The First Korean Rocket Dae-Sin-Gi-Jeon : Study of Propellant Case(Yak-Tong)

조선시대 로켓인 대신기전 복원 : 약통에 대한 기초연구

Abstract

Many types of new Korean Firearms were developed during the reign of King Se Jong(1418$\sim$1450). After the Chong-Tong-Deung-Rok(1448), The Ju-hwa was renamed as the Sin-Gi-Jeon. There was four kinds of rocket propelled arrows : So(small), Chung(medium), Dae(large) and San-hwa(multiple bomblets)-Sin-Gi-Jeon. Dae-Sin-Gi-Jeon known to be the best and biggest of any rocket propelled arrows in the 15th century. This paper describes Yak-Tong(propellant case made by paper) of Dae-Sin-Gi-Jeon.

신기전은 고려말 최무선에 의해 주화로 개발되었다. 조선시대로 넘어와 세종 30년(1448년) 총통등록(銃筒謄錄)이 편찬되면서 신기전으로 명칭이 바뀌었고, 그 크기와 용도에 따라서 소 중 대 산화 신기전으로 구분이 되었다. 이 중 대신기전은 15세기 개발되었던 로켓형 화기 중에 세계 최대, 최고의 성능을 자랑한다. 본 연구에서는 대신기전을 복원하기 위하여 추진기관인 약통의 재질적 특성과 구조적 특성에 대해 규명해 보았다.
