Design of Passive-Type Radar Reflector

  • This paper describes design method of Passive-type Radar Reflector (PRR) which is to provide the requirement of newly revised 2000 SOLAS regulations on the Radar Reflector. The main target of this work is to find the optimum shape of a radar target having large Radar Cross Section (RCS). Through the RCS analysis based on the theoretical approach, two kinds of PRR models, RRR-F model for use in fisheries and PRR-S model for use in small sized ship, are designed and discussed their RCS performance. RCS measurement tests for the various sized samples are carried out in an anechoic chamber. As evaluation results it was clearly shown that the conventional sphere-type shows optimum shape in case of PRR-S, while the cylinder-type which consists of large sized corner clusters or zig-zag flat plats gives best performance in case of PRR-F.

측풍 조건을 고려한 로터블레이드 형상의 공력성능에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Aerodynamic Performance of a Rotor-Blade Configuration under Cross-Wind Conditions)

  • In the present study, a wind tunnel test for a rotor-blade configuration was conducted to investigate a basic aerodynamic performance and a effect of the cross wind. The diameter of the configuration was 1.46 m and the test was carried out for both a clean and a tripped configurations. The boundary layer for the trip configuration was simulated by zig-zag tape and the test performed on constant-velocity and constant-rotational modes. It was shown that the test result for the tripped configuration reduces the maximum power coefficient by 9.4% ~ 12.1% compared to the clean one. Within $5^{\circ}$ of the flow angle, there is no significant loss of power, however, the coefficient is reduced by 5.3% ~ 36.7% in the range of $10^{\circ}{\sim}30^{\circ}$.

  • Computed Tomography (CT), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR1) and some ultrasound techniques make it possible to obtain cross sections of human body or mechanical parts. In CAD system, a series of sectional surfaces can also be obtained from solid models of 3D objects. In this paper we introduce a tetrahedral meshing algorithm from these series of general sections using basic operators. In this scheme. general sections of three-dimensional object are triangulated first and side surfaces between two sections are triangulated by the use of tiling process. Finally tetrahedral meshing process is performed on each layer of 3D objects, which is composed of two general sections and one side surface.

Robust Blind Image Watermarking Using an Adaptive Trimmed Mean Operator

  • In this paper, we present a robust watermarking technique based on a DCT-domain watermarking approach and an order statistic(OS) filter. The proposed technique inserts one watermark into each of four coefficients within a 2 ${\times}$ 2 block which is scanned on DCT coefficients in the zig-zag ordering from the medium frequency range. The detection algorithm uses an adaptive trimmed mean operator as a local estimator of the embedded watermark to obtain the desired robustness in the presence of additive Gaussian noise and JPEG compression attacks. The performance is analyzed through statistical analysis and numerical experiments. It is shown that the robustness properties against additive noise and JPEG compression attacks are more enhanced than the previous techniques.

그래프의 s-t 절단을 이용한 경로 배정 문제 풀이 (Solving a Path Assignment Problem using s-t Cuts)

  • We introduce a noble method to find a variation of the optimal path problem. The problem is to find the optimal decomposition of an original planar region such that the number of paths in the region is minimized. The paths are required to uniformly cover each subregion and the directions of the paths in each sub-region are required to be either entirely vertical or entirely horizontal. We show how we can transform the path problem into a graph s-t cut problem. We solve the transformed s-t cut problem using the Ford-Fulkerson method and show its performance. The approach can be used in zig-zag milling and layerd manufacturing.

비순차적 비트 정렬에 의한 점진적인 DCT 영상 부호화 (A Progressive DCT Image Coding by Non-sequential Bit Ordering)

  • DCT image coding has been well known for its compression efficiency. Its nature makes it also suitable for efficient progressive transmission and reconstruction since low frequency transform coefficients contain most of the energy of image signals. In this paper, we propose a progressive transmission technique of DCT image by non-sequential bit ordering using Lloyd-Max quantizer. And then, we will show that the Lloyd-Max quantizer can be embedded quantization. In simulation results, the proposed method show better subjective picture and MSE of the reconstructed image than the conventional zig-zag scanning transmission of transform coefficients.

  • 산업발전과 전력용 반도체 소자의 비약적인 발달로 부하설비가 첨단화, 자동화 되면서 전력변환장치 등 비선형 부하 사용이 증가하고 있으며, 이에 따라 전력계통에는 고조파와 불평형이 필연적으로 발생하게 된다. 이러한 고조파와 불평형은 전력품질을 악화시킴으로써 설비의 효율 감소는 물론 전기적 사고와 불필요한 전력손실을 야기시키고 있다. 본 연구는 하이브리드변압기 동작원리 및 에너지절감 이론을 연구하고 실제 현장적용을 통한 에너지 절감효과 및 전력품질에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

하이브리드 몰드 변압기의 온도 특성 해석 (Temperature Characteristics Analysis of Hybrid Transformer)

  • In this paper, the temperature distribution of 400kVA hybrid transformer is predicted by using CFD analysis. The copper loss and iron loss which are heat source are calculated by using Joule heat and Bertotti's equation respectively. To improve the convergence of the numerical calculation and to reduce the computation time, the 1/4 model is used and the incompressible air model is used for external air. To verify analysis result, the temperature rise test and no-load test of the transformer are performed. The experiment result obtained by using thermo-graphic camera is similar to the numerical result of the CFD analysis.

LED 조명등 히트싱크 형상과 배열에 따른 방열특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the radiant Heat Characteristic According to Type and Array of LED Lighting Heatsink)

  • Numerical analysis of the radiant heat characteristic around heatsink according to arrangement and shape of fin on 60W-LED lamp is conducted in this study. In the case of top blow blowing from upper side on LED lamp, there is just little difference in cooling characteristics according to the height of fin. On the other hand, the fin arranged side by side has the advantage of heat transfer enhancement by comparing with zig-zag type because it leads to more loss of flow. In case of making fin round to increase the amount of heat transfer, designing arrangement with the minimized loss of flow has the advantage of characteristic.
