Since the performance of mobile devices is recently improved, the requirement of information retrieval is increased in the mobile devices as well as PCs. If a mobile device with small memory uses a tradition language analysis tool to extract nouns from korean texts, it will impose a burden of analysing language. As a result, the need for the language analysis tools adequate to the mobile devices is increasing. Therefore, this paper proposes a new method for noun extraction using post-noun morpheme sequences and noun patterns from a large corpus. The proposed noun extractor has only the dictionary capacity of 146KB and its performance shows 0.86 $F_1$-measure; the capacity of noun dictionary corresponds to only the 4% capacity of the existing noun extractor with a POS tagger. In addition, it easily extract nouns for unknown word because its dependence for noun dictionaries is low.
VSField-associated term is a single or compound word whose terms occur in any document, and which makes it possible to recognize a field of text by using common knowledge of human. For example, human recognizes the field of document such as or , a field name of text, when she encounters a word 'Pitcher' or 'election', respectively We Proposes an efficient construction method of field-associated terms (FTs) for specializing field to decide a field of text. We could fix document classification scheme from well-classified document database or corpus. Considering focus field we discuss levels and stability ranks of field-associated terms. To construct a balanced FT collection, we construct a single FTs. From the collections we could automatically construct FT's levels, and stability ranks. We propose a new extraction algorithms of FT's for document classification by using FT's concentration rate, its occurrence frequencies.

In this paper, we propose optimal methodologies for classifying patent literature by examining various feature extraction methods, machine learning and deep learning models, and provide optimal performance through experiments. We compared the traditional BoW method and a distributed representation method (word embedding vector) as a feature extraction, and compared the morphological analysis and multi gram as the method of constructing the document collection. In addition, classification performance was verified using traditional machine learning model and deep learning model. Experimental results show that the best performance is achieved when we apply the deep learning model with distributed representation and morphological analysis based feature extraction. In Section, Class and Subclass classification experiments, We improved the performance by 5.71%, 18.84% and 21.53%, respectively, compared with traditional classification methods.
Now named-entity recognition(NER) as a part of information extraction has been used in the fields of information retrieval as well as question-answering systems. Unlike words, named-entities(NEs) are generated and changed steadily in documents on the Web, newspapers, and so on. The NE generation causes an unknown word problem and makes many application systems with NER difficult. In order to alleviate this problem, this paper proposes a new feature generation method for machine learning-based NER. In general features in machine learning-based NER are related with words, but entities in named-entity dictionaries are related to phrases. So the entities are not able to be directly used as features of the NER systems. This paper proposes an encoding scheme as a feature generation method which converts phrase entities into features of word units. Futhermore, due to this scheme, entities with semantic information in WordNet can be converted into features of the NER systems. Through our experiments we have shown that the performance is increased by about 6% of F1 score and the errors is reduced by about 38%.
One of the purposes of Information Technology (IT) is to support human response to natural and social problems such as natural disasters and spread of disease, and to improve the quality of human life. Recent climate change has happened worldwide, natural disasters threaten the quality of life, and human safety is no longer guaranteed. IT must be able to support tasks related to disaster response, and more importantly, it should be used to predict and minimize future damage. In South Korea, the data related to the damage is checked out by each local government and then federal government aggregates it. This data is included in disaster reports that the federal government discloses by disaster case, but it is difficult to obtain raw data of the damage even for research purposes. In order to obtain data, information extraction may be applied to disaster reports. In the field of information extraction, most of the extraction targets are web documents, commercial reports, SNS text, and so on. There is little research on information extraction for government disaster reports. They are mostly text, but the structure of each sentence is very different from that of news articles and commercial reports. The features of the government disaster report should be carefully considered. In this paper, information extraction method for South Korea government reports in the word format is presented. This method is based on patterns and dictionaries and provides some additional ideas for tokenizing the damage representation of the text. The experiment result is F1 score of 80.2 on the test set. This is close to cutting-edge information extraction performance before applying the recent deep learning algorithms.
This paper proposes a feature extraction method using wavelet transform for speech recognition. Speech recognition system generally carries out the recognition task based on speech features which are usually obtained via time-frequency representations such as Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and Linear Predictive Coding(LPC). In some respects these methods may not be suitable for representing highly complex speech characteristics. They map the speech features with same may not frequency resolutions at all frequencies. Wavelet transform overcomes some of these limitations. Wavelet transform captures signal with fine time resolutions at high frequencies and fine frequency resolutions at low frequencies, which may present a significant advantage when analyzing highly localized speech events. Based on this motivation, this paper investigates the effectiveness of wavelet transform for feature extraction of wavelet transform for feature extraction focused on enhancing speech recognition. The proposed method is implemented using Sampled Continuous Wavelet Transform (SCWT) and its performance is tested on a speaker-independent isolated word recognizer that discerns 50 Korean words. In particular, the effect of mother wavelet employed and number of voices per octave on the performance of proposed method is investigated. Also the influence on the size of mother wavelet on the performance of proposed method is discussed. Throughout the experiments, the performance of proposed method is discussed. Throughout the experiments, the performance of proposed method is compared with the most prevalent conventional method, MFCC (Mel0frequency Cepstral Coefficient). The experiments show that the recognition performance of the proposed method is better than that of MFCC. But the improvement is marginal while, due to the dimensionality increase, the computational loads of proposed method is substantially greater than that of MFCC.

