  • Simple Lie albegras over algebraically closed field with characteristic p > 7 were classified by H. Strade and R. L. Wilson in 1991 [7]. All modular representations of simple Lie algebras, however, are not classified although some restricted modular representations have been done earlier by Curtis and Steinberg. In connection with this, we would like to decompose basic $sp_4$(F)-modules $sl_4$-(F) and $gl_4$(F) over nonzero characteristic by way of characteristic zero case.

  • A series of new 2-N-benzyl-5-phenoxy-3-isothiazolone derivatives were synthesized and their in vitro antifungal activities against resistant Phytophthora capsici (RPC) & sensitive Phytophthora capsici (SPC) with metalaxyl fungicide have been measured. In addition, influence of substituted 5-phenoxy group on the -antifungal activities ($pI_{50}$) and the reactivity of substrates were investigated. From the results, reactivity of none substituted substrate showed tendency displaying orbital-controlled reaction. The substituents on the 5-phenoxy ring showed selective fungicidal activity between SPC and RPC. Especially, the 4-fluoro substituent, 6 in the RPC and 4-nitro substituent, 3 in SPC exhibited strongly selective antifungal activity among them. The activities on the SPC would depend largely on the optimal molar refractivity ($MR_{(opt.)}=7.37cm^3/mol$) whereas the activities on the RPC would depend largely on the optimal highest occupied molecular orbital energy ($HOMO_{(opt.)}=-9.2137e.v.$) and weak electron donating (${\sigma}<0$) group. And Free-Wilson analyses revealed that the antifungal activity against RPC depends on the methoxy and bromo-substituent and all of the substituents contribute to antifungal activities against SPC.

  • Optimal synthetic condition of barium sulfate were investigated from the viewpoint of yield and bulkiness according to a randomized complete block design proposed by G.E.P. Box and K.B. Wilson. Barium chloride and magnesium sulfate were utilized as reactants in order to prepare barium sulfate in this study. It was found that optimum temperature range of reactant solutions was $60{\sim}100^{\circ}C$ and the optimum concentration range of the reactant solutions was $10{\sim}17.3%$ and $10{\sim}20%$ respectively, on the viewpoint of yield and bulkiness. The optimum mole ratio of $BaCI_2$ to $BaSO_4$ was in the range of $1.50{\sim}2.0$ and the optimum mole ratio of $BaCI_2$ to $BaSO_4$ was in the range of $1.50{\sim}2.0$ and the optimum reacting time range was $15{\sim}20$ minutes. The optimum drying temperature range was $110{\sim}130^{\circ}C$ from the viewpoint of yield, but it was $90{\sim}110^{\circ}C$ on the basis of bulkiness. Apparent viscosity of barium sulfate suspensions dispersed in various concentrations of Na. CMC was measured by using Brookfield synchrolectric viscometer model LVT, the relative equation, log ${\eta}_{sp}=A+B.{\phi}$ was examined and the equation was found to agree fairly well. 1 w/v% Na. CMC aqueous solution and 0.1 volume fraction of $BaSO_4$ powder were optimum in the preparation of $BaSO_4$ suspension showing highest viscosity at infinite shearing.

  • This study presented a finite element formulation for the dynamic analysis of horizontally curved I-girder bridges. The stiffness and mass matrices of the curved and the straight beam elements are formulated. Each node of both elements has seven degrees of freedom, including the warping degree of freedom. The curved beam element is derived from Kang and Yoo's theory of thin-walled curved beams. The computer program EQCVB has been developed to perform dynamic analyses of various horizontally curved I-girder bridges. The Gupta method is used to solve the eigenvalue problem efficiently, while the Wilson-${\theta}$ method is used for the seismic analysis. The efficiency of EQCVB is demonstrated by comparing solution time with ABAQUS. Using EQCVB, the study is applied to investigate the dynamic behavior of horizontally curved I-girder bridges under seismic loading.

  • High-precision photometric observations were performed in BVI bandpasses using Am robotic telescope at Mt. Lemmon Observatory for two binary stars, which are reclassified as W UMa-type systems from ROTSE(Robotic Optical Transient Search Experiment) follow-up observations and show peculiar light variations. In order to analyze W UMa-type eclipsing binaries systematically, the light curve analysis script using 2005 version of Wilson-Devinney binary code is constructed. The orbital inclinations of GSC2S84-1731 and GSC2576-0319 are $43.^{\circ}5\;and\;57.^{\circ}6$ from light-curve analysis, respectively. Spot model is applied to explain the asymmetric light curve for GSC2S84-1731 and the spot parameters are derived.

