마늘의 육종의 기초자료를 얻고져 주요산지 4지역에서 국내 지방종의 구 특성을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 지방종의 인편수는 4에서 15쪽까지 널리 분포하였으나 6-8 쪽마늘이 70%이상을 점하였다. 국내수집종의 인편무게는 1에서 7.6g까지 넓게 분포하였으나 대부분은 3g이상이 60%이상을 차지하였다. 국내수집종의 인편 평균무게는 수집지역에 따라 차이가 있었으나 대부분이 6-8쪽 마늘에서 가장 무거웠다. 국내수집종의 구중은 인편수가 증가할수록 무거웠다.

초장, 엽수, 경수, 경직경, 엽장, 엽폭, 근경생산량을 평가하기위하여 수집 한 94 clone은 경수와 근경생산량에서 유용한 변이를 보여주었다. 초장, 엽수, 엽장, 엽폭, 경직경은 약간의 변이가 관찰되었다. 작물학적 특성간의 단순상관은 근경생산량과 정의 상관을 보여주었고 엽수, 초장, 경직경은 근경생산량과 고도의 정의 상관을 보여주었다. 경로계수분석을 통하여 경수, 엽수, 경직경순으로 근경생산에 직접효과를 준다는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 엽수를 통한 초장의 간접효과가 가장 크게 나타났고, 엽수를 통한 엽장, 엽폭과 경직경을 통한 초장, 엽장, 엽폭에서도 간접효과가 관찰되었다. 선발의 관점에서 볼 때, 초장, 엽수, 경수와 같은 특성들은 좋은 유전형을 선발하기에 적합하다고 여겨진다.

태안해안(泰安海岸) 국립공원(國立公園) 지역의 곰솔나무림의 생태적인 특징을 밝히기 위하여 1996년 7월부터 9월 사이에 $relev{\acute{e}}$ method에 의하여 33개소를 선정하고 $10m{\times}10m$의 방형구를 설치하여 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1 본 지역에서 중요치(重要値)가 높은 종(種)은 곰솔, 떡갈나무, 아까시나무, 굴피나무, 소사나무, 자귀나무, 중공솔, 졸참나무 등(等)의 순(順)이다. 2. 곰솔의 재적 성장률은 0.6%~10.5%로 평균 3.8%이었다. 3 토양의 화학적 특성은 pH는 4.8~6.3, 유기물함량은 1.51~11.79%, 유효인산은 2.5~14.5ppm, 치환성 Ca, Mg, K는 각각 1.3~6.6, 0.4~2.6, 0.23~1.89(me/100g)이다.

파, 양파, 부추, 달래 등을 가해하는 해충인 파좀나방의 발육상황을 파악하기 위해서 파를 기주로 하여 항온기에서 각온도별 개체사육에 의해 나타난 각 태별 발육기간, 산란수, 성충수명 등을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 알기간은 $15^{\circ}C$에서 10.5일, $20^{\circ}C$에서 5.6일, $25^{\circ}C$에서 4.8일로 $20{\sim}25^{\circ}C$에서는 큰 차이가 없었다. 2. 유충기간은 각 온도별 차이가 현저하여 $15^{\circ}C$에서 25.5일, $20^{\circ}C$에서 10.8일, $25^{\circ}C$에서 7.5일이었다. 3. 번데기기간은 $15^{\circ}C$에서 13.3일, $20^{\circ}C$에서 9.0일, $25^{\circ}C$에서 7.6일이었다. 4. 성충의 수명은 $15^{\circ}C$에서 9.8일, $20^{\circ}C$에서 8.5일, $25^{\circ}C$에서 8.4일, $30^{\circ}C$에서 5일로 나타났다. 5. $30^{\circ}C$에서는 알, 유충발육이 극히 부진하였고, 성충의 수명도 다른 실험온도($15{\sim}25^{\circ}C$)에서 보다 짧았다. 6. 암컷 한마리당 산란수는 $15^{\circ}C$에서 평균 113개, $20^{\circ}C$에서 평균 113개, $25^{\circ}C$에서 평균 134개였다. 7. 각온도별 1세대에 소요되는 기간은 $15^{\circ}C$에서 55.6일, $20^{\circ}C$에서 30.5일, $25^{\circ}C$에서 24.8일로 나타났으며, 파좀나방 발육기간인 4월하순부터 10월하순까지의 수원, 대전, 광주의 평균기온은 $19.9{\sim}20.8^{\circ}C$로서 $20^{\circ}C$ 내외이기 때문에 야외포장에서 1년에 6세대 발생될 것으로 고려된다.

