Effect on active transport of cell membrane model which irradiated by radiation (방사선이 조사된 세포막 모델이 물질의 능동수송에 미치는 영향)

  • The effect on active transport of $K^+$ and $Na^+$ of cell membrane model which irradiated by radiation was investigated. The cell membrane model used in this experiment was a $Na^+$ type sulfonated copolymerized membrane of styrene and divinylbenezene. The initial flux of the ion was increased with increase of both $H^+$ ion concentration. In this experiment range(pH $0.5^{-3}$), the initial flux of $K^+$ which was not irradiated by radiation was found to be from $7.9{\times}10^{-4}$ to $7.49{\times}10^{-3}mole/cm^2{\cdot}h$ and that of Na+ from $10.6{\times}10^{-4}$ to $7.68{\times}10^{-3}mole/cm^2{\cdot}h$. The initial flux of $K^+$ which was irradiated by radiation was found to be from $35.0{\times}10^{-4}$ to $42.4{\times}10^{-3}mole/cm^2{\cdot}h$ and that of $Na^+$ from $52.0{\times}10^{-4}$ to $43.3{\times}10^{-3}mole/cm^2{\cdot}h$. The membrane was selective for $K^+$ and the ratio $K^+/Na^+$ was about 1.10. And the driving force of pH of irradiated membrane was significantly increased about 4-5 times than membrane which was not irradiated. As active transport of $K^+$ and $Na^+$ of cell membrane model were abnormal, cell damages were appeared at cell.

  • All d-homogeneous $C^*$-algebras $T^d$ over $\prod^{s_4}S^4{\times}\prod^{s_2}S^2{\times}\prod^{s_3}S^3{\times}\prod^{s_1}S^1$ are constructed. It is shown that $T^d$ are strongly Morita equivalent to $C(\prod^{s_4}S^4{\times}\prod^{s_2}S^2{\times}\prod^{s_3}S^3{\times}\prod^{s_1}S^1)$.

  • The present study was conducted to explore the anti-inflammatory action of $2-hydroxyethyl-{\beta}-undecenate$ (HPS) purified from Cumin (Cuminum cymium L.) seed against periodontitis. From the study in which human leukocyte was employed to detect the inhibiting effects of 5-lipokygenase and cyclooxygenase, enzymes generating carriers of infection like $LTB_4$ and PGs, as well as of collagenase and elastase, organ-destroying enzymes, following conclusions could be drawn: HPS was found to inhibit leukotrien $B_4$ biosynthesis by stimulating more than 97% of human polymorphonuclear leukocyte (PMNL) with addition of $5\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;M$ when $IC_{50}$ was set at $2\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;M$. Ninety-two percent of enzyme activation turned out to be inhibited when $5\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;M$ was added in a test to prove inhibiting effects of HPS against activation of PMNL 5-lipoxygenase from homogeneous humans and purified 5-lipoxygenase on the market. Besides, $IC_{50}$ for enzyme activation was valued at $2.5\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;M$, while the value of $IC_{50}$ for purified 5-lipoxygenase was $2.3\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;M$. The $IC_{50}$ values of COX-activated leukocyte and purified collagenase were $5.1\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;M$ and $2.3\;{\times}\;10^{-4}\;M$, respectively. Moreover, the value of $IC_{50}$ for activation of leukocyte collagenase was $2\;{\times}\;10^{-3}\;M$, whereas that for purified collagenase was $5\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;M$. In case of leukocyte elastase, addition of $5\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;M$ inhibited its activation by 66%. In case of purified one, however, activation of enzyme was inhibited by 25% with addition of $5\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;M$. Furthermore, the $IC_{50}$ value for activation of leukocyte elastase was revealed to be $7.5\;{\times}\;10^{-3}\;M$. From the virulence test with human gingiva cell, it was shown that, on the second day of cultivation, 47.83% of the cell had been activated when HPS was added by $5\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;M$. Even the addition of HPS by $1\;{\times}\;10^{-2}\;M$ featured 68.53% of cell activation, suggesting relatively strong toxicity of the substance against gingiva cell.

