A Study on Red Tide Control with Loess Suspension

Abstract
As one of the red tide control method, montmorillonite was used to eliminate the causative organisms in Korea and Japan. We assayed the loess to replace the montmorillonite because it distribute in large quantity and nearby the red tide occurrence in South Coast of Korea. By using the mixture of loess and coal ashes, we examined the decreasing level of nutrients such as ammonia and phosphate, the elimination of causative organisms as a chlorophyll a content, and the harmful effect on aquaculture orgarnisms in cage culture farms. 적조방제 대책의 하나로 우리나라와 일본에서 점토를 적조발생해역에 뿌려 적조방제 효과가 인정된 점토 대신 남해안에 널리 분포, 매장되어 있는 황토와 난방 후 폐기물인 황토를 섞어 만든 연탄재를 사용하여 실내와 가두리 양식장에서 적조생물 발생에 필수적인 영양염(암모니아, 인산)의 흡착여부, 적조생물 제거 및 양식생물의 피해여부를 실험하였다. 영양염 흡착제거 실험에서 부유황토의 경우 암모니아와 인산은 황토 입자들과 접촉후 30분이내에 최초 농도의 절반이 황토입자에 부착 흡수된 반면 연탄재에는 암모니아만 최초 농도의
