  • This paper presents a tri-wideband bandpass filter (TWB-BPF) with compact size, high band-to-band isolation, and multiple transmission zeros (TZs). The proposed TWB-BPF is based on a multiple-mode resonator (MMR), which is interpreted by the method of the even- and odd-mode analysis technique. The MMR can excite 11 resonant modes, where the first two modes comprise the first passband, the next four modes form the second passband, and the last five modes are used to generate the third passband. In addition, 10 TZs are yielded to obtain high band-to-band isolation and wide stopband suppression characteristics up to $14.95f_{c1}$ ($f_{c1}$ is the center frequency of the first passband). To verify the proposed filter, a TWB-BPF with 3-dB fractional bandwidths (FBWs) of 37.4%, 43.5%, and 40.4% is designed, fabricated, and measured.

  • A microstrip dual-wideband bandpass filter using a multimode resonator (MMR) is proposed in this letter. The proposed MMR loaded with a T-shaped open-ended stub and a short-ended stub exhibits triple mode characteristics, and a synthesis method is developed to illustrate the wide passband with independently controllable center frequencies and bandwidths. To verify this design methodology, a dual-wideband filter with fractional bandwidths of 19.1% and 27.9% is designed and fabricated. The measured results agree with the simulations.

  • In this paper, we have proposed the folded feed structure for the spurious harmonic suppression and we have designed the SIR CPW bandpass filter using this feed structure. The characteristic of the proposed feed structure was similar to that of the lowpass filter has wide stopband region and this can be used usefully to the spurious harmonic suppression of the bandpass filter. From the simulation and the measurement result, SIR CPW bandpass filter with folded feed structure has good harmonic suppression characteristics up to 5.8 f$\sub$0/ with -20 dB suppression level.

  • Modified compact combline bandpass filters are proposed based on the miniaturized quarter-wave transmission line which is composed of the parallel coupled line and lumped capacitors. The electrical length of the parallel coupled line in a resonator, which determines the size of combline bandpass filters, is just $5^{\circ}$ or $7^{\circ}$, resulting in a compact circuit area. The designed combline bandpass filter also has a wide upper stopband by suppressing the spurious passbands, not moving. Measured results of two fabricated filters centered at 400MHz show good agreement with the theoretical predications.

  • This paper presents a novel design for dual-band bandpass filters. The proposed filters are applicable to the carrier aggregation of the TV white space (TVWS) band and long-term evolution (LTE) band for cognitive radio applications. The lower passband is the TVWS band (470-698 MHz) whose fractional bandwidth is 40 %, while the higher passband is the LTE band (824-894 MHz) with 8 % fractional bandwidth. Since the two passbands are located very close to each other, a transmission zero is inserted to enhance the rejection level between the two passbands. The TVWS band filter is designed using magnetic coupling to obtain a wide bandwidth, and the LTE band filter is designed using dielectric resonators to achieve good insertion loss characteristics. In addition, in the proposed design, a transmission zero is placed with cross-coupling. The proposed dual-band bandpass filter is designed as a two-port filter (one input/one output) as well as a three-port filter (one common input/two outputs). The measured performances show good agreement with the simulated performances.

  • In this paper, two new circuit structures for European and U.S. ultra-wide band(UWB) bandpass filters(BPFs) with sharp roll-off characteristics are introduced. We show first that the ultra-wide bandpass property is obtained from a $\lambda$/4 open T resonator with a capacitively coupled $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line, which provides two attenuation poles at lower and upper cutoff frequencies. Then, two identical capacitively coupled input/output lines, which can be $\lambda$/4-length open ends or $\lambda$/2-length short ends, with the T-resonator, are adopted to suppress lower and higher frequency components outside of the pass band. There is coupling between the input and output lines providing two additional transmission zeros in the lower and upper transition bands of the filter. Since the coupling between the T-resonator with the $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line and the input/output lines limits the bandwidth of the filter to the European UWB band, both the $\lambda$/4 short-circuited line and the input/output lines are inserted between the two stacked T-resonators for the U.S. UWB band. The filter structures are simulated with ADS and HFSS and realized with low-temperature co-fired ceramic(LTCC) green tape which has the dielectric constant of 7.8. Measurement results agree well with HFSS simulation results.

  • In this paper, we design and implement the Combline Bandpass Filters for the satellite transponder by using the least-squares curve-fitting method. The Combline Bandpass Filters are located front of the mixer and behind of it, which is the component of down converter. Comparing with the filters which have $\lambda$/4 resonance length. Combline Filter has wide range of stop-band by using $\lambda$/8. So, it is useful to the satellite transponder owing to its low mass and small size. The filters described are realized as coupled rectangular coaxial transmission lines. The choice of this type is due to the ease of machining and wide variations in coupling coefficients rather than the use of the round rod resonators. We determine 800 MHz bandwidths for the combline bandpass filters. By using Chebyshev filter function, we design and implement 4-pole combline filters.

  • A wide passband filter consisting of 3-stage ssymmetrical coupler can be realized, where the admittance inverter parameters in equivalent circuit of asymmetrical coupled microstrip lines are given as a function of a fundamental design parameter of a bandpass filter. An experimental filter was designed over 22 percend bandwidth centered at 9GHz and optimized using Super-Compact. Measured forward transmission and forward reflection closely matched design data but measured insertion loss was slightly higher (0.7dB) than the designed value.

  • A new design method of microstrip wide band VHF tunable bandpass filters using varacter diodes is presented. In the proposed filter both the input and output ports are coupled through capacitors, and an open micro-strip line is inserted between the coupled line in order to obtain the desired degree of coupling. The optimized filter responseses for the frequency range of 220-404MHz by TOUCH-STONE are compared with the measured ones.

  • A new compact UWB bandpass filter with sharp-rejection, low insertion-loss and flat group-delay is developed In this paper, using the transversal filtering combined with SIR(stepped impedance resonator) concept. To form the required passband, multiple out-of-band transmission zeros are created around band-edges, securing very low insertion loss in the very wide frequency range. Also it is found to be beneficial to realize a sharp rejection of higher order with a relatively small overall size and simultaneously have very smoothly varying group-delay which is proper for the UWB applications. The validity of the proposed technique is proven theoretically and experimentally.