전국 일원의 시설 재배 농가 중 353 농가를 방문하여 해충 및 천적의 분포를 조사한 결과 전체 조사 농가의 73%에서 총 52종의 해충이 발생되고 있었으며 이 중 꽃노랑총채벌레, 점박이응애, 온실가루이, 목화진딧물, 복숭아혹진딧물 등이 주요 해충으로 조사되었다. 천적의 발생은 아주 미미하였으나 방문 농가의 11%인 40개소의 시설재배 농사에서 확인하였으며 이는 해충이 발생한 농가의 약 17%에서 볼 수 있었다. 주요 천적으로는 전체 조사 천적 중 진디벌류가 63%, 무당벌레류가 20%, 애꽃노린재류가 8%를 차지하였으며 이들 이외에도 꽃등에류, 포식응애류, 풀잠자리류, 좀벌류, 혹파리류가 채집되었다. 또한 주요 작물별 해충과 천적의 발생정도를 살펴본 결과 토마토에서는 온실가루이, 오이에서는 꽃노랑총채벌레, 목화진딧물, 참외 및 수박에서는 꽃노랑총채벌레와 응애류, 고추에서는 복숭아혹진딧물과 꽃노랑총채벌레, 딸기에서는 응애류와 진딧물류 등이 주요해충으로 조사되었다.

본 연구는 구기자 나무 재배중에 속아서 폐기하고있는 대량의 구기자 나무순에서 딴 구기엽을 이용하여 6가지 방법으로 차류를 제조하여 각종 방법으로 열탕 추출한 용액의 가용성 고형물 함량을 비롯한 몇가지 이화학적 성질과 기호성을 검토하였고 기호성이 가장 우수한 덖음차 중에 함유되어 있는 주요 맛성분을 측정한 결과는 다음과 같았다. 원료로 사용한 구기엽의 일반화학 성분은 수분 87.71%, 조지방 0.69%, 조단백질 4.77%, 조섬유 2.13%, 탄수화물 3.11% 및 회분 1.59%를 나타내었다. 시험제조한 6종의 차류를 열탕으로 추출하여 몇 가지 이화학적 성질을 측정 비교하였을 때 차의 종류와 추출방법에 따라 약간의 차이를 나타냈으나 관능검사에 의하여 기호성을 검토한 결과, 덖음차가 특출하였으며 통계처리 결과 시판 설록차와 차이가 인정되지 않았다. 기호성이 가장 우수한 덖음차를 열탕으로 추출하여 주요 맛성분 함량을 측정한 결과, 18종의 유리아미노산이 동정되었고 그들 중 proline(170.15mg%)과 glutamic acid(112.34mg%)의 함량이 특히 많았고 유리당으로서는 glucose(1.07%), maltose(0.87%), sucrose(0.63%) 및 fructose(0.55%)의 순으로 함유되어 있었고 유기산으로서는 citric acid(337.43mg%)가 대부분이었고 malonic acid(54.17mg%), oxalic acid(48.66mg%), malic acid(27.41mg%), succinic acid(4.48mg%), fumaric acid(1.08mg%), lactic acid(FT)의 순으로 함유되어 있었다.

