The average growth in the wind power energy market during the past five years has been 26% per year. Renewable energy resources, of which wind energy is prominent, are part of the solution to the global energy problem. Wind power system and the rotor blade concepts are reviewed, and loadings by wind and gravity as important factors for the mechanical performance of the materials are considered. So, the mechanical properties of fiber composite materials are discussed. In addition, it is necessary to analyze and evaluate the stress distribution and deformation for them in the design level. This study shows the result that CFRP rotor blade of wind turbine satisfies the strength and deformation through numerical analysis using the commercial finite element analysis program.
Renewable energy resources such as wind, wave, solar, micro hydro, tidal and biomass etc are becoming important stage by stage, considering the effect of environment. Wind energy is one of the most successful sources of renewable energy for the production of electrical energy. What's more, due to wind speed random variation the wind turbine generators can not make two-state model as conventional generators. The method of obtaining reliability evaluation indices of wind turbine generators is different from the conventional generators. This paper presents a study on the reliability evaluation of power system considering wind turbine generators with a simplified multi-state model.
This paper presents the method to determine the battery capacity for controlling the wind power with BESS for stabilizing the output of HanGeong wind farm in accordance with grid codes for distributed generators in Jeju Island. To find appropriate capacity of BESS, three kinds of simulations are carried out : There are focused on smoothing control, the frequency fluctuation and the renewable energy resources standards, respectively. As the simulation result, maximum C-rates of BESS for the wind farm are calculated as 2C, 5C and 2C that are for each method and battery capacities have 25%, 20% and 10% of total capacity of HanGeong wind farm. Finally, simulations for this paper are carried out by using PSCAD/EMTDC.

In this study, the separation efficiency of wind power selector (the direction of the air flow of the air to perform gravity separation method) of municipal solid waste which was landfilled was investigated to reduce amount of waste that is designed to increase the recycling rate of wastes for the ANSYS CFX Program's numerical methods with wind through the separator. When a suction device designed to suction 1000mL of a plastic bag, the separation efficiency was 100% and when the wind speed was 0.9 m /sec or more and when the wind speed was 1.6 m / sec or more, the efficiency of plastic bottles in a mixture of 500mL and 1500mL plastic bottle waste was 100% and the aluminum screening efficiency of 250mL aluminum can was 100 % when the wind speed was 2.3 m / sec. In the last, 5mm thick compressed aluminum can efficiency was 90 % when the wind speed was 2.4 m / sec.
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the wind energy resources with high spatial resolution in Sunghak and Guduck mountains in Busan Metropolitan area under the various atmospheric stabilities. The numerical model used in this research is A2C (Atmosphere to CFD), mainly applied to assess the regional scale and microscale meteorological phenformin. Wind under the strong atmospheric stability moves around mountain side smoothly due to the strong potential energy. On the other hand, the cavity region on the lee side of mountain tends to be created and expanded as the atmospheric stability decrease. Annually the average distribution of wind power density, turbulence kinetic energy, and vertical wind shear help to explain quantitatively that wind resource near the northern side of Guduck mountain top is more suitable to establish wind energy complex than that in any other regions in the target area.
Most airfoils for wind turbines commercially available have been developed for aircrafts, which are operated at high Reynolds numbers. However, Reynolds numbers of wind turbines are very low compared to those of aircrafts. In other to improve wind turbine performances, airfoils for the use of wind turbine shall be designed such as S-series airfoils developed by NREL in America. The authors have designed new airfoils for wind turbines considering designated operation conditions of wind turbines and even local wind resources in Korea. The designed airfoils are characterized by improved roughness insensitivities compared to other airfoils such as S814 and S820. The developed KWA005-240 and KWA009-127 are for root and tip sections of a wind turbine blade, respectively. Although the results show much improved performances against NACA airfoils, performance data of post-stall regulation loses some accuracies due to the characteristics of the simulation tool of XFOIL. Therefore, wind tunnel experiments are required for more accurate evaluation of the designed airfoils. Currently, the experiments has been completed and the data analysis works are going on now. The final results obtained from the experiments will be published soon.

This research has been implemented based on the area of #369 Dowon-dong, Dalseo-gu, Dae-gu which is considered as a place with satisfactory characteristics for the flow of fresh air into the city. Simulations of the target area both prior to the development plan and after apartment complex blocking were analyzed in regard to blocking planning and pilotis based on the main direction of wind, $90^{\circ}$ (east wind) and $180^{\circ}$ (south wind). In addition, congested wind corridor flow in the target place was identified through a pollution spread simulation according to the wind corridor. Therefore, the flow of wind in the one area is affected by the blocking of the complex and the main direction of the wind. Also blocking, in regard of pilotis, provides a better flow of wind. This study was implemented based on wind formation by apartment complex planning, so further study on the other factors affecting the flow of a wind corridor along with block planning and pilotis need to be carried out. Sustainable environmental factors through analysis of the environmental factors have to be analyzed. Moreover, building and complementing fundamental resources and systematic devices should be supported.
The purpose for installation of offshore weather station is a measurement of wind resources and so on. If weather station is operated, it will be possible to analysis for wind resource and arrangement of wind farm by using measured data. In this paper, we carried out the development of offshore wind resource measurement system for measuring offshore wind resource. Also, In order to monitor for real-time wind data with 1 Hz, we installed the wireless transmission system. All wind characteristic data are sent to the server PC through the this system is connected outport of DataLogger. Transmitted wind data were used in order to look at in the Web-page and tablet PC on a real time basis in a graph. In this paper, we will introduce about the wind resource measurement and remote monitoring system that is the result of study.
In recent years, there has been a tendency towards renewable energy sources considering the damages caused by non-renewable energy resources to nature and humans. One of the renewable energy sources is wind and energy is obtained with the help of wind turbines. To determine the behavior of wind turbines under earthquake loads, dynamic characteristics are required. In this study, the differential transformation method is proposed to determine the free vibration analysis of wind turbines with a variable cross-section. The wind turbine is modeled as an equivalent variable continuous flexural beam and blade weight is considered as a point mass at the top of the structures. The differential equation representing the free vibration of the wind turbine is transformed into an algebraic equation with the help of differential transformation method and the angular frequencies and the mode shapes of the wind turbine are obtained by the help of the differential transformation method. In the study, a sample taken from the literature was solved with the presented method and the suitability of the method was investigated. The same wind turbine example also modeled by finite element modelling software, ABAQUS. Results of the finite element model and differential transformation method are compared with each other and the results are in good agreement.
The main cause of global warming is carbon dioxide generated from the use of fossil fuels, and active research on the reduction of carbon is in progress to slow down the increasing global warming. Wind turbines generate electricity from kinetic energy of wind and are considered as representative for an energy source that helps to reduce carbon emission. Since the kinetic energy of wind is proportional to the cube of the wind speed, the intensity of wind affects wind farm construction validity the most. Therefore, to organize a wind farm, validity analysis should be conducted first through measurement of the wind resources. To facilitate the approval and permission and reduce installation cost, measuring sensors should be installed at locations below the actual wind turbine hub. Wind conditions change in shape with air density, and air density is most affected by the variable sterrain and surface type. So the magnitude of wind speed depends on the ground altitude. If wind conditions are measured at a location below the wind turbine hub, the wind speed has to be extrapolated to the hub height. This correction of wind speed according to height is done with the Deacon equation used in the statistical analysis of previously observed data. In this study, the optimal Deacon equation parameter was obtained through the analysis of the correction of the wind speed error with the Deacon equation based on the characteristics of terrain.
