present in nature and are produced during manufacturing processes by methods such as heating, steaming, acid hydrolysis, and enzyme reactions. $^1H$-NMR and $^{13}C$-NMR spectroscopic data for the identification of the less polar ginsenosides are often unavailable or incomplete. Methods: We isolated 21 compounds, including 10 pairs of 20(S) and 20(R) less polar ginsenosides (1-20), and an oleanane-type triterpene (21) from a processed ginseng preparation and obtained complete $^1H$-NMR and $^{13}C$-NMR spectroscopic data for the following compounds, referred to as compounds 1-21 for rapid identification: 20(S)-ginsenosides Rh2 (1), 20(R)-Rh2 (2), 20(S)-Rg3 (3), 20(R)-Rg3 (4), 6'-O-acetyl-20(S)-Rh2 [20(S)-AcetylRh2] (5), 20(R)-AcetylRh2 (6), 25-hydroxy-20(S)-Rh2 (7), 25-hydroxy-20(S)-Rh2 (8), 20(S)-Rh1 (9), 20(R)-Rh1 (10), 20(S)-Rg2 (11), 20(R)-Rg2 (12), 25-hydroxy-20(S)-Rh1 (13), 25-hydroxy-20(R)-Rh1 (14), 20(S)-AcetylRg2 (15), 20(R)-AcetylRg2 (16), Rh4 (17), Rg5 (18), Rk1 (19), 25-hydroxy-Rh4 (20), and oleanolic acid 28-O-b-D-glucopyranoside (21).
The anti-Ex-A IgG was specifically labeled with stable isotopes, DL-His-2,4-$d_2$, L-Phe-$d_5$, L-Trp-$d_5$, L-Tyr-2,6-$d_2$ and L-[1-$^{13}C$]Trp, by growing hybridoma cell in serum-free medium. By use of NMR spectroscopy with selectively labeled Fab fragment, we applied a paratope mapping on antigen-antibody complex. Assignments of the observed carbonyl carbon resonances have been determined by using $^{13}C$-$^{15}N$ double labeling method in order to assign the Trp resonances. Photo CIDNP was also applied to investigate the antigen-binding site(s) on the surface residues of antibody. We found that Trp 36, which is located at the $V_H$ domain, is an important residue to bind to Ex-A, however, two Tyr on the surface of anti-Ex-A IgG plays no crucial role to bind to antigen. On the basis of these results, we demonstrate that stable isotope-aided NMR strategy can be extended to molecular structural analyses of the complex of an Fab fragment and a protein antigen.
