실과용으로 적합한 양액종류를 선발하고자 수경재배용으로 선발한 '금장외대파'와 '토쿄구로파'을 공시하여 담액식으로 시험을 수행하였다. 양액종류로 기존 파용 지바농시액, 엽채소용 M식액, 파용 타케가와액, 및 싹파용 야마자키액을 이용하여 시험한 결과, 구당 생체 중 및 건물중에 있어서 두 품종 모두 야마자키액, M식액, 지바농시액, 타케가와액 순으로 양호하였다. 생체중과 건물중 증가, 그리고 양분 흡수율 및 기타 요인을 모두 고려하였을 때 실파 수경재배용으로 가장 적정한 배양액으로 싹파용 야마자키액을 선발하였다.

Despite many researches related with in-vitro culture of porcine spematogonial stem cells (SSCs), adherent culture system widely used has shown a limitation in the maintenance of porcine SSC self-renewal. Therefore, in order to overcome this obstacle, suspension culture, which is known to have numerous advantage over adherent culture, was applied to the culture of porcine SSCs. Porcine SSCs retrieved from neonatal testes were suspension-cultured for 5 days or 20 days, and characteristics of suspension-cultured porcine SSCs including proliferation, alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity, and self-renewal-specific gene expression were investigated and compared with those of adherent-cultured porcine SSCs. As the results, the suspension-cultured porcine SSCs showed entirely non-proliferative and significantly higher rate of AP-positive cells and expression of self-renewal-specific genes than the adherent-cultured porcine SSCs. In addition, long-term culture of porcine SSCs in suspension condition induced significant decrease in the yield of AP staining-positive cells on post-day 10 of culture. These results showed that suspension culture was inappropriate to culture porcine SSCs, because the culture of porcine SSCs in suspension condition didn't stimulate proliferation and maintain AP activity of porcine SSCs, regardless of culture periods.

The purpose of this study is to examine the different communication messages behind African women's hairstyles, and to compare young and old African women's hairstyles. The contents of this research are: the hairstyle as communication media, the types of African women's hairstyles, and the difference between young and old women's hairstyles. We used a review of literature and an empirical study as the research methods for this study. For the literature review, we used papers on African hairstyles, and we linked hairstyles to corresponding communication. For the empirical study, we took a database of 240 pictures (120 pictures of young women and 120 pictures of old women) from websites related to African hairstyles and we analyzed the pictures to differentiate between young and old African women's hairstyles. The results of this study reveal that African women's hairstyles express messages of power, ceremony, and status and identification communication. Within the 240 pictures, we found out which hairstyles are preferred by young and old women. Young African women prefer long, straight hairstyles and artificial hair (wigs), while old women keep short, natural hairstyles. The result of this research will be useful for understanding African women's hairstyles as well as contribute to the field of hair design.

In order to protect fungal diseases, leaf disc explants of Solanum tuberosum cultivar, Belchip, was infected with an Agrobacterium MP90 strain containing chimeric gene construct, consisting of antibiotic resistance and chitinase gene driven by the CaMV 35S promoter, for transformation. Regenerated multiple shoots were selected on a medium containing kanamycin and carbenicillin after exposure to Agrobacterium. The presence and integration of the npt II and chitinase gene were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction(PCR). Northern blot analysis indicated that the genes coding for the enzyme could be expressed in potato plants. The chitinase activity of transgenic potato plants was higher than the control potato.

Reflecting a particular place and time, from the agrarian society, through the Industrial Age, furniture has been one of the closest factors to our housing life and developed continuously. The information age representing digital, information and telecommunication generally gave a wide range of individuals and societies various phases of culture shock that had never been experienced so far, among which the change of the attitude toward work and marriage influenced on housing life style, they have required unexplored style and function of furniture additionally. People so called the singles has recently become a culture code reflecting the present time, they already have built their own territories in society, economy and culture. The ideas about a variety of furniture for the singles, which consider the housing culture of the singles, has been floated, therefore furniture for the singles are main streamed into home furniture category, required characteristics of furniture for the singles are drawn, furthermore some design examples are suggested on the basis of those characteristics in this study.

Although the Korean Wave originated in China, its presence in this country had been faltering for some time. Recently, however, Korean Wave star centered K-drama via online video websites, Korean Wave TV programs with high ratings, and idol group centered K-pop with glocalization strategies are all popular in China once again. The purpose of this paper is to explore Chinese teens and twenty year olds as the main consumers of Korean popular culture and the how preferred genres, motives, and behaviors of Korean pop culture use and Korean image affect one another. According to the study results, media use via online video service was most common, and among the preferred genres, K-drama has the highest usage rates. In addition, it was discovered that motives and behaviors associated with the use of Korean pop culture had a considerable influence on a positive Korean image.

The Bible has been and still is one of the most influential books ever published. The English Bible has a great impact on English language, literature, and culture. Therefore, knowledge of the Bible is essential in learning English language, its literature, culture and tradition. Biblical allusions are found in great literature and the daily newspapers as well. Rock musicians, screenwriters, television producers, and advertisers use the Bible as a source. Politicians use the words and accounts of the Bible to frame their debates. The Bible has continued to be philosophically, ethically, religiously, and politically influential in Western, Eastern, now World cultures. Therefore, not to know it means not to understand a great portion of world culture. This study examines the influence of the first book of the Bible, Genesis, in English language, literature, and culture. Furthermore, this study suggests why we should incorporate the English Bible in English education.

백합으로부터 total RNA를 분리하여 LSV 외피단백질 유전자의 551 bp에 해당하는 특정 염기서열을 증폭할 수 있는 primer로 RT-PCR를 수행하였다. 그 결과 Lilium oriental hybrid cvs. Miani, Marco Polo, Casablanca, Le Reve 품종에서 551 bp의 DNA 절편이 증폭되었고 이 절편의 염기서열을 분석한 결과 LSV외피단백질 유전자의 일부임을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러므로 RT-PCR 방법으로, 실험에 사용하 s4품종 모두 LSV에 감염되어 있음을 알 수 있었다.
