We fabricated multi-scale such as macro-, micro-, and multi-scale wrinkles by using repetitive volume dividing (RVD) method and thermal curing process. Also wrinkle surface was modified with coating of a self-assembled monolayer (SAM). We measured the contact angle of each wrinkled surface, and observed the behavior of droplets on sloping surface. Through experimental study, we found out that the contact angle was much higher in case of multi-scale and SAM coated wrinkles. And micro-scale wrinkle showed a high contact angle comparing with that of macro-scale wrinkle. Dynamic behaviors of a water droplet like sliding velocity on diverse wrinkled surfaces were dependent on their static contact angles. These results showed that hydro-dynamic characteristics were changed depending on the wrinkle structure and the material forming the wrinkle. These dynamic characteristics can be utilized in bio-chip, microfluidics, and many others in order to control easily chemical reactivity.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to estimate the wrinkle treatment effect of Miso Facial Acupuncture with the facial skin photographing system. Methods : Six middle-aged women with no diseases were recruited. Miso Facial Acupuncture, a total ten times was performed three times a week. The facial skin photograph of each participant was checked two times-pretreatment, posttreatment-using the facial skin photographing system. Both squares and counts of wrinkles in the facial 3 parts were measured for each one. Results : Both squares and counts of wrinkles were decreased on average. The improvement of lower eyelid were the best of all. And the wrinkles of outside of lip were reduced a little. Conclusions : in this study, we could evaluate the wrinkle treatment effects of Miso Facial Acupuncture by an objective and scientific method. Miso Facial Acupuncture has notable effect in wrinkle treatment. As though we had not wide experiences in this treatment, more researches are needed.

Objectives: This study aims to examine the improvement against facial wrinkles after needle-embedding therapy. Methods: The study participants were 10 women treated with needle-embedding therapy in the Korean Medical Clinic from September, 2011 to August, 2014. The subjects were treated every ten days for twenty days, totally three times, and the result of treatment was evaluated five times, such as pre-treatment, after each treatments, one month and two months later of the last treatment with ARAMO-SG. Results: 1. Depth and range of facial wrinkles, facial skin pore test, and sensitivity test were visibly improved after needle-embedding therapy and follow-up compared pre-treatment (p<0.05). 2. The significant improvements in facial skin texture test was not observed and sustained until the follow-up measurement at 2 months. 3. Any adverse reaction related to needle-embedding therapy did not happen. Conclusions: This study suggests that needle-embedding therapy can improve facial wrinkles. The positive results of this study support the requirement for additional research investigating the efficacy of needle-embedding therapy in women.

Objectives : This study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of ampule containing herbal extract(Ulmus davidiana, Ginkgo biloba, Perilla ocymoides, Morus alba, Glycyrrhiza uralensis (licorice), and Angelica gigas) on skin wrinkles in adult women with facial wrinkles. Methods : A total of 12 women, 30 to 46 years of age, with wrinkles in the corner of eyes, applied ampule containing herbal extract twice daily for up to 12 weeks. Silicon replicas of right crow's feet area and antecubital fossa were taken before use of test product and at 4, 8 and 12 weeks. The replicas were analyzed by optical profilometry with Skin Visiometer SV600. The wrinkle and roughness parameters, R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 were calculated and statistically analyzed. In addition, a subjective evaluation of product efficacy was conducted by patient's assessment. Results : The mean values of all the skin roughness parameters were decreased at 4-week, and decreased significantly at 8 and 12-week except R4 at 12-week after test product use. The subjective evaluation of wrinkle by patient's assessment was also improved. However, one patient noted stiffness of face after use of test product. Conclusions : These study suggested that the application of ampule containing herbal extract twice daily for 12 weeks may effectively improve the facial wrinkles without severe side effect.

본 연구에서는 스탬프와 레진의 접촉-인장 방법을 이용하여 고 세장비를 가지는 폴리머 마이크로 헤어를 제작하는 공정을 제안하였다. 또한 광경화시 수축방향에 따라 마이크로 헤어에 표면주름이 다르게 생성되는 것을 실험적으로 관찰하였으며, 헤어의 직경이 $20{\mu}m$ 부근일 때, 일정한 패턴을 가진 표면주름이 제작되었다. 이 직경에서 스탬프와 레진의 접합력보다 수축력이 더 크게 되어 광경화 도중에 레진이 스탬프에서 분리되면서 단방향의 수축을 유도하게 되어 일정한 간격의 주름이 발생하는 것으로 사료된다. 본 연구의 기초결과를 이용하여, 향후 균일한 표면주름을 가지는 다양한 형태의 마이크로 폴리머 헤어를 제작할 수 있을 것으로 사료되며, 생체모사, 열전달 및 촉매 촉진과 같은 표면적과 관련된 기술 등 다양한 분야에 응용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

