A Qualitative Analysis on the Difficulties of Tech Manager in the Management of EduTech in K-12 School

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find the difficulties of tech manager for managementing EduTech in K-12 schools. For this, we conducted qualitative research of 6 members which consist of tech managers and teachers in K-12 schools. The result is as follows. First, There is the difficulty in EduTech work and the conflict between EduTech members because of the unstable distributing works at the beginning of the project. Second, the unstable employment and the lack of supporting system to the EduTech result in the limitation to the job performance. Third, different-simultaneous support requests from the members of school make the fast handling more difficult. Fourth, the system of the professionalism developing programs for tech managers is insufficient. This research provides the policy implications to the organization and operation of support personnel for activating EduTech in school.

본 연구는 초·중등학교 에듀테크 운영에서 테크매니저의 어려움을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 초·중등학교에 배치된 테크매니저와 에듀테크 담당 교원 6명을 대상으로 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사업 초기 테크매니저의 역할이 정립되지 않아 업무 수행에서의 어려움과 구성원과의 갈등이 발생하였다. 둘째, 에듀테크에 대한 지원 체계 부족과 불안정한 고용은 안정적 업무 수행에 제약이 되고 있다. 셋째, 학교 구성원의 다양한 차원의 동시다발적 지원 요청은 신속한 대처를 곤란하게 하였다. 넷째, 테크매니저의 전문성을 길러 줄 수 있는 역량 개발 체계가 부족하였다. 본 연구는 학교 에듀테크 활성화를 위한 지원 인력의 배치와 운영에 대한 정책적 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
