Objectives : To evaluate the evidence supporting the effectiveness of Chuna manual therapy for functional dyspepsia. Methods : We conducted search across the 3 electronic databases (Pubmed, CAJ and Oasis) to find all of randomized controlled clinical trials(RCTs) that used Chuna manual therapy as a treatment for functional dyspepsia. The methodological quality of each RCT was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool. Results : Thirteen RCTs met our inclusion criteria. The meta-analysis showed positive results for the use of Chuna manual therapy combined with medication treatments in terms of the efficacy rate when compared to medication treatments alone. Positive results were also obtained, in terms of the efficacy rate, when comparing Chuna manual therapy combined with medication plus specific electromagnetic therapy to medication treatments alone. Conclusions : Our systematic review found encouraging but limited evidence of Chuna manual therapy for functional dyspepsia. However, to obtain stronger evidence without the drawbacks of trial design and the quality of studies, we recommend sham-controlled RCTs or comparative effectiveness research to test the effectiveness of Chuna manual therapy.

Objectives : The aim of this systemic review was to summarize and compare adverse effect of spinal manipulation at domestic and abroad. Methods : We searched articles in Korean databases and Pubmed. We selected and analysed the articles met inclusion criteria. Results : 51 cases were included. 32 cases in Pubmed show that adverse effect related to cervical rotation and high velocity low amplitude(HVLA) thrust manipulation. It leads to severe adverse effect and sequela about vascular. While, 19 cases in Korean articles shows that domestic spinal manipulation is more safe becase of lower use of high velocity low amplitude(HVLA) thrust. It leads to low incidence of vascular adverse effect and no sequela. Conclusions : We concluded that Chuna is difficult manipulation because of possibility of adverse effect. Chuna is recommended to be taken by licensed medical practitioners who are skilled and complete the regular curriculum. Further studies like meta analysis about spinal manipulation are needed to estimate incidence of adverse effect. And adverse effects are going to be collected continually through randomized controlled trials(RCT) related to spinal manipulation.

Objectives : To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of Flexible brace(SpineCor Brace). Methods : CNKI, PubMed databases and Korean Journal of Oriental Medicine in 1999-2014 were searched for studies on SpineCor. This study researched 4 randomized controlled trial studies. Results : The results suggested that the SpineCor brace reduced the probability of the progression of early idiopathic scoliosis comparing with its natural history or rigid brace. But some studies showed that there is no significant difference between SpineCor and rigid brace. Conclusions : These results indicate that SpineCor have obvious effects on treatment of scoliosis and no adverse reactions, therefore we need to study more researches on SpineCor.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is body parameters characteristics through posture analysis system of musculoskeletal problem patient Methods : Posture analysis system were performed for 164 patients to measure body parameters such as Q-angle, body inclination, neck inclination, PCMT(posterior cervical muscle tension), Knee flexion and posture balance. Statistical analysis using statistical analysis techniques and Pearson correlation coefficients was performed to assess the body parameters obtained by posture analysis system. Results : More than half of people out of 164 reported low back pain, 34.8% of the total was found to have neck pain. There was not a significant difference between genders from the characteristics of gender based body parameters expect for the statistical difference in Q angle, PCMT. There was a significant correlation between low back pain and multiple response status. There was a significant correlations between knee pain and Q angle. Also There was a significant correlations between pelvic pain and posture balance of ankle. Conclusions : Posture analysis system can be used to perform the analysis in place of X-ray measuring body posture and clinical parameters. The results of this study are expected to be the basis for further research on the clinical application of posture analysis system.

Objectives : This study is planned to classify correlation between thoracic kyphosis angle and prevalence of cervical intervertebral disc. Methods : We Measured the thoracic kyphosis angel of the 110 men and 179 women patients with neck pain in 00 Korean Medicine Hospital. We use Cobb's angle method and Thoracic cage dimension method for measuring the thoracic kyphosis. And We use Magentic Resonance Imaging(MRI) for classifying the patient who has cervical intervertebral disc or not. Results : 1. There was statistical difference on the thoracic cage dimension with gender(P<0.001), while there was no statistical difference on Cobb's angle with gender(P=0.882). 2. Age and thoracic cage dimension(r=0.383) is statistically more correlative than age and cobb's angle(r=-0.59). Conclusions : 1. Thoracic cage dimension and gender, Thoracic cage dimension and age were statistically concerned on patient who has neck pain, while Cobb's angle had no statistical correlation with age and gender. 2. There was no statistical difference on the Cobb's angle and Thoracic cage Dimension between patient who has one or more cervical disc herniation(Protrusion disc, Extrusion disc) segment and patient who didn't have cervical disc herniation(Protrusion disc, Extrusion disc) segment.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of Chuna manual treatment and Chuna manual treatment with self muscle energy techniques on patients with pelvic malposition Methods : Random allocation was done. We used Chuna manual treatment to control group and Chuna manual treatment with self muscle energy techniques to experimental group. These patient's pelvic malposition were checked by Leg length analysis, measuring Innominate measurement length, obturator foramen size and height of femur head. Results : 1)After the 3 weeks treatment, patients' inequality of leg length and Innominate measurement length were significantly reduced. 2)There was no significant difference between control group and experimental group. Conclusions : Chuna manual treatment and Chuna manual treatment with self muscle energy techniques are considered to be effective and useful in patients with pelvic malposition. But there was no significant difference between control group and experimental group.

