For the purpose of processing weather data for air conditioning equipment de sign in Busan area Korea, this study collected weather observations made by Busan weather Administration from 1970 to 2003, and then established external conditions for heating and air-conditioning design. For changes of temperature in external conditions for design, the highest temperature had little changed, whereas the lowest had been on the rise as the years went by through the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, but insolation has a little lessened. Absolute humidity does not show a significant change but an incessant rise.

Because the usage of CFC and HCFC based refrigerants are restricted due to the depletion of ozone layer, the $NH_3$ gas, in the experiment is evaluated to the performance characteristics for the superheat control to improve the energy efficiency. The experiment is carried out about the condensing pressure of refrigeration system from 1,500 kPa to 1,600 kPa through the degree of superheat from 0 to $10^{\circ}C$ at each condensing pressure. As a result, in the case of shell and tube type of heat exchanger, the COP is more efficient than other cases at the degree of superheat $1^{\circ}C$ at each condensing pressure. In the case of shell and disk type of heat exchanger, the COP is the most efficient at the degree of superheat 0.

This study was performed to investigate the heat transfer characteristics of the circular fin-tube heat exchanger. This paper contains the experimental data for the seven kinds of fin geometries. The correlation of Stasiulevicius agreed with the experimental data at high Reynolds number, however not well at low Reynolds number. The Nusselt number was well correlated with Graetz number, and showed a transition near Gz=10. An empirical correlation proposed in the present study agreed well with the experimental data.

The characteristics of heat transfer and pressure drop have been investigated experimentally during gas-cooling process of carbon dioxide. The results of this study are useful information in the design of a heat exchanger of $CO_2$ refrigerator. The test section consists of 6 series of copper tube, 4.15 and 2.18mm ID, respectively. The inlet temperature, the operating pressure, and the mass flux are varied in the range of $80{\sim}120^{\circ}C,\;{7\sim}10MPa,\;and\;400{\sim}1,900kg/m^2s$, respectively. The heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$ is affected by temperature, inlet pressure, and mass flux of $CO_2$. At the maximum HTC, the temperature of $CO_2$ nearly accords with the psuedocritical temperature. It is found that the pressure drop is substantially affected by mass flux and inlet pressure of $CO_2$ . The results have been compared with those of previous work. The heat transfer correlation at the gas-cooling process has been also suggested which predicts within the error of 20%.

Two-phase flow through a T-junction has been studied by numerous researchers so far. The dividing characteristics of the gas and liquid phases at the T-junction are very complicated due to a lot of related variables. The prediction models have been suggested by using experimental data for a specific condition or working fluid. But, they showed the application limitation for the most of the other conditions or fluids. Since most of them are applicable for their own experimental range, the generalized model for the wide range of conditions and fluids is needed. Even though it's not available now, some of the models developed for air-water flow at a T-junction might be applicable for the part of refrigerants with some modifications. Especially, for the two-phase flow of refrigerants at the T-junction, very few studies have been performed. Further experimental study is required to be performed for the wide range of test conditions and fluids to predict properly the two-phase flow distribution and phase separation through the T-junction.