  • A total of 824 observations (206 in ${\Delta}B$, 206 in ${\Delta}V$, 206 in ${\Delta}R$, 206 in ${\Delta}I$ for CC Com were made on 3 nights from March 3 to April 3 in 2002 using the 61cm telescope with 2K CCD camera of the Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory of KASI. From our observations 9 times of minimum light were newly determined. Combined analysis of our new BVRI light curves with the double-lined radial velocity curves of Pribulla et al. (2007) were made with the 2004 Wilson-Devinney(WD) binary model code to yield new physical parameters of the CC Com system. Small asymmetries in light curves were explained with the adoption of two hot spots on the cool secondary.

  • This study aims to analyze physicians' online information search process to solve the clinical questions at the point of care. To achieve this purpose, ten university hospital-based physicians participated in-depth interviews and observation studies. Based on Wilson's problem solving process, this study analyzed the characteristics of each information search stage and efficiency of online searching. The results showed that participants tend to relatively immediately formulate their clinical questions. However, basic searching strategies were only used and a few preferred information sources were chosen. However, average satisfaction degree of online searching appeared high with 5.7 (7 Likert-scale) and problem-solving index increased after searching. As physicians are likely to use well organized and evidenced-based credible information easily, it implies the needs for an integrated search system within the electronic medical record (EMR). In addition, as other online resources' awareness is lower comparing Google and PubMed, active promotions and training of other resources are needed.

  • Quantitative structure-toxicity relationships (QSTRs) between various physicochemical parameters of substituents in new herbicidal N-phenyl-3,4-dimethylphthalimide derivatives and their discriminate score (DS) for chronic and acute toxicities against mouse and rat evaluated using TOPKAT calculation were discussed quantitatively. From the basis on the findings, it was shown that carcinogenicities of female was higher than that of male and mouse had higher tendency than rat. The STR analyses results of Hansch-Fujita type equations suggested that mouse (female & male) and rat male except rat female are dependent on LUMO energy commonly in carcinogenicity. The selective carcinogenicity factor of two species between male mouse and female mouse is dependent on optimal value (ca. $(L)_{opt.}=5.0{\AA}$) for length of $R_2$-substituent mainly. According to Free-Wilson approach, in the case of rat male, alkyl and aryl substituents were superior and in the other case, contribution of fluoro group substituents were superior to chronic toxicity.

  • New UBVRI observations of triple star $\lambda$ Tau were made at Chungbuk Ntional University Observatory for 31 nights from Dec. 1990 to Jan. 1994. A total of 2930 photometric observations were obtained with 586 points for each filters, and BVRI light curves were constructed. From the primary light curves, the one times of primary minimum light was determined with a new light element. The photometric solutions of light curves for $\lambda$ Tau were calculated by using Wilson-Devinney method with our BVRI light curves and the BV light curves obtained by Grant(1959). We determined spectroscopic solutions that were satisfied with these two light curves and the radial velocity curves had been collected by Fekel and Tomkin (1982). From these values, absolute dimensions for this system were estimated. The radius and mass for the primary star are turned out to be $8.3R_\odot$ and $8.1m_\odot$, and $6.5R_\odot$ and $2.1m_\odot$ for the secondary star, respectively.

  • The fact that hazardous metals do not bio-degrade or bio-deteriorate translates to long-lasting environmental effects. In the context of evidently rapid global industrialization, this ought to warrant serious caution, particularly in developing countries. In the Republic of Fiji, a developing country in the South Pacific, several different environmental studies over the past 20 years have shown levels of lead, copper, zinc and iron in sediments of the Suva Harbor to be 6.2, 3.9, 3.3 and 2.1 times more than the accepted background reference levels, respectively. High levels of mercury have also been reported in lagoon shellfish. These data inevitably warrant thorough assessment of the waste practices of industries located upstream from the estuaries, but in addition, an exposure and health impact assessment has never been conducted. Relevant government departments are duty-bound, at least to the general public that reside in and consume seafood from the vicinities of the Suva Harbor, to investigate possible human effects of the elevated hazardous metal concentrations found consistently in 20 years of surface sediment analysis. Furthermore, pollution of the intermediate food web with hazardous metals should be investigated, regardless of whether human effects are eventually confirmed present or not.