Background : Charcot Marie Tooth disease can cause muscle weakness and foot deformity. Ankle pain induced by foot deformity affect patients' gait pattern and quality of life. Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the traditional Korean medicine treatment for ankle pain induced with Charcot-Marie Tooth Disease, especially Chuna manual therapy on ankle joints. Methods : One patient was treated with acupuncture, phamacopuncture, herbal medication and chuna manual therapy on ankle joints. To evaluate the pain of ankle, lower back and lower extremity, visual analog scale(VAS) was measured. Results : After treatment for 5 week, the pain of ankle joint was declined from VAS 6 to VAS 2. Conclusions : Traditional Korean medicine treatment including acupuncture, pharmacopuncture, herbal medication and Chuna manual therapy is effective for ankle pain with foot deformity. But further studies are required to prove the effectiveness of Chuna manual therapy on ankle joints.

Objectives: The Purpose of this study is to report three cases on tension-type headache treated by Chuna manipulative therapy. Methods: Three patients diagnosed tension-type headache were treated with Chuna manipulative therapy only. To evaluate effect of treatment, visual analogue scale(VAS) and headache impact test(HIT) were used. We checked VAS and HIT score three times(pretreatment, post-treatment, follow-up). An interval among each evaluation time is 4 weeks. Results: At post-treatment evaluation, VAS and HIT score declined significantly compared with pre-treatment. At follow-up evaluation, the pain did not increased. Conclusions: These results suggests that Chuna manipulative therapy may be effective for tension-type headache.

Objectives : The purpose of these clinical cases is to evaluate the effectiveness of Korean medical therapy on neck pain with cervical syringomyelia Methods : These are case reports on 2 patients admitted to Daejeon jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine with neck pain and diagnosis of cervical syringomyelia by Cervical spine Magnetic Resonance Imaging, were observed during hospitalization. They were analyzed according to pain and Cervical spine Range of Motion. All patients received a combination of treatments including Acupunture, Chuna, Pharmacopunture, Herbal medication. Pain scales(Number Rating Scale, Neck Disability Index) and Cervical spine Range of Motion were used during hospitalization. Results : After 3 weeks for these patients, Cervical spine Number Rating Scales decreased from 7 to 3 and from 9 to 4 respectively. And Trapezius muscle Number Rating Scales decreased from 7 to 3 and from 2 to 1 respectively. Also Cervical spine Range of Motion improved to the normal. Conclusions : Korean medical therapy might be effective in reducing pain and improving range of motion for patients with neck pain. And we hope this study further confirmed the effectiveness of Korean medical therapy on neck pain with cervical syringomyelia.

Objectives : Most of pains are important symptoms caused by cancer transpered to spine. Harpagophyti Radix Pharmacopuncture is highly effective in reducing fever, pain, inflammation but was never used to reduce pain from cancer transpered to spine. So I intended to use Harpagophyti Radix Pharmacopuncture to control pain. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical application of Harpagophyti Radix Pharmacopuncture for Bone Metastasis of Breast Cancer and Spinal Stenosis. Methods : We examined patient with Bone Metastasis of Breast Cancer and Spinal Stenosis who admitted Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital. The patient was treated by Korean Medicine treatment and Harpagophyti Radix Pharmacopuncture. This case was assessed by Numerical Rating Scale(NRS), Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Index(ODI), Short-Form 36 Health Survey(SF-36), ROM(Range of Movement) and Special Test. Results : In this study, the patient's pain was controlled and NRS, ODI were decreased. I could identify the improvement in life quality from the positive change of SF-36 and also found out that treatment was successful from the improvement of ROM, Special test. Conclusions : Harpagophyti Radix Pharmacopuncture with Korean Medicine treatment for Bone Metastasis of Breast Cancer and Spinal Stenosis was proved to be useful to the pain relief and function recovery, but further research should take place for clear understanding of the exact amount of dosage and safety. Moreover it must be accompanied by long term follow up research.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find out the relation between Orthopedic Test of sacroiliac joint and two Sacrum Malposition Tests. Methods : We investigated 56 cases of patients who complained of unilateral sacroiliac joint pain and were diagnosed as sacrum malposition. We used Gaenslen's Test, Sacroiliac Resisted Abduction Test and Patric's Test as Orthopedic Test for pain area, while used Thompson's Sacrum Test and Greenman's 4 Point Test for diagnosis of sacrum malposition. Results : P-value was 0.511 between Thompson's Sacrum Test and Greenman's 4 Point Test within negative Orthopedic Test, and was 0.523 within positive Orthopedic Test(p>0.05) Conclusions : The results suggested that the Thompson's Sacrum Test was not statistically correlation with Greenman's 4 Point Test within negative Orthopedic Test, and was not correlated within positive Orthopedic Test.