  • In this paper, we significantly reduces the amount of computation for intra 16$\times$16 mode decision in H.264 by applying the fast algorithm, which obtains the transformed prediction residual with fewer computations. By extending the existing intra 4$\times$4 mode decision, we propose the new algorithm for fast intra 16$\times$16 mode decision. The proposed algorithm uses partial transform coefficients which consist of one DC and three adjacent AC coefficients after 4$\times$4 transform in the intra 16$\times$16 mode decision. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can reduce computations up to 50% in the intra 16$\times$16 mode decision process with unnoticeable degradation.

Microbiological Population of Vibrio parahaemolyticus in Oysters of Wholesale Seafood Markets (시판 굴의 유통조건에 따른 장염비브리오균의 미생물학적 변화)

  • The populations of V. parahaemolyticus were enumerated in oysters collected in wholesale seafood markets in Seoul and tested in various possible condition. The populations of oysters soled in the markets were ranged $<2\sim1.4\times10^6$ MPN/100 g from April to November in 2005. In the case of oysters added with V. parahaemolyticus of $4\times10^3$ CFU/100 g, the highest population numbers were $1.4\times10^7$ CFU/100 g, $5.4\times10^5$ CFU/100 g and $2.7\times10^4$ CFU/100 g at $36^{\circ}C$ after culturing for 15 hours, at $25^{\circ}C$ after 15 hours and at $4^{\circ}C$ after 15 hours, respectively. But the difference of the populations of V. parahaemolticus in oysters stored in the icebox with ice for bulked sale and displayed in stalls on ice for the small packaged sale was not significant. In the case of oysters carried with ambient temperature at $30.8^{\circ}C$, the V. parahaemolyticus density was dramatically increased from $2.7\times10^5$ to $1.4\times10^8$ MPN/100 g. It was indicated it is important to carry the oysters to home with ice after purchase. Even after the washing two times with 21 tap water, the common cooking method in Korea was not greately make the decrease of V. parahaemolyticus density from $1.4\times10^8$ MPN/100 g to $9.0\times10^5$ MPN/100 g. So it is noticed to stored in low temperature after cooking, especially in hot seasons.

  • File fish fillets collected from markets were analyzed for their microbial load and microflora, resulting in the level of aerobic mesophiles ranged from $3.5{\times}10^3$ to $1.1{\times}10^8CFU/g$, total coliforms from less than 2.3 to $4.6{\times}10^5MPN/g$, fecal coliforms from 1ess than 2.3 to $1.1{\times}10^5MPN/g$, Enterobacteriaceae from $3{\times}10$ to $4.4{\times}10^5CFU/g$ and fecal Streptococci from $1.6{\times}10^2$ to $7.6{\times}10^6CFU/g$ having Staphylococcus hominis, Staphylococcus hemolyticus, Micrococcus varians, Micrococcus luteus and Streptococcus cremoris as constituent microorganisms of aerobic mesophiles, Escherichia coli and Proteus rettgeri of Family Enterobacteriaceae, and Streptococcus faecium and Streptococcus avium of fecal Streptococci.

A Study on Boundary Layer Behavior of an NACA 0012 Airfoil (NACA 0012 에어포일의 경계층 거동에 관한 연구)

  • A study on the boundary layer behavior of an NACA 0012 airfoil at low Reynolds numbers was investigated in order to gain knowledge of a boundary layer that might be employed in a turbine blade and MAVs. A hot-wire anemometer was used to measure the boundary layer of an NACA 0012 airfoil at static angles of attack ${\alpha}$=$0^{\circ}$, $3^{\circ}$, and $6^{\circ}$, and Reynolds Numbers Re=$2.3{\times}10^4$, $3.3{\times}10^4$, and $4.8{\times}10^4$. The results of this study show that the laminar boundary layer on the airfoil surface is attached to the surface at ${\alpha}$=$0^{\circ}$, and the laminar separation of the boundary layer on the airfoil surface occurs at ${\alpha}$=$3^{\circ}$. Furthermore, the reattachment of the boundary layer in the present study occurs for the cases of Re=$3.3{\times}10^4$ and Re=$4.8{\times}10^4$at ${\alpha}$=$6^{\circ}$.