발효사료로 사육한 돈육의 이화학적 성질을 규명한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 발효사료 처리돈육은 실험돈육에 비해 일반성분에서 지방함량이 낮고 단백질함량이 높아 품질향상에 도움이 인정되었다. 2) 시료 돈육별 산패도 차이는 인정되지 않았으나, 색도는 실험돈육들보다 뚜렷하여 상품 가치가 인정되었다. 3) 지방산 조성에서 Oleic acid가 가장 많이 분포되어 있었으며 포화지방산과 불포화 지방산의 조성비는 보통육 38.3% : 59.9%, 고급육 40.8% 57.8%, 발효사료 처리육 36.3% : 62.0%의 비율이었고, 필수지방산 함량은 보통육14%, 고급이 11.2%, 발효사료 처리육이 16.7%이었다. 4) 아미노산조성은 glutamic acid가 가장 많았고 필수아미노산 비율은 보통육과 발효사료 처리육이 39%, 고급육이 41% 이었다. 5) 시료별 무기질 함량 차이는 거의 없었으며 육즙 추출에 의한 보수력이 발효사료 처리육은 92%로 높게 나타났으며, 가열감량도 15.6%로 가공 및 조리에 다른 돈육보다 이용성이 높게 나타났다.

맥반석 (Holon Killer Sand, Letsoken, Nikko Co.)의 성분분석 및 그 추출물의 항균활성을 실험한 결과는 다음과 같다. 실험에 사용한 맥반석의 무기질 조성은 아연(Zn)이 가장 많이 함유되어 있었으나 인체에 유해성 무기성분은 함유되어 있지 않았다. 항균활성 실험에서 24시간 배양한 세균의 활성은 Bacillus subtilis가 가장 크게 나타났으며, 다음은 Stapylococcus aureus순이었고, Stapylococcus mutans는 항균력이 거의 없었다. 또한 각 세균에 대한 추출물 농도별 항균활성은 추출물의 농도에 따라 강한 항균활성을 나타내었다. 한편 수삼 부패균을 분류하여 이에 대한 맥반석 추출물의 항균활성을 측정한 결과 수삼 부패균에 대하여 맥반석 추출물은 항균활성이 인정되었다.

Hirudin is a potent thrombin inhibitor originally derived from the medicinal leech. Leeches were commonly used at the turn of the century for bloodletting and are still used today in some countries. So, hirudin is being developed as a alternative to heparin which has several shortcomings. This study is intended to analyze R&D trends, potential market for hirudin and existing anticoagulant drug market. Anticoagulant drug market in Korea is estimated by over 1,200 billion won in 2010 and revenues in the world market are forecasted to reach 1.62 billion dollar in 1999.

This study is aimed at identifying the value of marginal products(VMP) of agricultural labor, capital and land. The resources are the major portion of input costs of agricultural projects. To appraise economic feasibility of agricultural projects, the real value of the resources would be estimated by VMP of the inputs rather than by distorted actual market prices such as rural wages, rent and interest. To convert the market wage rate into shadow wage rate, covertion factor of 0.90 would be appicable based on the study results. To evaluate the right of way and compensation, VMP of land is recommendable to apply in land pricing rather than actural land rent prevailing in rural area which has been underrated on account of labor shortage and difficulty of farming. Discount rate as a opportunity cost of capital should be applied 7-8% considering the VMP of capital and interest rate of foreign loan from IBRD and ADB. For the successful appraisal of the agricultural projects, the recommendation of this study would be applied in the future.

Modem biotechnology, specifically for the use of recombinant DNA(rDNA), has brought about a revolution in our ability to control and use life forms. Most of the world's leading countries view biotechnology as the key scientific and industrial discipline for the 21st century and are making all - out efforts for scientific and technological advance in the related fields. The impact of biotechnology on the nation's economy has been growing explosively as such diverse industries invested increasingly on the fruits of biotechnological research. However, such an impact could only be realized through concerted endeavours from the government to private sectors for guarantee of the successful technological advances in this scientific area. There are risks associated with every technology; the classical application of biotechnology has not been exempt. For example, the introduction of bio-tech to agriculture might be destroied the ecosystems. Therefore, to increase the research budgets by the government and private sectors, we need to identify the public attitudes and preference on the acceptance of bio-technology and on the potential economic value of it. For the study, we surveied 959 persons including students enrolled in college of agriculture, Chungnam National University. And to measure the economic value of biotechnology, we use the Contingent Valuation Method(CVM) which is considered as the new approaching method in the bio-technology field.

