The purpose of this study is to analyze drum performance techniques, focusing on the representative artists of funk music, who had a revival starting in the 1970s. The purpose of this study is to analyze the creativity shown in David Garibaldi's playing technique, which had a great influence on drum majors with his funk drum playing technique. As a research method, 'James Brown', 'Earth, Wind & Fire' and 'Tower of Power' with David Garibaldi as drummer were selected as representative bands. For the study period, the drum performance was examined by selecting two representative songs from among the songs released between 1965 and 1975, when the development of the corresponding funk music began. David Garibaldi's creative performance in this study is as follows. First, we tried to create a new rhythm in the form of changing the beat or resting the beat out of the frame of contemporary drum performance. Second, the 'Paradiddle', 'Accent', and 'Swiss Army triplet' rudiment techniques were applied to the entire drum kit, bringing innovation to the rhythm. Third, the samba pattern of Latin rhythm and the form of 'Afro-Cuban' were grafted onto funk music. Fourth, the idea of Unison Rhythm obtained from the structure of Latin music was applied to funk music. Based on this study, it is hoped that research on drum performance techniques of various genres will be conducted.

In order to reuse existing onshore turbine foundations, it is important to redesign and reinforce the existing foundations according to the upgraded tower diameter and turbine load. In the present study, a slab extension reinforcement method and structure details of an anchorage part were examined in consideration of the reuse of spread footings, which are the most widely used foundation type in onshore wind turbine foundations. Experiments were conducted to evaluate the load resistance performance of a reinforced spread footing according to structure details of an anchorage part. The results showed that (1) the strength of an anchorage part could be increased by more than 30 % by adding reinforcement bars in the anchorage part, (2) pile-sleeves attached to an anchor ring contributed to an increase in rotational stiffness by preventing shear slip behavior between the anchor ring and the concrete, and (3) slab connectors contributed to an increase in the strength and deformation capacity by preventing the separation of new and old concrete slabs.
In the prediction of response of a pile in soil, numerical approaches such as a finite element method are generally applied due to complicate nonlinear behaviors of soils. However, the numerical methods based on the finite elements require heavy efforts in pile and soil modelling and also take long computing time. So their usage is limited especially in the early design stage in which principal dimensions and properties are not specified and tend to vary. On the contrary, theoretical approaches adopting linear approximations for soils are relatively simple and easy to model and take short computing time. Therefore, if they are validated to be reliable, they would be applicable in predicting responses of a pile in soil, particularly in early design stage. In case of wind turbines regarded in this study, it is required to assess their natural frequencies in early stages, and in this simulation the supporting pile inserted in soil could be replaced with a simplified elastic boundary condition at the bottom end of the wind turbine tower. To do this, analysis for a pile in soil is performed in this study to extract the spring constants at the top end of the pile. The pile in soil can be modelled as a beam on elastic spring by assuming that the soils deform within an elastic range. In this study, it is attempted to predict pile deformations and influence factors for lateral loads by means of the beam-on-spring model. As two example supporting structures for wind turbines, mono pile and suction pile models with different diameters are examined by evaluating their influence factors and validated by comparing them with those reported in literature. In addition, the deflection profiles along the depth and spring constants at the top end of the piles are compared to assess their supporting features.

In order to ensure a standardized data analysis of the eddy covariance measurements, Hong and Kim's quality control program has been updated and used to process eddy covariance data measured at two levels on the main flux tower at Gwangneung site from January to May in 2005. The updated program was allowed to remove outliers automatically for $CO_2$ and latent heat fluxes. The flag system consists of four quality groups(G, D, B and M). During the study period, the missing data were about 25% of the total records. About 60% of the good quality data were obtained after the quality control. The number of record in G group was larger at 40m than at 20m. It is due that the level of 20m was within the roughness sublayer where the presence of the canopy influences directly on the character of the turbulence. About 60% of the bad data were due to low wind speed. Energy balance closure at this site was about 40% during the study period. Large imbalance is attributed partly to the combined effects of the neglected heat storage terms, inaccuracy of ground heat flux and advection due to local wind system near the surface. The analysis of wind direction indicates that the frequent occurrence of positive momentum flux was closely associated with mountain valley wind system at this site. The negative $CO_2$ flux at night was examined in terms of averaging time. The results show that when averaging time is larger than 10min, the magnitude of calculated $CO_2$ fluxes increases rapidly, suggesting that the 30min $CO_2$ flux is influenced severely by the mesoscale motion or nonstationarity. A proper choice of averaging time needs to be considered to get accurate turbulent fluxes during nighttime.

We report the first direct measurement of $CO_2$ flux over Kwangneung broadleaf deciduous forest, one of the tower flux sites in KoFlux network. Eddy covariance system was installed on a 30 m tower along with other meteorological instruments from June to August in 2002. Although the study site was non-ideal (with valley-like terrain), turbulence characteristics from limited wind directions (i.e., 90$\pm$45$^{\circ}$) was not significantly different from those obtained at simple, homogeneous terrains with an ideal fetch. Despite very low rate of data retrieval, preliminary results from our analysis are encouraging and worthy of further investigation. Ignoring the role of advection terms, the averaged net ecosystem exchange (NEE) of $CO_2$ ranged from -1.2 to 0.7 mg m$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ from June to August in 2002. The effect of weak turbulence on nocturnal NEE was examined in terms of friction velocity (u*) along with the estimation of storage term. The effect of low uf u* NEE was obvious with a threshold value of about 0.2 m s$^{-1}$ . The contribution of storage term to nocturnal NEE was insignificant; suggesting that the $CO_2$ stored within the forest canopy at night was probably removed by the drainage flow along the hilly terrain. This could be also an artifact of uncertainty in calculations of storage term based on a single-level concentration. The hyperbolic light response curves explained >80% of variation in the observed NEE, indicating that $CO_2$ exchange at the site was notably light-dependent. Such a relationship can be used effectively in filling up the missing gaps in NEE data through the season. Finally, a simple scaling analysis based on a linear flow model suggested that advection might play a significant role in NEE evaluation at this site.

