The Influence of the Experiences of Undergraduates Volunteering Activities on Awareness toward the Disabled

대학생의 장애인 관련 기관 자원봉사 경험이 장애인에 대한 인식에 미치는 영향

Objective : This study was aimed to survey the influence of the experience of undergraduates volunteering activities on awareness toward the disabled. Method : 259 students were chosen and structured interview was carried out using by a questionnaire. Result : The followings are the results of this study. First, students with experience of volunteering activities in institutions related to disabled have positive awareness of disabled. Second, they have positive awareness of disabled in some cases such as volunteering activity in university, interesting in new events, volunteering activity for more over a year, and assisting activities. But they have negative awareness of disabled in some cases such as no experience of volunteering activities, interesting in social relationship, and participating administration service. Conclusion : The results of this study would contribute to better volunteering activity system for the awareness toward the disabled.

목적 : 본 연구는 일반 대학생을 대상으로 장애인 관련 기관 자원봉사 경험이 장애인에 대한 인식에 미치는 영향을 조사한 것이다. 연구방법 : 본 연구는 2013년 7월 22일부터 8월 5일까지 부산 및 경남 지역에 거주하는 대학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며 총 259부를 분석하였다. 결과 : 장애인 관련 기관 자원봉사의 경험이 있는 경우가 없는 경우보다 장애인에 대한 인식의 정도가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 장애인 인식의 영역에서는 차별의 인식(경험 있는 경우 4.13점, 경험 없는 경우 3.64점)이 가장 높았고 관심의 인식(경험 있는 경우 3.21점, 경험 없는 경우 2.86점)이 가장 낮게 나타났다. 자원봉사의 경험 특성에 따르면 학교 사회봉사나 과목 수강을 통해 자원봉사를 참여하게 된 경우, 새로운 경험을 하고 싶어서 참여한 경우, 1년 이상 자원봉사를 한 경우, 주로 활동 보조의 자원봉사를 한 경우 장애인에 대한 인식의 정도가 높았다. 반면 자원봉사 활동 경험이 전혀 없거나 대인 관계를 넓히고 싶어서 자원봉사를 하는 경우, 주로 행정 업무 보조의 자원봉사를 한 경우 장애인에 대한 인식의 정도가 낮았다. 결론 : 대학생의 장애인 관련 기관 자원봉사 경험이 장애인에 대한 인식에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 향후 장애인 인식 개선을 위한 자원봉사의 체계를 마련하는데 기초자료를 제공할 것으로 기대된다.
