A Study of Zero Energy Building Verification with Measuring and Model-based Simulation in Exhibition Building

  • With the change in Earth's ecosystems due to climate change, a number of studies on zero energy buildings have been conducted globally, due to the depletion of energy and resources. However, most studies have concentrated on residential and office buildings and the performance predictions were made only in the design phase. This study verifies the zero-energy performance in the operational phase by acquiring and analyzing data after the completion of an exhibition building. This building was a retention building, in which a renewable energy system using a passive house building envelope, solar photovoltaic power generation panels, as well as fuel cells were adopted to minimize the maintenance cost for future energy-zero operations. In addition, the energy performance of the building was predicted through prior simulations, and this was compared with actual measured values to evaluate the energy performance of the actual operational records quantitatively. The energy independence rate during the measurement period of the target building was 123% and the carbon reduction due to the energy production on the site was 408.07 tons. The carbon reduction exceeded the carbon emission (331.5 tons), which verified the carbon zero and zero-energy performances.

EMI Prediction and Reduction of Zero-Crossing Noise in Totem-Pole Bridgeless PFC Converters

  • In this study, a zero-crossing spike current issue in a totem-pole bridgeless power factor correction (PFC) converter is comprehensively investigated for the first time. Spike current occurs when input voltage crosses zero, becomes a noise source, and causes severe common mode emission issues. A generation mechanism for electromagnetic interference (EMI) is presented to investigate the EMI problem caused by zero-crossing issue, and a noise spectrum due to this issue is predicted by a theoretical analysis based on the Fourier coefficient of an approximate spike current waveform. Furthermore, a noise reduction method is proposed and then improved to reduce the spike current. Experimental measurements are implemented on a GaN-based totem-pole bridgeless PFC converter, and the spike current can be effectively suppressed through the proposed method. Furthermore, the noise spectrums measured without and with the reduced zero-crossing spike current are compared. Experimental results validate the analysis of the noise spectrum caused by the zero-crossing spike current issue.

InGaAs/InAlAs Quantum Cascade Lasers Grown by using Metal-organic Vapor-phase Epitaxy

  • In this paper, InP-based InGaAs/InAlAs quantum cascade lasers(QCLs) providing nearly zero emission wavelength mismatch between the measured emission wavelength and the designed transition wavelength of QCLs is presented. The zero emission wavelength mismatch of QCLs influenced by both the accurate compositions and thicknesses of the low-pressure metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy(MOVPE) grown InGaAs and InAlAs layers throughout the core and the abrupt composition transitions between InGaAs and InAlAs layers. The abrupt interfaces between InGaAs and InAlAs layers have been achieved throughout the core structure by means of controlling individually purged vent/run valves of a closed coupled showerhead reactor. In addition, maintaining substrate temperature constant during InGaAs/InAlAs core growth was a partial factor of uniformity improvement of QCLs. These approaches for reducing the possible discrepancies between the designed and MOVPE grown epitaxial structures could lead to improvement of QCL performance.

음식 폐기물을 이용한 박테리아 셀룰로오스 생산 공정 잔류물의 혐기성 소화효율 (Anaerobic Digestion Efficiency of Remainder from Bacterial Cellulose Production Process using Food Wastes)

