In current bridge management systems (BMSs), load and speed restrictions are applied on unhealthy bridges to keep the structure safe and serviceable for as long as possible. But the question is, whether applying these restrictions will always decrease the internal forces in critical components of the bridge and enhance the safety of the unhealthy bridges. To find the answer, this paper for the first time in literature, looks into the design aspects through studying the changes in demand by capacity ratios of the critical components of a bridge under the train loads. For this purpose, a structural model of a simply supported bridge, whose dynamic behaviour is similar to a group of real railway bridges, is developed. Demand by capacity ratios of the critical components of the bridge are calculated, to identify their sensitivity to increase of speed and magnitude of live load. The outcomes of this study are very significant as they show that, on the contrary to what is expected, by applying restriction on speed, the demand by capacity ratio of components may increase and make the bridge unsafe for carrying live load. Suggestions are made to solve the problem.
We all know how beautiful our wild and it's importance to our living planet Earth. But did you realise the speed at which man himself is damaging it's unique natural habitat. We are well on our way to destroy our forests, plants, wetlands. We are polluting our oceans and seas. This way, we're driving numerous animal species, plant species and many others into extinction. Everyone should be aware of the importance of our natural environment. We live in the period of echocide. Why we need nature to survive and how we can deal with the environmental problems we face. This paper has the purpose to reform city's environment. Because, Metropolis and megalopolis are the principal cause of environmental disruption. To reform the city is needed to consider digital technology in our age. In the face of economic and cultural globalization, many have argued that we live an increasingly placeless world. However, as a growing number of cities participate and compete in key marketplaces of advanced capitalism, the spectacle of the city is more than ever a significant medium of communication in its own right. In doing so, this work is focused specifically on the dimension of city's media environment. To that end, the paper examined U-City and U-Eco city. In this study, we will introduce the study on model of U-Eco City as one way for the eco-freindly future city.
Recent advances in model acquisition, computer-aided design, and simulation technologies have resulted in massive databases of complex geometric data occupying multiple gigabytes and even terabytes. In various graphics/geometric applications, the major performance bottleneck is typically in accessing these massive geometric data due to the high complexity of such massive geometric data sets. However, there has been a consistent lower growth rate of data access speed compared to that of computational processing speed. Moreover, recent multi-core architectures aggravate this phenomenon. Therefore, it is expected that the current architecture improvement does not offer the solution to the problem of dealing with ever growing massive geometric data, especially in the case of using commodity hardware. In this tutorial, I will focus on two orthogonal approaches--multi-resolution and cache-coherent layout techniques--to design scalable graphics/geometric algorithms. First, I will discuss multi-resolution techniques that reduce the amount of data necessary for performing geometric methods within an error bound. Second, I will explain cache-coherent layouts that improve the cache utilization of runtime geometric applications. I have applied these two techniques into rendering, collision detection, and iso-surface extractions and, thereby, have been able to achieve significant performance improvement. I will show live demonstrations of view-dependent rendering and collision detection between massive models consisting of tens of millions of triangles on a laptop during the talk.
Edwardsiella tarda predominantly causes edwardsiellosis in fish at high temperature, but is rarely isolated from water when water temperature is low. However, E. tarda is viable but nonculturable (VBNC) in low water temperature, but it can be revived when water temperature rises and cause disease to fish. Therefore, in order to prevent disease, it is very important to identify pathogens that are in the VBNC state in environmental water. In this study, E. tarda cells in the VBNC state were detected by the ethidium monoazide (EMA)-PCR method using the low-temperature oligotrophic sea water microcosm obtained by inoculation of E. tarda at a concentration of $10^8CFU/ml$. In order to distinguish between live and dead bacteria in E. tarda, each sample was treated with EMA at different concentrations, photoactivated with a 500 W halogen lamp, and PCR was performed with E. tarda specific primer. At the concentration of $10^7CFU/ml$ bacterium, DNA amplification was observed only in the live cells when treated with $60{\mu}g/ml$ of EMA, and smaller amounts of live cells could be distinguished from dead cells by adjusting the EMA concentration. In addition, the VBNC cells of E. tarda in the oligotrophic low temperature seawater microcosm were estimated to be in the range of $10^4{\sim}10^5CFU/ml$ by EMA-PCR. Therefore, it is possible to detect VBNC cells that will act as potential pathogens in environmental water using EMA-PCR method, and quantitative confirmation using concentration change is also possible.
