냉동 치료의 장점은 비침습적이며 통증이 없고 재치료가 가능하기 때문에 수술 고위험군, 재발환자 등에서 국소암 치료로서 적용될 수 있다는 점이다. 외부영상과 굴곡내시경을 통하여 위치를 파악하고 내시경으로 표적부위만을 냉동하기 때문에 주변조직의 손상이 거의 없으며 심폐 기능에 큰 위험을 주지 않는다. 처음 치료 후에도 치료를 한 부위나 다른 부위에도 여러 번의 추가적 치료가 가능하므로 치료로 불완전한 부분을 추가적으로 치료를 하여 좋은 결과를 얻을 수 있다. 냉동 수술의 특성을 잘 이용하여 적절한 환자에게 적용한다면, 기관-기관지의 폐색을 일으키는 악성 종양 환자들에게 좋은 치료방법의 하나라고 생각된다.

Boerhaave's syndrome is a very fatal condition occuring esophageal rupture during emesis and has the worst prognosis of the esophageal perforation. From May 2007 to March 2012 11 patients underwent surgical treatment for Boerhaave's syndrome at Inje University Sanggye Paik Hospital. There were 11 males whose mean age was 49.9 years ranging from 42 to 59. 2 cases of primary closure was performed and 9 cases of anastomosis using EEA (Esophago-Enteric Anastomisis) stapler. Mean operation time was 154.4 minutes and one patient who undergone primary repair died because of mediastinitis and sepsis on $35^{th}$ post-operative day. There was no leakage at other patients. Post-operative complication was one operative wound infection and one post-operative bleeding which was treated completely. Surgical treatment for Boerhaave's syndrome using EEA stapler is simple and effective technique but further studies with large number of cases should be carried out for better outcome.

Objective This study was conducted to gather basic information of 3D CT in detecting and gaining information of esophageal foreign body (FB) models. Materials and Methods The chest model was made using PVC bottle, rubber balloon and plaster. Fish bone, Persimmon stone were used to mimic foreign bodies of esophageal model. The foreign body models were inserted into the balloon removing air from it and the balloon was sealed. The esophageal FB model was inserted into the chest model. The remaining space in the chest model was filled with fish paste and water to simulate soft tissue around esophagus. CT of chest model was reconstructed three-dimensionally by Rapidia software to make images of foreign body models. The axial CT, MPR image and VOI image were compared with real foreign body materials as to shape, size, location and orientation. Results Esophageal FB models were easily made. CT data gave good 3D images and showed realistic foreign body materials. Conclusion The results indicate the usefulness of 3D CT technique to help in diagnosis of esophageal foreign body models.

Carcinoma arising in a thyroglossal duct cyst is a not common disease. It is detected in approximately 1% of thyroglossal duct cyst, therefore the clinical manifestation of the patient with carcinoma is undistinguishable from the common cystic lesion. Clinically, it may be confounded with a benign lesion and diagnosed after operation. The mainstream of treatment is the Sistrunk operation, however, there is no definite agreement regarding further treatment in addition to an excision of the cyst. The role of total thyroidectomy and the radioactive iodine therapy have been discussed for adjuvant treatment. We have experienced four cases of papillary carcinoma arising in thyroglossal duct cyst. In the three of the cases, the patients underwent Sistrunk operation, while the other one had additional total thyroidectomy and postoperative radioactive iodine therapy. There was no complication in the perioperative period and no signs of recurrence or metastasis during follow-up period.

As benign tumor originating in Schwann cells of nerve sheath, Schwannoma can rise in any site involving cranial nerve, sympathetic nerves, peripheral nerves excepting optic nerves and olfactory nerves. Schwannoma rarely occurs in trachea, and although can appear in any part, most often seen in the lower third of the trachea. Here, we reported a case of intra-tracheal schwannoma misdiagnosed and treated as bronchial asthma, later identified and successfully excised through an external approach.
