  • We compared the ingredients present in freeze-dried ground food samples with those present in hot air-dried and ambient ground food samples to optimize processing conditions for preserving nutrients in and for improving the ingestion of different foods. The freeze-dried ground sample of black bean showed 4.57% higher retention rate than the ambient ground sample of black bean. Mineral content was also significantly different between these two samples. Moreover, the freeze-dried ground sample of black bean contained 11.54% higher content of ${\beta}$-carotene, a precursor of vitamin A, than the ambient ground sample of black bean. Total anthocyanin content was 453.49 mg in the freeze-dried ground sample of Aronia compared with 158.98 mg in the ambient ground sample of Aronia. Contents of ${\beta}$-carotene and niacin increased by 129.47% and 439.39%, respectively, in the freeze-dried ground sample of grapefruit. Retention rates of proteins, carbohydrates, and niacin were 107.74%, 103.87%, and 156.52%, respectively, in the freeze-dried ground sample of germinated brown rice. Protein digestibility increased by 120.5% and 101.14% in the freeze-dried ground samples of Aronia and black bean, respectively, but did not increase in the freeze-dried ground samples of grapefruit and germinated brown rice.

  • How the different thickness of thin films of black-P has an effect on its electronic band structure and structure has been studied by using SIESTA code. Although the interaction between the thin films has something to do with band reduction, it does not affect the inter-atomic distance between two nearest neighbour puckered layers.

  • Low-structure black has proved to be a useful addition to the group of reinforcing fillers, allowing greater compounding flexibility and economy. Quite apart from the quality advantages, the volume used to date represents a considerable dollar saving by the rubber industry. Low-structure has also filled a need in a number of critical applications, and promises to become of increasing importance.

  • In diamond synthesis by metal film growth method under high pressure and high temperature, the nucleation and growth of diamond was observed dependent on the carbon source variation from graphite powder to the heat treated powders of lamp black carbon. At the low driving force condition near equilibrium pressure and temperature line, nucleation of diamond did not occur but growth of seed diamond appeared in the synthesis from lamp black carbon while both nucleation and growth of diamond took place in the synthesis from graphite. Growth morphology change of diamond occurred from cubo-octahedron to octahedron in the synthesis from graphite but very irregular growth of seed diamond occurred in the synthesis from lamp block carbon. Lamp black carbon transformed to recrystallized graphite first and very nucleation of diamond was observed on the recrystallized graphite surface. Growth morphology of diamond on the recrystallized graphite was clear cubo-octahedron even at higher pressure departure condition from equilibrium pressure and temperature line.

  • We present an accurate and efficient numerical method for solving the Black-Scholes equation. The method uses an adaptive grid technique which is based on a far-field boundary position and the Peclet condition. We present the algorithm for the automatic adaptive grid generation: First, we determine a priori suitable far-field boundary location using the mathematical model parameters. Second, generate the uniform fine grid around the non-smooth point of the payoff and a non-uniform grid in the remaining regions. Numerical tests are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. The results show that the computational time is reduced substantially with the accuracy being maintained.

  • Black chokeberry, Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) Elliott, is commonly used as a source of jam and jelly in Korea and worldwide. A fungal isolate EML-CCB6 was isolated from the decaying fruit of black chokeberry. Based on the morphological characteristics and rDNA internal transcribed spacer sequence analysis, the isolate was identified as Fusarium tricinctum (Corda) Sacc. This is the first report of post-harvest fruit rot of black chokeberry caused by F. tricinctum in Korea.
