Voice Source Modeling Using Weighted Sum-of-Basis-Functions Model (기저함수의 가중합을 이용한 음원의 모델링)

  • 본 논문에서는 음성합성(speech synthesis) 및 부호화(coding) 시스템에 있어서 음원(voice source) 모델링에 관한 문제를 살펴보고자 한다. 기존의 음원 모델링 시스템이 가지고 있는 여러 문제들을 극복하고자 기저함수(basis function) 의 가중 합(weighted-sum)으로 음원을 모델링 하는 새로운 기법을 제안하고자 한다. 제안한 방법에서는 음원 파형(voice source waveform)을 적절히 표현하기 위해서 필터뱅크(filter bank)에 기초한 기저함수의 가중 합으로 나타낸다. 다양한 음원 특성을 효과적으로 나타내는 음원 파라미터를 구하기 위하여 EM(estimate maximize)에 기초한 구조에 관해 조사한다. 제안한 방법을 이용하여 다양한 유성음에 대해 실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과 제안한 추정(estimation) 방법 및 모델링 방법을 이용하면 기존의 방법에 비해 더 정확한 음원 파형을 추정할 수 있고, 다양한 음원 특성을 나타낼 수 있다. 또한 음성합성 및 부호화에서도 음성품질(voice quality)를 개선시킬 수 있으리라 기대된다.

Booming Index Development in a Passenger Car (승용차 부우밍 인덱스 개발에 관한 연구)

  • Booming sound is one of the most important interior sound of a passenger car. The conventional booming noise research was focused on the reduction of the A-weighted sound pressure level. However A-weighted sound pressure level can not give the whole story about the booming sound of a passenger car. In this paper, we employed sound metric which is the subjective parameter used in psycoacoustics. According to recent research results, the relation between sound metrics and subjective evaluation is very complex and has nonlinear characteristics. In order to estimate this nonlinear relationship, artificial neural network theory has been applied to derivation of sound quality index for booming sound of a passenger car.

  • In this paper, the fractional Hardy-type operator of variable order ${\beta}(x)$ is shown to be bounded from the Herz-Morrey spaces $M\dot{K}^{{\alpha},{\lambda}}_{p_1,q_1({\cdot})}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ with variable exponent $q_1(x)$ into the weighted space $M\dot{K}^{{\alpha},{\lambda}}_{p_2,q_2({\cdot})}(\mathbb{R}^n,{\omega})$, where ${\omega}=(1+|x|)^{-{\gamma}(x)}$ with some ${\gamma}(x)$ > 0 and $1/q_1(x)-1/q_2(x)={\beta}(x)/n$ when $q_1(x)$ is not necessarily constant at infinity. It is assumed that the exponent $q_1(x)$ satisfies the logarithmic continuity condition both locally and at infinity that 1 < $q_1({\infty}){\leq}q_1(x){\leq}(q_1)+$ < ${\infty}(x{\in}\mathbb{R}^n)$.

Unscented Filtering in a Unit Quaternion Space for Spacecraft Attitude Estimation

  • A new approach to the straightforward implementation of the unscented filter in a unit quaternion space is proposed for spacecraft attitude estimation. Since the unscented filter is formulated in a vector space and the unit quaternions do not belong to a vector space but lie on a nonlinear manifold, the weighted sum of quaternion samples does not produce a unit quaternion estimate. To overcome this difficulty, a method of weighted mean computation for quaternions is derived in rotational space, leading to a quaternion with unit norm. A quaternion multiplication is used for predicted covariance computation and quaternion update, which makes a quaternion in a filter lie in the unit quaternion space. Since the quaternion process noise increases the uncertainty in attitude orientation, modeling it either as the vector part of a quaternion or as a rotation vector is considered. Simulation results illustrate that the proposed approach successfully estimates spacecraft attitude for large initial errors and high tip-off rates, and modeling the quaternion process noise as a rotation vector is more optimal than handling it as the vector part of a quaternion.

A robust center estimation of the circular parts based on the weighted circle chords (가중치가 부가된 현들을 이용한 원형부품 중심위치의 강건한 추정)

  • In this paper, a technique ot estimate center positions of the circular parts under noisy condition is presented. The circle chords are segmented from the circle with successively varying angle and weighted to reduce the center estimation errors effected by the orientations of the circle chords. The weighting factors for variable length chords are adaptively detemined according to the error contribution of each chord in center estimation. Robust estimation of the center positions of the circular parts are possible even though the edge informations are partially contaminated by the non-uniform lighting or the background textures. Computer simulations for several images which are obtained for same object under real environment y camera, show that the proposed techniqeu yields 1.85 and 2.77 of estimated error-distribution for center position and radius in mean square error, that the proposed has more robust estimation than those of the conventional methods.

  • The log-Gumbel distribution in real space is defined by transforming the conventional log-Gumbel distribution in log space. For this model, the parameter estimation techniques are applied based on the methods of moments, maximum likelihood and probability weighted moments. The asymptotic variances of estimator of the quantiles for each estimation method are derived to find the confidence limits for a given return period. Finally, the log-Gumbel model is applied to actual flood data to estimate the parameters, quantiles and confidence limits.

  • In this paper, a direct adaptive pole placement controller for an unknown linear time-invariant single-input single-output nonminimum phase plant is proposed. To design this direct adaptive pole placement controller, the auxiliary signals are introduced. Consequently, a linear equation error model is formulated for estimating both the controller parameters and the additional auxiliary parameters. To estimate the controller parameters and the additional auxiliary parameters, the exponentially weighted least-squares algorithm is implemented, and a method of selecting the characteristic polynomials of the sensitivity function filters is proposed. In this method, all the past measurement data are weighted exponentially. A series of simulations for a nonminimum phase plant is presented to illustrate some features of both the parameter estimation and the output response of this adaptive pole placement controller.

Review of the Current Status of the U-238, NP-237 and Th-232 Fission Cross Sections

  • The experimental fission cross-section data of U-238, Np-237 and Th-232, published up to the end of 1970, are reviewed and analyzed between their respective thresholds and 20.0 MeV. The results of a statistical analysis of the available data, performed with a weighted Least-squares Orthogonal Polynomial Pitting computer programme are presented in the form of point-wise cross-section values together with their uncertainties, and in the form of graphs of the fitted curves with an indication of a region of 95% statistical confidence level. An estimate of the fission spectrum weighted average cross-sections and their respective uncertainties is also given.
