  • Zoom has been most popularly used as a non-face-to-face online class tool since COVID19, but due to the recent spread of the metaverse, the use of the metaverse platform is increasing. In particular, since a metaverse platform 'Spatial' provides online classroom creation and various learning functions, and various interactions between instructors and learners or learners and learners are possible, it is highly likely to be used in university classes. Since Zoom and Spatial each have their own strengths and weaknesses for the purpose of class use, it is necessary to find out the strengths and weaknesses of each by comparing and analyzing the learner's experience in class use. In this study, a quantitative analysis of usability, immersion, and satisfaction and a qualitative analysis of individual opinions were performed in order to compare and analyze the learner's experience. SUS (System Usability Scale) was used for usability evaluation, and Magnitude Estimation method was used for immersion and satisfaction evaluation. Thirty-five people who had participated in classes using Zoom and Spatial participated as subjects in this study. Zoom was higher than Spatial at the significance level of 0.05 in usability and satisfaction. On the other hand, the immersion in class was higher in Spatial than in Zoom. Since Spatial provides online classroom creation and various learning functions, and provides various interactions and fun elements between instructors and learners or learners and learners, the immersion in classes was high. If the user interface and interaction of Spatial are improved in the future, it is judged that it can be used as an effective online teaching tool that can replace zoom in university classes.

  • A novel hyperspectral imaging spectrometer controlling spatial and spectral resolution individually has been proposed. This imaging spectrometer uses a zoom lens as a telescope and a focusing element. It can change the spatial resolution fixing the spectral resolution or the spectral resolution fixing the spatial resolution. Here, we report the concept of the hyperspectral imaging spectrometer with the novel zooming function and the optical design of a zoom lens as the focusing element. By using lens module and third-order aberration theory, we have presented the initial design of four-group zoom lens with external entrance pupil. And the optimized zoom lens with a focal length of 50 to 150 mm is obtained from the initial design by the optical design software. As a result, the designed zoom lens shows satisfactory performances in wavelength range of 450 to 900 nm as a focusing element in an imaging spectrometer. Furthermore, the collimator lens of the imaging spectrometer is designed through the third-order aberration correction by using an iterative process.

  • We propose a new type of stereoscopic camera system with a zoom lens module to overcome the backlash for the stability of picture matching and the difficulty of zoom control. This system is designed to control a pair of zoom lens with a rotation lever. In this paper, we present the structural characteristics of our proposed system, and verify that there are no image mismatching at acquired stereo images and the zoom in$\cdot$out is easy to control. In our experiments, we achieve good results that a convergence control is very simple and distortion of images is decreased.

  • We introduce an x-ray micro tomography system capable of high resolution imaging of a local region inside a small animal. By combining two kinds of projection data, one from a full field-of-view (FOV) scan of the whole body and the other from a limited FOV scan of the region of interest, we have obtained zoomed-in images of the region of interest without any contrast a nomalies. We have integrated a micro tomography system using a micro-focus x-ray source, a $1248\times1248$ flat-panel x-ray detector, and a precision scan mechanism. Using the cross-sectional images taken with the zoom-in micro tomography system, we measured trabecular thicknesses of femur bones in postmortem rats. To compensate the limited spatial resolution in the zoom-in micro tomography images, we used the fuzzy distance transform for the calculation of the trabecular thickness. To validate the trabecular thickness measurement with the zoom-in micro tomography images, we compared the measurement results with the ones obtained from the conventional micro tomography images of the extracted bone samples.

  • By Gaussian optics, a zoom eyepiece is analyzed, which has the diameter of exit pupil 0.5 em, eyerelief 1 em, and angular magnification $M_a=7~15$. The initial design is based on this analysis. Telescope objective which was previously designed has focal length($(f_u')$ 21.0 em, and its clear aperture is 6.2 em. Zoom telescope has half field angle $\beta=1.5^{\circ}$ at the entrance pupil and at exit pupil it is $\beta'=1.5^{\circ}\times(7~15)=10.5^{\circ}~22.5^{\circ}$. Zoom eyepiece consists of three groups, of which each one satisfies the Seidel 3,d order aplanatization. Final design is obtained by optimization for the finite ray aberration, and the zoom eyepiece is assessed on the basis of the resolution of eyes.f eyes.

  • In this paper, we proposed that immersive audio effect method using the effective noise to improve engagement in free-viewpoint TV(FTV) service. In the basketball court, we monitored the frequency spectrums by acquiring continuous audio data of players and referee using shotgun and wireless microphone. By analyzing this spectrum, in case that users zoomed in, we determined whether it is effective frequency or not. Therefore when users using FTV service zoom in toward the object, it is proposed that we need to utilize unnecessary noise instead of removing that. it will be able to be useful for an immersive audio implementation of FTV.

  • This paper proposes small VCM(voice coil motor) type, auto-focusing and zoom actuators for mobile information devices. In order to meet the large output displacement within small height restriction, the proposed auto-focusing actuator adopts curved suspensions, which are similar to a leaf-spring type suspension of optical disk drives. The sensitivity of design parameters on output displacement and dynamic performance is implemented using ANSYS (3D FEM tool) to determine the optimal geometry and stiffness of the curved suspensions. This paper also investigates a new zoom actuator without a suspension supporting a bobbin. The zoom actuator uses a moving rail and a stoper mechanism by generating rotational force at lens holder. Magnetic flux density of the zoom actuator are calculated by both the FEM and permeance method. Experiments using prototypes of the proposed focusing and zoom models show that both actuators meet the required displacement and performance.

  • This paper presents a new method for reconstructing 3 dimensional object model using a zoom camera. The proposed method uses zoom images to find the distance(D) between camera and object. Also the method uses images obtained around the object to find an $angle(\theta)$ between two connected planes of the object. With the D and $\theta,$ we can reconstruct the real sized 3-D model of object with less errors without stereo camera or rangefinder.

  • This paper discussed a method for estimating the distance using the stereo zoom lens module. A method for estimating the distance using single zoom lens is limited in convergence angle. So, we composed horizontal moving camera and estimated the distance. In the experiment, we get the wider convergence angle and more precise distance than single camera's.