Purpose: Aging changes of midface include drooping of lower lid, wrinkles of malar area, orbitomalar groove and deepening of nasolabial fold from drooping of malar fat pad. Improvement of lower lid can be achieved through lower blepharoplasty, but improvement of cheek can not be gained. Superficial subciliary cheek lift(by Moelleken, 1996) is a method that lifts malar fat pad through extended subciliary incision. We obtained simultaneous improvement of lower lid, malar wrinkles and orbitomalar groove with modification of this technique. Methods: From December 2003 to January 2006, we performed this method on 21 patients among volunteers for lower blepharoplasty who wanted to correct orbitomalar groove and malar wrinkles. Under local anesthesia, lateral extension of subciliary incision is done 1cm from the lateral orbital rim. Skin-muscle flap is elevated, and dealing of orbital fat and septum is the same as with ordinary lower blepharoplasty. After downward subcutaneous dissection through extended incision, exposing the upper 1/3 level of malar fat pad, superolateral fixation is done to superior deep temporal fascia. Excision of the upper part of fat pad is performed, if needed. After excision of overlapped skin-muscle flap, skin closure is done. Results: We obtained satisfactory results with this simple method for improvement of orbitomalar groove and malar wrinkles among patients for lower blepharoplasty. During a follow-up period of 5 months on the average, no revision was performed. Conclusion: Under local anesthesia, lower blepharoplasty and improvement of orbitomalar groove and malar wrinkles can be achieved at the same time. It is good for patients who do not want conventional midface-lifting. But surgeons should select patients and perform cautiously for it may leave a scar of the extended incision that require over 2 months for maturation and it is insufficient for improvement of nasolabial fold compared to conventional mid face-lifts.

The radish skin and radish greens are an edible part of the radish. But they are removed before eating the radish and used as a byproduct or an animal feed material because of their tough and rough texture. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of supercritical heat-treated radish-extract on UV-induced HRM-2 wrinkled mouse animal model on anti-aging wrinkles. Supercritical heat-treated radish-extract was applied on the back of seven-weeks old HRM-2 mice. The effect of HRE on skin thickness, elasticity and wrinkle formation of the mice was observed by using UVB lamp to induce melanogenesis and wrinkle formation. As the result, increased depth of wrinkles was observed in the negative control group in comparison to the normal group. In contrast, decreased depth of wrinkles was observed in the radish-extract-free group compared to the negative control group. In the study of the effect of radish-extract on wrinkle-formation related gene expression and protein what protein expression, MMP-2 and MMP-9 gene expression significantly increased in the negative control group compared to the normal group. The gene expression reduced in dependence to the mass of radish-extract treated. Similar to quantitative results of mRNA expression, the expression of MMP-2 protein increased as a result of UVB-irradiation. The MMP-2 expression was inhibited in dependence to the mass of radish-extract treated. In conclusion, the supercritical heat-treated radish-extract has an effect on improving skin wrinkles not only when it is applied to the skin but also when orally ingested. Thus, it can be effectively used as a composition to health functional products. Therefore we can also conclude that radish a food that does not show any side-effects even upon long-term intake can reduce wrinkle formation as well as improve skin elasticity when taken regularly for a long period.

Thin films easily wrinkle under compressive loading due to their small bending stiffness resulting from their tiny thickness. For a thin film deposited on a functionally graded substrate with non-uniform stiffness exponentially changes along the length span in this paper, the uniaxial wrinkling problem is solved analytically in terms of hyper-Bessel functions. For infinite, semi-infinite and finite length systems the wrinkling load and wrinkling wavenumber are determined and compared with those in literature. In comparison with a homogeneous substrate-bounded film in which the wrinkling pattern is uniform along the length span, for a functionally graded substrate-film system the wrinkles accumulate around the softer location of the functionally graded substrate. Therefore, the effective length of the film influenced by the wrinkles decreases, the amplitude of the wrinkles on softer regions of the functionally graded substrate grows and the wrinkling load of the functionally graded substrates with higher softening rate decreases more. The results of the current research are expected to be useful in science and technology of thin films and wrinkling of the structures especially living tissues.

In this paper, we proposed eyeglass type periorbital wrinkle treatment device for reducing and improving periorbital wrinkles using near infrared LED of 850nm wavelength and galvanic current. The proposed periorbital wrinkle treatment device is equipped with a control system based on F-PCB. It consists of eight near-infrared LEDs and four indicator LEDs for treatment of right and left periorbital wrinkles. The eyeglass frame is coated with conductive material, so galvanic current can flow to the skin of periorbital wrinkle contacted to it. One male adult in the mid-40s was allowed to use the device for 10 minutes every day for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, image analysis using optical equipment for measuring wrinkles indicated that wrinkle indexes were reduced.

The freshness of apple was evaluated by characterizing the surface texture of flesh cells. The freshness index which was related to the amount of wrinkles on the cell surface was defined to quantify the freshness. Four parameters relevant to the amount of the cell wrinkles were selected and measured using image analysis including wrinkle extraction procedure and Fast Fourier Transform of a wrinkle-extracted image. Out of 4 parameters, three parameters had highly significant correlations with the time elapsed after harvest. But it was concluded that two parameters out of such 3 parameters could be used for description of freshness index.
