  • A recent advance in communication technologies accelerates the spread of food safety issues once presented by the news media. To respond to those safety issues and take steps in a timely manner, automatically detecting related information from the news data matters. This work presents an AI-based system that detects risk information within a food-related news article. Experts in food safety areas participated in labeling risk information from the food-related news articles; we acquired 43,527 articles in which food names and risk information are marked as labels. Based on the news document, our system automatically detects food names and risk information by analyzing similarities between words within a text by leveraging learned word embedding vectors. Our AI-based system shows higher detection accuracy scores over a non-AI rule-based system: achieving an absolute gain of +32.94% in F1 for the food name category and +41.53% for the risk information category.

  • For over half a century, the United States (US) and its coalition military aircrafts have been using Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band analog modulation (AM) radios in ground-to-air communication and short-range air-to-air communications. Evolving from this, since 2007, the US military and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) adopted HAVE QUICK to be used by almost all aircrafts, because it had been revealed that intercepting and jamming of former aircraft communication signals was possible, which placed a serious threat to defense systems. The second-generation Anti-jam Tactical UHF Radio for NATO (SATURN) was developed to replace HAVE QUICK systems by 2023. The NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 4372 is a classified document that defines the SATURN technical and operational specifications. In preparation of this future upgrade to SATURN systems, in this paper, the SATURN technical and operational specifications are reviewed, and the network synchronization, frequency hopping, and communication setup parameters that are controlled by the Network (NET) Time, Time Of Day (TOD), Word Of Day (WOD), and Multiple Word of Day (MWOD) are described in addition to SATURN Edition 3 (ED3) and future Edition 4 (ED4) basic features. In addition, an anti-jamming performance analysis (in reference to partial band jamming and pulse jamming) and the time delay queueing model analysis are conducted based on a SATURN transmitter and receiver assumed model.

  • Korean grammar checkers typically detect context-dependent errors by employing heuristic rules that are manually formulated by a language expert. These rules are appended each time a new error pattern is detected. However, such grammar checkers are not consistent. In order to resolve this shortcoming, we propose new method for generalizing error decision rules to detect the above errors. For this purpose, we use an existing thesaurus KorLex, which is the Korean version of Princeton WordNet. KorLex has hierarchical word senses for nouns, but does not contain any information about the relationships between cases in a sentence. Through the Tree Cut Model and the MDL(minimum description length) model based on information theory, we extract noun classes from KorLex and generalize error decision rules from these noun classes. In order to verify the accuracy of the new method in an experiment, we extracted nouns used as an object of the four predicates usually confused from a large corpus, and subsequently extracted noun classes from these nouns. We found that the number of error decision rules generalized from these noun classes has decreased to about 64.8%. In conclusion, the precision of our grammar checker exceeds that of conventional ones by 6.2%.

  • For the recent several years, there has been much interest in lexical semantic network However it seems to be very difficult to evaluate the effectiveness and correctness of it and invent the methods for applying it into various problem domains. In order to offer the fundamental ideas about how to evaluate and utilize lexical semantic networks, we developed two automatic vol·d clustering systems, which are called system A and system B respectively. 68.455.856 words were used to learn both systems. We compared the clustering results of system A to those of system B which is extended by the lexical-semantic network. The system B is extended by reconstructing the feature vectors which are used the elements of the lexical-semantic network of 3.656 '-ha' verbs. The target data is the 'multilingual Word Net-CoroNet'. When we compared the accuracy of the system A and system B, we found that system B showed the accuracy of 46.6% which is better than that of system A. 45.3%.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the patterns of the keywords in journals in the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify the knowledge structure of CBT studies in Korea. To compare CBT studies from Korea and abroad, 234 articles (2008-2019) published on "Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Korea" and 2,316 articles (1977-2019) published on "Cognitive Therapy and Research" were collected. The data were analyzed using NetMiner 4.3. The co-word analysis was done by calculating the cosine similarity matrix of major keywords, followed by visualizing the network. The results of this study identified the main interests of Korean CBT scholars, and categorized the knowledge structure of CBT in Korea into 9 research areas: "scale validation"; "perfectionism and entrapment"; "cognitive, emotional, and relationship characteristics of schizophrenic patients"; "cognitive characteristics and treatment of borderline personality disorder and depression/bipolar disorder patients"; "adaptation and psychological health"; "cognitive characteristics and treatment of patients with social anxiety disorder"; "causes and co-morbidities of depression"; "acceptance and commitment therapy"; and "understanding and the treatment of binge eating disorder patients." This study is meaningful in that it has reviewed the accumulated knowledge in the CBT field in Korea for the past 11 years, and suggests future tasks for development to improve the standards of CBT practice.

  • Efforts to identify user's recognition which exists in the big data are being conducted actively. They try to measure scores of people's view about products, movies and social issues by analyzing statements raised on Internet bulletin boards or SNS. So this study deals with the problem of determining how to find the emotional vocabulary and the degree of these values. The survey methods are using the results of previous studies for the basic emotional vocabulary and degree, and inferring from the dictionary's glosses for the extended emotional vocabulary. The results were found to have the 4 emotional words lists (vocabularies) as basic emotional list, extended 1 stratum 1 level list from basic vocabulary's glosses, extended 2 stratum 1 level list from glosses of non-emotional words, and extended 2 stratum 2 level list from glosses' glosses. And we obtained the emotional degrees by applying the weight of the sentences and the emphasis multiplier values on the basis of basic emotional list. Experimental results have been identified as AND and OR sentence having a weight of average degree of included words. And MULTIPLY sentence having 1.2 to 1.5 weight depending on the type of adverb. It is also assumed that NOT sentence having a certain degree by reducing and reversing the original word's emotional degree. It is also considered that emphasis multiplier values have 2 for 1 stratum and 3 for 2 stratum.

  • Abstract- In distant-talking environments, speech recognition performance degrades significantly due to noise and reverberation. Recent work of Michael L. Selzer shows that in microphone array speech recognition, the word error rate can be significantly reduced by adapting the beamformer weights to generate a sequence of features which maximizes the likelihood of the correct hypothesis. In this approach, called Likelihood Maximizing Beamforming algorithm (Limabeam), one of the method to implement this Limabeam is an UnSupervised Limabeam(USL) that can improve recognition performance in any situation of environment. From our investigation for this USL, we could see that because the performance of optimization depends strongly on the transcription output of the first recognition step, the output become unstable and this may lead lower performance. In order to improve recognition performance of USL, some post-filter techniques can be employed to obtain more correct transcription output of the first step. In this work, as a post-filtering technique for first recognition step of USL, we propose to add a Wiener-Filter combined with Feature Weighted Malahanobis Distance to improve recognition performance. We also suggest an alternative way to implement Limabeam algorithm for Hidden Markov Network (HM-Net) speech recognizer for efficient implementation. Speech recognition experiments performed in real distant-talking environment confirm the efficacy of Limabeam algorithm in HM-Net speech recognition system and also confirm the improved performance by the proposed method.