Haeundae Doosan We've The Zenith project is adjacent to Suyoung-bay, now it is in the process of excavation and foundation work. The main use of the tower is residence which height is 300m and 80 floor, the highest residential reinforced concrete building through the Orient. It is comprised of 3 high- rised buildings and 1 low-rised building, the basement is 230m wide and 200m length sized mass structure. The lateral resistance system is acted effectively against the lateral load and satisfactorily against the wind vibration by the 4 direction extension of the center core wall($700{\sim}800mm$ thickness) and reinforced concrete column set around the slab. Flat-plate slab system(250mm thickness) is adjusted for the slab system and it enables effective work process and shortening the working term by minimizing the ceiling height and not needing to install perimeter beam and drop panel. The strength and serviceability of the structure is able to be monitored and estimated constantly through the health monitoring system during the construction and after the construction.

The temporal and diel changes of cyanobacterial cell density, species composition, and cyanobacterial toxins (microcystin-RR, -YR, -LR) were examined for the outflow water of Lake Suwa in Japan from May to October, 1998. The highest total cell densities of Microcystis were observed in July and September, when the dominant phytoplankton was Microcystis ichthyoblabe and M. viridis, respectively. Both the species composition and total cell density of Microcystis affected the variation of the concentration of three microcystin variants. Only microcystin-RR(MC-RR) and -LR (MC-LR) were detected in July when Microcystis ichthyoblabe dominated, while microcystin-RR, -YR (MC-YR) and -LR were detected in August and October when Microcystis viridis dominated. The microcystin concentration and the cell density of Microcystis in the outflow water showed diel variations; the ratio of maximum to minimum value was $3{\sim}20$ fold far microcystin concentration, and $5{\sim}31$ fold for cell density. The diel variations of toxin concentration as well as Microcystis cell density was closely related to the diel variation of wind. During the windy period, when higher speeds occurred in the afternoon hours than morning hours, both the cell density of Microcystis and microcystin concentration tended to increase in the morning and decrease in the afternoon. The results of this study suggest that controlling the timing of lake discharge at the floodgate or intake tower can be useful for water resource management with respect to decreasing cyanobacteria biomass within intake water.

Foundation of tower structures such as wind turbine, pylon, and chimney have to resist considerably large overturning moment due to long distance from foundations to load point and large horizontal load. Pile foundations subjected to uplift force are needed to economically support such structure even in the case of rock layer. Therefore, this research performed the laboratory model tests with the variables, W/C ratio and sand proportion, to evaluate the effect of the mix proportion of grouting material on shaft resistance. In the case of cement paste, maximum and residual shaft resistance were distributed in uniform range irrespective of the changes of W/C ratio. However in the case of mortar, they were decreased with increasing W/C ratio, while they were increased and then decreased with increasing sand proportion. In the case of no sand, the maximum shaft resistance was about 540~560kPa regardless of the W/C ratio. When the sand proportion was 40%, it was about 770~870kPa depending on W/C ratio, which was about 40~50% higher than that without sand. The optimum proportion found in this research was around 40% of sand proportion and 80~100% of W/C ratio.

In this study, the monthly airborne chlorides flying into the offshore bridges were investigated depending on the sea level. The target structures were 9 bridges located on the western and southern coast of South Korea. The airborne chlorides were measured at different sea levels on each bridge every month during 1 year. The results showed that the strongest seasonal wind from the northwest in winter expecially have led increase of the airborne chlorides, and its effect was more significant in the western coast than the southern coast. It was also found that the airborne chlorides declined with the increase of sea level. Three types of curves were suggested for analyzing the decrease trend with the sea level, based on the airborne chlorides at the lowest measurement height of main tower. The trend was varied depending on the sea area, and even in the same sea area, the local topographic condition affected the airborne chlorides. It means that the location and local topography should be considered simultaneously for durability management in the framework of the chloride source, and then the influence of the chloride source should be classified, e.g. safe and dangerous. From these results, it is expected that it could be used as baseline data for the evaluation of the deterioration environment in the Detailed guidelines for safety and maintenance of facilities [Performance evaluation]_Bridge.

Jack-up drilling rigs are mobile offshore platforms widely used in the offshore oil and gas exploration industry. These are independent, three-legged, self-elevating units with a cantilevered drilling facility for drilling and production. A typical jack-up rig includes a triangular hull, a tower derrick, a cantilever, a jackcase, living quarters and legs which comprise three-chord, open-truss, X-braced structure with a spudcan. Generally, jack-up rigs can only operate in water depths ranging from 130m to 170m. Recently, there has been an increasing demand for jack-up rigs for operating at deeper water levels and harsher environmental conditions such as waves, currents and wind loads. All static and dynamic loads are supported through legs in the jack-up mode. The most important issue by society is to secure the safety of the leg structure against collision that causes large instantaneous impact energy. In this study, nonlinear FE -analysis and verification of the requirement against collision for 35MJ recommended by DNV was performed using LS-Dyna software. The colliding ship used a 7,500ton of shore supply vessel, and five scenarios of collisions were selected. From the results, all conditions do not satisfy the class requirement of 35MJ. The loading conditions associated with chord collision are reasonable collision energy of 15M and brace collisions are 6MJ. Therefore, it can be confirmed that the identical collision criteria by DNV need to be modified based on collision scenarios and colliding members.