  • The temperature effects on the equilibria between polymolybdatd anions in 1M sodium perchlorate solution has been investigated in the temperature range of 20~50$^{\circ}$C. The polymolybdate anions formed are heptamolybdate ($Mo_7O_{24}^{6-}$) ions and the protonized forms of heptamolybdate ions ($H_LMo_7O_{24}^{(6-L)-}$). The equilibrium constants for the formation of heptamolybdate ions calculated by Sillen's method are as follow;$8H^{+}+7MoO_4^{2-}=Mo_7O_{24}^{6-}+4H_2O$, $k_{7.8}=2.77{\times}10^{53}:20^{\circ}C= 9.29{\times}10^{51}:40^{\circ}C$,$k_{7.8}= 4.22{\times}10^{52}:30^{\circ}C = 9.29{\times}10^{51}:50^{\circ}C$ The enthalpy change for calculated for the above reaction is 31.51 kcal/mole. A method of calculation of the equilibrium constants for the formation of protonized heptamolybdate ions from heptamolybdate ions and hydrogen ions has been derived. The equilibrium constants calculated for the formation of protonized heptamolybdate ions are as follow; $ LH^++ Mo_7O_{24}^{-6} = H_LMo_7O_{24}^{(6-L)-} : L = 1\;or\;2$, $k_1 = 2.31{\times}10^4=2.53{\times}10^4=2.76{\times}10^4= 3.10{\times}10^4$, $k_2 = 6.19{\times}10^7\;20^{\circ}C = 7.80{\times}10^7\;30^{\circ}C = 1.22{\times}10^8\;40^{\circ}C = 2.03{\times}10^8\;50^{\circ}C$The enthalpy change for the following step reactions are as follow;$H^{+}+Mo_7O_{24}^{6-}= HMo_7O_{24}^{5-}\;{\Delta}H^{\circ}=1.90 kcal/mole$, $2H^{+}+Mo_7O_{24}^{6-}=H_2Mo_7O_{24}^{4-}\;{\Delta}H^{\circ}=7.50kcal/mole$

  • Nitinol wires are now widely used in the orthodontic field because of their unique shape memory effect and superelasticity. But sometimes Nitinol wires are deformed in clinical use. Fatigue load is possible cause of Nitinol deformation. To determine the effect of fatigue load to the mechanical properties of Nitinol, various fatigue cycle$(1\times10^4,\;2\times10^4,\;3\times10^4,\;4\times10^4,\;5\times10^4,\;1\times10^5)$ were applied to $0.017\times0.025$ inch Nitinol. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. Applied load increased as fatigue cycle increased in three point bending test. 2. Maximum tensile strength and elongation decreased as fatigue cycle increased. 3. Tn SEM, brittle fracture pattern was increased when fatigue cycle increased.

  • In this paper we fabricated microchip antenna operating in bluetooth frequency bands(2.402∼2.480GHz). The antenna has a size of about 54mm${\times}419mm${\times}40.8mm, giving a total bluetooth PCB for support and chip of about 11mm${\times}44mm${\times}41.6mm. Bandwidth of the designed and fabricated chip antenna for bruetooth is 10.71 % at the resonated frequency of 2.45GHz and the resonant frequency and bandwidth versus change of any arbitrary feed point is observed. also, E-plane and H-plane in the Measured radiation pattern characteristic of chip antenna is compared and analyzed.
