The number of articles dramatically increased in recent years. Although exercise physiology, biomechanics, and therapeutic exercise were major subjects of interest, alternative treatment modalities such as massage, taping, acupuncture were fields of increasing interests. There were also increasing interests in medical engineering and basic science. Cerebrovascular accidents, elderly people, sportsmen were research objects of increasing frequency. In regard to research designs, experimental research designs such as randomized controlled designs and nonequivalent controlled designs were increasingly adopted in clinical research.

  • The purpose of this study was to review housework research studies in the Journal of Korean Home Economics Association, the Journal of Korean Home Management Association and the Journal of Korean Family Resource Management Association. For this purpose, 109 housework research studies were analyzed according to the themes, published years, the subjects and the research methods. The major findings of this study were as follows. The research on the evaluation of the value of housework was the theme most frequently studied, followed by research on the socialization of housework, housework time, the attitudes on and satisfaction with housework, and the division of housework, in that order. During the periods of 1990-2000 years, housework studies had increased, but since then have slowly decreased. The majority of respondents to housework studies were married women. With respect to employment status of the subjects, both employed and unemployed people were sampled in half of the studies. The sample size was over 300 in almost half of the research reviewed. The most frequently used research method was the surveys using questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, one way ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were the statistical methods used most frequently.

  • While the body of research on metadata has grown substantially, there has been a lack of systematic analysis of the field of metadata. In this study, we attempt to fill this gap by examining metadata literature spanning the past 20 years. With the combination of a text mining technique, topic modeling, and network analysis, we analyzed 2,713 scholarly papers on metadata published between 1995 and 2014 and identified main topics and trends in metadata research. As the result of topic modeling, 20 topics were discovered and, among those, the most prominent topics were reviewed in detail. In addition, the changes over time in the topic composition, in terms of both the relative topic proportions and the structure of topic networks, were traced to find past and emerging trends in research. The results show that a number of core themes in metadata research have been established over the past decades and the field has advanced, embracing and responding to the dynamic changes in information environments as well as new developments in the professional field.

  • Purpose: This study was to examine the trend of qualitative study published by Korean Journal of Adult Nursing from 1989 to 2011, and to suggest future directions through identifying its strength and weakness. Methods: Ninety one published qualitative studies were analyzed focusing on research methodology and research themes using descriptive statistics. Results: During the last 22 years, the number of qualitative studies has rapidly increased and the methodology used to analyze qualitative data has been diversified. The most frequently used analytic method was a phenomenology (48.4%) and the frequency of conducting a content analysis has increased. The prevailing data collection settings were community (61.5%), followed by hospital (35.2%). Especially, many researches showed specific description on researcher's efforts to get validity and reliability of studies in individual studies presented within recent 10 years. However, it was noted that meta study using mixed methodology and secondary analysis of qualitative studies are rarely used and need to be facilitated. Conclusion: Nursing Researchers utilizing qualitative research should continuously make efforts to increase the validity and reliability of their studies and to find knowledges or strategies applicable to practice through using mixed methods or secondary analysis of individual studies.

For this purpose, 87 articles were selected and analyzed by years, research methods, and research themes. As results, Korean article on early childhood teachers' empowerment was first published in 2005 and then continuously conducted every year until 2022. In terms of research methods, 'quantitative research', 'survey questionnaire', and 'analysis of effects' were shown the most. In addition, 'early childhood teacher' and 'daycare center' showed more distribution and 'the scale developed by Short and Rinehart' was most used. As research themes, the most studies have investigated 'influence of empowerment'. Based on the results, we discuss and suggest on future research.

  • This paper is about a case study of an interdisciplinary and intercultural collaborative design project course that has been offered for six years. The distinct characteristics of this course lie in that its students consist of those in two different disciplines, mechanical engineering and industrial design, and also in two different countries, Korea and Germany. The themes of the design project have been selected differently over the years, but always were related to transportation and, particularly, personal mobility devices. The paper first delineates the course and illustrates examples of the outcomes. Then, unique aspects and challenges of the course that have been observed through the six runs and that are associated with the intercultural and interdisciplinary nature are indicated and discussed. The author is convinced that this course has been successful in helping prepare the students for globally-operating manufacturing companies in the future. It is hoped that the findings from this course and the discussions contained in this paper would help those who plan to offer similar courses.

  • The Korean Family Resource Management Association(KFRMA) celebrated its $20^{th}$ anniversary in 2016. KFRMA has tried to improve the quality of family life through research and education since it was formed in 1996. The purpose of this study was to show the contributions of this association and to suggest the future direction. For these purposes, this study showed the process of development through themes of 40 symposiums and it analyzed the research trends among articles published in the Journal of KFRMA. Based on this evaluation, this study suggested an expansion of the research area, the identification of family resource management relating to family policies or healthy family services. Support for leading research projects and the training of healthy family specialists are needed in this association for next 20 years.

  • Purpose: This qualitative study aimed to explore the lived and true meaning of experiences of middle-aged patients with complex regional pain syndrome. Methods: The participants were 10 men and women aged 40 to 60 years who received outpatient treatment at a university hospital, could communicate, and agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected through individual interviews using open and semi-structured questions from September 2019 to July 2021 and were analyzed using the content analysis method suggested by Hsieh and Shannon (2005). Results: As a result of this study, 42 summarized semantic units related to life experience, 15 subthemes, and seven themes were derived. The seven themes were "pressed by severe pain," "frustrated because I cannot be part of the community," "distressed because people do not recognize my disease," "sad about conflicts with family," "unmotivated because of desperate life," "appreciating for support," and "putting oneself together and living daily life." Conclusion: The vivid experiences of the participants derived in this study are the basic data for developing treatment guidelines. In the future, we propose a study on life and family care experiences according to the developmental characteristics of the life cycle of patients with complex regional pain syndrome and develop and apply programs to support patients and their families.