The high virulent severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus that emerged in China at the end of 2019 has generated novel coronavirus disease, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), causing a pandemic worldwide. Every country has made great efforts to struggle against SARS-CoV-2 infection, including massive vaccination, immunological patients' surveillance, and the utilization of convalescence plasma for COVID-19 therapy. These efforts are associated with the attempts to increase the titers of SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing Abs (nAbs) generated either after infection or vaccination that represent the body's immune status. As there is no standard therapy for COVID-19 yet, virus eradication will mainly depend on these nAbs contents in the body. Therefore, serological nAbs neutralization assays become a requirement for researchers and clinicians to measure nAbs titers. Different platforms have been developed to evaluate nAbs titers utilizing various epitopes sources, including neutralization assays based on the live virus, pseudovirus, and neutralization assays utilizing recombinant SARS-CoV-2 S glycoprotein receptor binding site, receptor-binding domain. As a standard neutralization assay, the plaque reduction neutralization test (PRNT) requires isolation and propagation of live pathogenic SARS-CoV-2 virus conducted in a BSL-3 containment. Hence, other surrogate neutralization assays relevant to the PRNT play important alternatives that offer better safety besides facilitating high throughput analyses. This review discusses the current neutralization assay platforms used to evaluate nAbs, their techniques, advantages, and limitations.
We live now in information society. High-tech communication technique of information came up to our daily life thoroughly. Then, what will happen to change the field of architecture in information society\ulcorner This study realized architecture in virtual reality by choosing technique in virtual reality that was able to alternate architecture in reality. The result of this study: 1. We promoted some shopping malls by making use of 'an active world' that is one of the virtual reality programs. As a result, we could know that we were able to find out goods faster than reality economically and purchase them in virtual reality. 2. There are many fields that we can adapt the architecture in virtual reality beside the shopping malls. For example, they can be a museum, an art gallery, and educational facility, a movie theater, a government and public office, and a recreation facility. 3. The architecture in virtual reality will cause to change our lifestyles and environments and to coexist architecture in reality.

In this study, designated as scenic in the heart of Darangyi rice field in village of Garchon architectural status to preserve the rural town of quantitative analysis of the characteristics village of Garchon traditional rural villages to build the basis for landscape management are the goal. Most of the buildings housing the seting village of Garchon flavor appears in the form of the natural terrain accept the wall which is exposed on the outside of the roof, wall materials and colors, such as the town without a regular basis to undermine the image of the landscape and so Darangyi rice field standard set for maintenance of landscapes that are needed. Regional officer of the private property of individuals, but local and national recognition of the shared property, and only when done in this regard the establishment of asset and as a scenic area that has to cherish the history and culture between the people who live where the feedback through the exchange of sensitive areas and to the people who live in it will be an alternative to a variety of ways.
This purpose of this study was to explore the implication of the social work practice through the experiences of the users who participated in the crisis support program. To do this, In-depth interviews were carried out with 12 research participants. The data was analyzed by general qualitative research methods. As a result of analysis, prior to participating in the Triangle Project, users lost their will to live in a vicious cycle of life crisis. Through the participation of the service, they were able to receive the integrated support of 'pregnancy - childbirth - rearing'. These experiences ultimately led to the regeneration of the will to live. Based on the results of this study, we suggest practical and policy implications that can complement the limitation of Korean unwed mothers' support system.
In this paper, we present an algorithmic technique for determining a feedback compensator which will stabilize the interval dynamic system, specifically, the robust regulator design for interval plants. The approach taken here is to allow the system parameters to live within prescribed intervals then design a dynamic feedback compensator which guarantees closed-loop system stable. The main contribution of this paper is the idea of introducing a "simplified Kharitonov's result" for low order polynomials to search for suitable compensator parameters in the compensator parameter space to make the uncertain syste robust. We also design the robust regulator which will D-stabilize (have the closed-loop poles in the left sector only) the dynamic interval system while having good performance. The nuerical examples are given to show the substantially improved robustness which results from our approach. approach.

Structural health monitoring is concerned with the safety and serviceability of the users of structures, especially for the case of building structures and infrastructures. When considering the safety of a structure, the maximum stress in a member due to live load, earthquake, wind, or other unexpected loadings must be checked not to exceed the stress specified in a code. It will not fail at yield, excessively large displacements will deteriorate the serviceability of a structure. To guarantee the safety and serviceability of structures, the maximum displacement in a structures must be monitored because actual displacement is a direct assessment index on its stiffness. However, no practical method has been reported to monitor the displacement, especially for the case of displacement of high-rise buildings because of not to easy accessive. In this paper, it is studied displacement measuring method of high-rise buildings using LiDAR The method is evaluated by analyzing accuracy of measured displacements for existing building.
