Aim & Scope
The Journal of Acupuncture Research (JAR), founded in 1983, is the official international journal of the Korean Acupuncture & Moxibustion Medicine Society. Manuscripts undergo stringent peer review; those accepted for publication are published open access. JAR is published quarterly in February, May, August, and November. The journal, by providing a platform for dissemination and discussion, aims to strengthen the scientific understanding of the safety and effectiveness (efficacy) of acupuncture and related therapies in integrative medicine as well as in traditional medicine. There is a long history of research on acupuncture. Work that takes into account historical empirical evidence, incorporating a broad evidence-based approach to acupuncture, and that is of interest and relevance to those involved in the practice, research, and education of acupuncture-based therapies in health care would be welcome. JAR considers original articles, review articles, case reports, short communications and letters on: • Acupuncture (electroacupuncture, laser acupuncture, acupotomy, embedding therapy, acupuncture needling, the development of new acupuncture techniques, exploration of new acupoints) • moxibustion • cupping • pharmacopuncture (herbal acupuncture, acupoint injection, aqua-acupuncture) • the meridian system and other meridian-related studies (meridian diagnosis, acupressure, chuna/tuina, herbal medicine)
