The purpose of this study is to introduce heat-clearing music therapy[淸熱音樂療法] as one of the 17 kinds of oriental medicine music therapy. The heat-clearing music therapy[淸熱音樂療法] can be applied to certain types of syndromes. The representative syndromes are flaring-up of the heart Fire[心火], rising of the liver Yang[肝陽], and fidgetiness due to deficiency of Eum(陰, Yin). Metal-Gi[金氣] music and Water-Gi[水氣] music are mainly used in heat-clearing music therapy, The patients with the case of flaring-up of the heart Fire[心火] may listen to Metal-Gi[金氣] music. For the patient with rising of the liver Yang[肝陽], relieving constraint music therapy can be used. In other cases with patients with fidgetiness due to deficiency of Eum, replenishing vital essence music therapy can be used. This study describes the theory of heat-clearing music therapy[淸熱音樂療法] that has a good possibility as a new method of oriental medical treatment.

Objective Sjogren's Syndrome is a chronic inflamatory disorder characterized by lymphocytic infiltration of lacrimal and salivary gland. It may be associated with renal disease such as tubulonephritis or glomerulonephritis. Proteinuria is a kidney disorder resulting in an abnormally high amount of protein in the urine. When the glomeruli are damaged, proteins of various sizes pass through them and are excreted in the urine. This report is a case of proteinuria with Sjogren's Syndrome. Methods The patient was diagnosed as kidney yang deficiency syndrome and treated with Woogyu-eum, Sa-am acupuncture therapy and bee venom acupuncture therapy. Visual Analog Scale was used to estimate the clinical symptoms. Results Clinical symptoms and proteinuria were improved without steroid therapy. Conclusion Therefore, we concluded that oriental medical therapy may be useful to treat proteinuria with Sjogren's Syndrome.

Patients with neurogenic bladder undergo morphometric and functional changes of their bladder and urethra. As a result, voiding symptoms such as frequency, nocturia, urgency and incontinence appear. We experienced two cases of the urinary incontinence treated with Samboo-tang(Sanfu-tang). In the point of Differentiation of Syndrome, two cases were diagnosed as Deficiency Syndrome of Yang of the kidneys. After Samboo-tang(Sanfu-tang) administration, the frequency of the urinary incontinence were decreased and the accompanied symptoms also improved. So, we report two cases with a brief view of related literatures.

In this paper, the clinical records of Queen Inmok has been studied and the impact of historical events on her life has been analyzed. This paper has extracted her medical records during King Seonjo's and King Injo's period from the Annals and the Daily Records of Royal Secretariat of Joseon Dynasty, and then contemplated their medical implications consulting Donguibogam as a primary reference. Queen Inmok had been yang deficiency after national mourning. But suffering a series of misfortunes, she was ill with fire-heat (火熱) syndrome and finally passed away suffering from high fever, frequent diarrhea and profuse sweating. At that time, practitioners abused cold therapy following Jin Yuan Sia Jia (金元四大家), so they missed Queen Inmok's yang deficiency.

Objective : In order to report the process of treatment of Aplastic anemia by herbal acupuncture Methods: This case was diagnosed as deficiency of Yang of spleen and kidneys, deficiency of Ki and blood, and fevescence from the deficiency of Urn. Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture and Bee-venom acupuncture were choosen as the method to treat the case. Results: 1. The nocturnal fevescence and indigestion was decreased during the times when Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture was used once a day. 2. The mobility of the joints was improved and the inflamation on the joints was decreased during the times when Bee-venom acupuncture was used every other day. 3. The interval between the transfusion was extended during the times when Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture and Bee-venom acupuncture were used by turns. Conclution : Hominis Placenta herbal acupuncture and Bee-venom acupuncture sucessfully imporved the symtoms of patient with Aplastic anemia