Keyphrase extraction is one of fundamental natural language processing (NLP) tools to improve many text-mining applications such as document summarization and clustering. In this paper, we propose to use two novel techniques on the top of the state-of-the-art keyphrase extraction methods. First is the anti-patterns that aim to recognize non-keyphrase candidates. The state-of-the-art methods often used the rich feature set to identify keyphrases while those rich feature set cover only some of all keyphrases because keyphrases share very few similar patterns and stylistic features while non-keyphrase candidates often share many similar patterns and stylistic features. Second one is to use the dependency graph instead of the word co-occurrence graph that could not connect two words that are syntactically related and placed far from each other in a sentence while the dependency graph can do so. In experiments, we have compared the performances with different settings of the graphs (co-occurrence and dependency), and with the existing method results. Finally, we discovered that the combination method of dependency graph and anti-patterns outperform the state-of-the-art performances.

Named entity recognition (NER) continues to be an important task in natural language processing because it is featured as a subtask and/or subproblem in information extraction and machine translation. In Urdu language processing, it is a very difficult task. This paper proposes various deep recurrent neural network (DRNN) learning models with word embedding. Experimental results demonstrate that they improve upon current state-of-the-art NER approaches for Urdu. The DRRN models evaluated include forward and bidirectional extensions of the long short-term memory and back propagation through time approaches. The proposed models consider both language-dependent features, such as part-of-speech tags, and language-independent features, such as the "context windows" of words. The effectiveness of the DRNN models with word embedding for NER in Urdu is demonstrated using three datasets. The results reveal that the proposed approach significantly outperforms previous conditional random field and artificial neural network approaches. The best f-measure values achieved on the three benchmark datasets using the proposed deep learning approaches are 81.1%, 79.94%, and 63.21%, respectively.

For question-answering system, question analysis module finds the question points from user's natural language questions, classifies the question types, and extracts some useful information for answer. This paper proposes a question type classifying technique based on focus words extracted from questions and word semantic information, instead of complicated rules or huge knowledge resources. It also shows how to find the question type without focus words, and how useful the synonym or postfix information to enhance the performance of classifying module.
In this study, comments on restaurants, movies, and mobile devices, as well as tweet messages regardless of specific domains were analyzed for sentimental information content. We proposed a system for extraction of objects (or aspects) and opinion words from each sentence and the subsequent evaluation. For the sentiment analysis, we conducted a comparative evaluation between the Structural SVM algorithm and the Latent Structural SVM. As a result, the latter showed better performance and was able to extract objects/aspects and opinion words using VP/NP analyzed by the dependency parser tree. Lastly, we also developed and evaluated the sentiment detector model for use in practical services.