  • 본 연구는 당 연구실에서 구축하고 있는 음식물쓰레기 고부가 자원화zero-emission시스템의 마지막 단계에 해당하는 부분으로써 본 공정의 부산물인 음식물 쓰레기 당화고형분과 박테리아 셀룰로오스배양 후의 여액을 기질 원으로 하여 2상 UASB 반응기를 이용하여 혐기성 소화를 수행하였다. 산 반응조와 메탄 반응조는 각각 35, 40$^{\circ}C$에서 운전하였고 두 반응조의 유기물 부하율은 각각 3g-VS/L${\cdot}$day, 25,000 mg/L로 유지하였다. 공정부산물의 최적 소화조건을 찾기 위하여 F.W + B.C.R, B.C.R, B.C.R + S.S 순으로 단계적으로 주입, 운전한 결과, 최종 메탄 발효액의 pH는 각각 7.13, 7.17, 7.22이었고 COD 제거율은 각각 88, 90, 91%이었으며 메탄 생성율은 각각 0.26, 0.34, $0.32m^3-CH_4/kg-COD_{remove}$이었다. 세번째 단계인 B.C.R + S.S를 기질로 사용한 경우가 음식물 쓰레기만 사용한 경우보다 전환효율이 높았다. 이는 음식물 쓰레기를 바로 혐기성 소화하는 것보다 음식물 쓰레기로부터 고부가가치를 창출하고 그 잔액으로 혐기성 소화를 거치는 방법이 보다 경제적이고 유익함을 알 수 있다. 따라서 당 실험실에서 구축하고 있는 음식물 쓰레기 고부가 자원화 zero-emission 시스템은 음식물 쓰레기에 포함된 에너지를 최대한 회수하고 고부가가치를 창출함에 있어서 가장 이상적인 방법이라고 사료된다.

복합발전 가스터빈 연소기용 저선회 노즐의 연료 분사 위치에 따른 배기배출 및 연소진동 특성 (Emissions and Combustion Dynamics with Fuel Injection Position for Low-swirl Nozzles of Gas Turbine Combustor)

  • 본 연구에서는 SN(Swirl Number)는 같지만 코어부와 스월러부의 질량유량비(m)가 다른 저선회 노즐 2종을 설계하여 상압 연소성능 시험을 수행하였다. 각 노즐에 대해 단열화염온도에 따른 연소성능 실험을 수행하였고 화염구조 특성, NOx 배출 특성, 연소진동 모드를 파악하였다. 화염구조가 크게 차이가 있었지만 CO 배츨 특성은 유사하였고 NOx 배출 특성도 화염구조보다는 연소진동과 더 큰 관련성이 있음을 보였다. 연료노즐의 위치를 변경하여 대류지연시간을 조절하면서 연소진동 및 NOx 배출 특성을 파악하였는데 대류지연시간이 연소진동 주기의 (3+4n)/4±1/4 (n=0,1,2,...) 영역에 들어올 때 진소진동이 강하게 나타나고 반대의 경우는 연소진동이 아주 약하게 발생함을 확인하였다.

음식물류폐기물 제로화 주거단지 구축 시나리오별 비용 및 환경효과 분석 (Analysis of Greenhouse Gas Reduction according to Different Scenarios of Zero Food Waste Residential Buildings)

  • 본 연구에서는 공동주택 단지에서의 음식물류폐기물을 수거 이송하여 대용량처리시설에 자원화 혹은 재활용하는 기존 방식과 발생지인 공동주택 내에서 처리하는 제안 방식을 가상하여 차량수거방식, 자동집하방식, 자동집하처리방식, 소규모분산처리방식, 오수처리연계방식으로 시나리오를 설정하고 각 시나리오별 초기 투자비용, 석유 사용량, 이산화탄소 배출량, 음식물류폐기물 처리 운영비용, 입주자 부담 관리비를 비교 분석하였다. 기존처리 방식에 비해 제안하는 소규모분산처리방식이 초기 투자비용, 연간 석유사용량, 이산화탄소 배출량이 가장 낮았으며 적용, 도입 가능성이 높았다. 음식물류폐기물 처리 운영비용은 기존 처리방식과 비교하여 1톤당 334,465원(약 91%)이 절감되며 세대 당 월 1,500원인 입주자 부담 관리비용 또한 902원으로 약 40% 절감이 가능하다고 분석되었다. 각 시나리오별 초기 투자비용과 석유사용량, 이산화탄소 배출량을 비교한 결과, 초기 투자비용이 낮은 처리방식이 연료 사용량과 이산화탄소 발생량도 낮은 경향을 나타내었다. 초기 투자비용과 석유사용량, 이산화탄소 배출량이 가장 낮은 시나리오는 소규모분산처리방식이며 가장 높은 시나리오는 오수처리연계방식이었다. 연구의 공간적 범위를 공동주택 단지로 설정할 때 소규모분산처리방식이 음식물류폐기물 제로화 모델로서 가장 적합한 방식으로 판단된다.