Seopcheonsa(葉天士) regarded the cause of Stomach-Eum[胃陰] deficiency as the lack of fluid and humor induced the heat by Eum(陰, yin) deficiency constitution, external pathogen, overexertion and fatigue, misused medication etc. He said that the symptoms of Stomach-Eum deficiency was related to indigestion of food and that it induced the short supply of nutrition for the whole body and the symptoms by disabled Earth[土]-engenders-Metal[金]. He presented the treatment of clearing Stomach-Fire[胃熱] and nourishing Stomach-Eum[胃陰], and used Geumgwemaekmundongtang(金匱麥門冬湯). And he emphasized Stomach-Eum to supplement existing Spleen-Yang[脾陽] centered treatment. Dangjonghae(唐宗海) regarded Spleen-Eum[脾陰] as these, first, it was fluid and humor such as digestive enzyme. Secondly, it was nutritive substance itself. Finally, it contained plaster-oil and blood-agglutination which formed flesh with nutritive substance. Seopcheonsa and Dangjonghae both thought that fluid and humor was necessary to digest food. However, Dangjonghae's Spleen-Eum[脾陰] included nutritive substance as the result of digestion. So we can say that Dangjonghae integrated Spleen-Eum with Stomach-Eum and Spleen-nutrient.

Objective : This study was conducted to find the relationship between syndrome-differentiation and Sasang-constitution in chronic fatigue patients. Methods : The subjects were 72 adults with chronic fatigue who visited Dunsan Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University between March 2007 and April 2007. Their main complaint was fatigue for longer than 6 months and they did not have any physical or mental problems. We measured their fatigue degree by using Chalder fatigue scale and health habits. To evaluate relationship between syndrome-differentiation with sasang-constitution, The patients were divided into four syndrome-differentiations, such as liver and kidney asthenia of Yin, spleen and kidney deficiency of Yang, deficiency of lung and spleen qi, and deficiency of heart and spleen blood. We also diagnosed Sasang-constitution by using Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II (QSCCII). Results : Among the 72 patients, 41.4%, 34.5% and 24.1% of belonged in Soyangin, Soeumin and Taeumin respectively. Interestingly, we found a meaningful correlation between syndrome-differentiation and physiological function by Sasang-constitution. Conclusion : The result may help Oriental medicine understanding and treatment of chronic fatigue-related diseases and patients.

After studying the cause and mechanism of the itching with the perspective of chronic medical books including Neijing, and the annotators, the conclusions are as follows. 1. The itching, which has correlation with the heart, is the deficiency symptom(虛症). It is generated when the lung-metal(肺金) is infected by the fire pathogen(火邪) and developed to depression(鬱), because of the heart fire flaming upward of circuit year(歲火太過). The treatment is to make metal depression scatter(金鬱泄之). 2. The itching occurs between the dermis(膚) and the epidermis(皮). 3. The itching generates when the excess of yang exuberance(熱盛極) precede the transmission of the wind-heats(風熱), the wind-cold(風寒), and the wind-dampness(風濕). It causes the blood deficiency(血虛) and the blood stasis(血瘀) because of the skin dryness. 4. The itching usually generates during summer, causes the body fever(身熱) and the dermis pain(膚痛). When it becomes worse, it causes generalized itching and vesicles at the whole body(浸淫). 5. The itching is related to the spirit(魄), which works in unconsciousness and the movement of defense qi(衛氣) in night.

Objectives : The aim of this study is development of questionnaire for pattern identification of infertility and analysis of infertility treatment trend in korean traditional medicine. Methods : Data was collected by survey papers from 19 professors of the society of korean obstetrics and gynecology. We surveyed on pattern identifications, symptoms and prescriptions of infertility treatment, diagnosis of ovulation and pregnancy, and duration of infertility treatment. Results : By analysis of survey papers, We choose Kidney yang deficiency, Kidney yin deficiency, Blood deficiency, Liver depression, Dampness-phlegm, Dampness-heat, Static blood pattern for infertility treatment. And 41 items of questionnaire were chosen. Conclusions : We developed the questionnaire for pattern identification of infertility. And further research is necessary for improvement reliabilities and validities of the questionnaire of infertility.

Patients who have repaired cleft lip and palate generally undergo restriction of maxillary growth. Concave facial profile is often exhibited with relatively normalized mandible. Horizontal and sagittal deficiency of the maxilla could cause anterior and posterior crossbites. In growing patients, ortho-dontic and orthopedic treatment is acceptable with maxillary expansion and protraction. However, surgical approach has to be accompanied with orthodontic treatment in skeletally matured patients. We used SARPE and BSSRO to expand the constricted maxilla and retract the mandible in a patient who had cleft palate repaired in infancy. Through SARPE, orthodontic treatment and BSSRO, we sufficiently expanded the maxillla and improved facial profile.