This paper is aimed to study on sales promotion strategies for the increment of farm income by cultivating Boxthron in Chongyang Area. Marketing Survey was done in Chongyang Boxthron market, Kyoung-dong herb market in Seoul. The results are as follows ; Reviewing the Boxthron market prices, the price of direct transaction was the highest one and that of Agricultural Cooperatives was next one, Chongyang market price was lowest one. Therefore, the efforts including exclusive labeling, high class packing strategies of Boxthron with lower pollution would be necessary. The seasonal variation Boxthron prices were lowest in Aug.-Sept., harvesting season, and highest in april-june prices, off-crop season. Farmers have sold 45% of all products in Aug.-Oct. at lowest price and the remaining 15% of that sold in april-june at the highest prices. On account of the above reasons, loan for Boxthron production, government purchasing and storage program of it especially in harvesting season from Aug. to Oct. should be adopted to increase Boxthron producer income. Finally, the strategies for sales promotion, enforcement of government supporting activities including export strategies and the development of new processed products of Boxthron should be propelled considering the products cycle.

Producing organic farm products is one of the high-payoff farming practices considering the rapid increase of consumer's purchasing power. The purpose of this study is to identify the optimal organic farming system in relation to farm income. To cope with the above objectives, present farming conditions and profitability of 15 farmers producing organic products including rice and leaf vegetables as lettuse and cabbage were surveyed in Hongsung and Ahsan Gun, Chungnam Province. Based on the surveyed data, maximization of organic farm income were analyzed under the constrained conditions such as limited monthly labour inputs and competitive use of land by Linear Programming Model. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. 1. In the profitability analysis of 15 farmers producing organic products, rice farmers could earn their farm income more than that of conventional farmers by 50%. On the other hand, the controlled lettuce farmers could get more about 100% than that of it. But the controlled cabbage farm could get more about 40% of it. These organic farm products were saled at high prices comparing with the prices of conventional farm products by 170% ~ 230% even though the crop yields produced by organic materials had decreased. 2. According to the labor requirement of the organically produced crops, rice cultivation was needed more labour inputs than the conventional farming method by 130%. On the other hand lettuce and cabbage could saved labour requirement by 40% and 80% of those respectively. Especially for the rice cultivation concern, higher labor requirement was due to the activities as organic fertilization, soil preparation and pest and weed controll, etc. 3. With the surveyed data from farmers who produced farm commodities, L.P. analysis was implemented to find out the optimul farming system and the maximum income. According to the results of L.P. analysis, 58% of total farm income could get more than the conventional farming system In the case of rice cultivation, one ha of paddy was recommendable to save more labour inputs than the controlled leaf vegetables such as lettuse and cabbage. However, in the controlled leaf vegatables, only 73% of total upland equivalent to 0.3 ha should be cultivated under the condition of labor shortage as the restricted 4 workers. And increasing the size of hogs raising should be recommened to achieve self-sufficiency of organic fertilizer. As pointed out the possibility of organic farming, present farmers producing organic farm products could be able to maximize their income by expanding organic farm size with regard to all conditions of our organic industry. Of course, there are many difficulties in the course of developing organic agriculture. So Government should effort to support the development of our organic agriculture considering the various aspects of production, marketing, Quality certification of organic produces.

Since domestic and international environments has changed rapidly, Korean primary agricultural coopratives are expected to face many difficulties in business management, especially marketing and banking business. Therefore, it is necessary to reframe the exitsting structure of primary agricultural cooperatives so as to enhance the competitiveness in terms of management efficiency. However, There are many problems to be solved such as overnumbered staffs compared with decreasing number of farming population, unbalanced ratio between executive officials and lower-level officials, complexity of position-ranking system resulting from unclearness of official title and office regulations, and management right excessively concentrated on cooperative leader. The suggested measures for such problems are as follows; 1) attaining the economy size of agricultural cooperaitves in line with decreasing rural community, 2) fostering the on-the job training programs and the personnel administration according to job competency, 3) merging the small primary cooperatives into larger units with efficiency, 4) specializing the cooperative business based on their regional comparative advantage, 5) maintaining the rational adjustment between elected cooperative leader's management right and responsibility.