  • 레이저 애블레이션에 의해서 가지상 구조체 형상인 나노입자 응집체를 합성하였다. 기존 마이크론 금속섬유 필터의 표면상에 나노입자 응집체를 고착하여 여과성능을 향상시켰다. 에어로졸 상에서 소결 처리된 나노입자 응집체를 증착한 후 열처리를 하여 나노구조체가 표면상에 형성된 소결 처리된 나노입자 응집체 고착 필터를 제작하였다. 소결 온도가 증가할수록 마이크론 금속섬유 필터 표면상에 고착된 나노입자 응집체의 표면적 증가로 인하여 차압은 조금 증가하지만 여과효율은 현저하게 증가하였다.

무공해자동차용 R134a 히트펌프 시스템의 난방성능 향상에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Heating Performance Improvement of R134a Heat Pump System for Zero Emission Vehicles)

  • This paper describes an experimental study for heating performance that can be used in R-134a automobile heat pump systems. The heat pump system is widely studied for heating system in zero-emission vehicles to attain both the small power consumption and the effective heating of the cabin. This paper presents the experimental results of the influence on heating capacity and coefficient of performance of heat pump system. Tests were performed with different sizes of internal and external heat exchangers, and refrigerant flow rate was also considered in two-way flow devices. In addition, the heat, air, and water sources with the heat pump system were examined. The experimental results with the heat pump system were used to analyze the impact on performances. The best combination of performance was A-inside heat exchanger, B-outside heat exchanger, and B-flow device, respectively. In addition, a water heat-source was found to give roughly 40% of better performance than an air heat-source heat pump system.

  • The continuous development of science and technology since the Industrial Revolution and the development of human civilization are based on the use of fossil fuels. However, the use of fossil fuels is increasing the greenhouse gas, the main cause of global warming, and global warming is an extreme climate anomaly that is rapidly increasing human and material damage. Therefore, efforts are being made worldwide to return greenhouse gases to pre-industrial levels. In Korea, 2050 carbon neutrality has been set as a major policy and efforts are being made to curb carbon emissions in the overall industry. Carbon emission suppression is based on the minimization of fossil fuel use, and research and development are underway on building a zero-emission house that minimizes the energy used in buildings in the construction field. Therefore, in this study, as part of the zero-emissions water system construction, waste resources generated at industrial sites were utilized and an integrated lightweight concrete solar panel grafted with a concrete lightweight panel and solar panel was manufactured and the possibility of its use was evaluated.

항적 데이터에 기반한 하이브리드 추진 연료전지 선박의 효율 평가 (Efficiency Evaluation of a Hybrid Propulsion Fuel Cell Ship Based on AIS Data)

  • Efforts have been made to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from ships by limiting the energy efficiency index, and net zero CO2 emission was proposed recently. The most ideal measure to achieve zero emission ship is electrification, and fuel cells are considered as a practical power source of the electrified propulsion system. The electric efficiency in the electrochemical reaction of fuel cells can be achieved up to 60% practically. The remaining energy is converted to heat energy but most of them are dissipated by cooling. In the author's previous research, a hybrid propulsion system utilizing not only electricity but also heat was introduced by combining electric motor and steam turbine. In this article, long term efficiency is evaluated for the introduced hybrid propulsion system by considering a virtual 24,000 TEU class container carrier model. To reflect a more practical operating condition, the actual navigation data of a similar real ship in the real world were collected from automatic identification system data and applied. From the result, the overall efficiency of the hybrid propulsion system is expected to be higher than a conventional electric propulsion fuel cell ship by 30%.
