Real-Time Object Recognition for Children Education Applications based on Augmented Reality (증강현실 기반 아동 학습 어플리케이션을 위한 실시간 영상 인식)

  • The aim of the paper is to present an object recognition method toward augmented reality system that utilizes existing education instruments that was designed without any consideration on image processing and recognition. The light reflection, sizes, shapes, and color range of the existing target education instruments are major hurdles to our object recognition. In addition, the real-time performance requirements on embedded devices and user experience constraints for children users are quite challenging issues to be solved for our image processing and object recognition approach. In order to meet these requirements we employed a method cascading light-weight weak classification methods that are complimentary each other to make a resultant complicated and highly accurate object classifier toward practically reasonable precision ratio. We implemented the proposed method and tested the performance by video with more than 11,700 frames of actual playing scenario. The experimental result showed 0.54% miss ratio and 1.35% false hit ratio.

  • Through the optimization design of the pneumatic components it leads the energy efficiency increasement and resources saving. Also it effects on the high speed operation, low speed operation, low weight, and complexity of pneumatic systems. In this paper the development of the software will be described based on Object-Oriented technology, which will provide function for development of pneumatic system without any deep knowledge about pneumatic system.

Optimal Structural Design for Flexible Space Structure with Control System Based on LMI

  • A simultaneous optimal design problem of structural and control systems is discussed by taking a 3-D truss structure as an object. We use descriptor forms for a controlled object and a generalized plant because the structural parameters appear naturally in these forms. We consider a minimum weight design problem for structural system and disturbance suppression problem for the control system. The structural objective function is the structural weight and the control objective function is $H_{\infty}$ norm from the disturbance input to the controlled output in the closed-loop system. The design variables are cross sectional areas of the truss members. The conditions for the existence of controller are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMI) By minimizing the linear sum of the normalized structural objective function and control objective function, it is possible to make optimal design by which the balance of the structural weight and the control performance is taken. We showed in this paper the validity of simultaneous optimal design of structural and control systems.

Multi-mode Kernel Weight-based Object Tracking (멀티모드 커널 가중치 기반 객체 추적)

  • As the needs of real-time visual object tracking are increasing in various kinds of application fields such as surveillance, entertainment, etc., kernel-based mean-shift tracking has received more interests. One of major issues in kernel-based mean-shift tracking is to be robust under partial or full occlusion status. This paper presents a real-time mean-shift tracking which is robust in partial occlusion by applying multi-mode local kernel weight. In the proposed method, a kernel is divided into multiple sub-kernels and each sub-kernel has a kernel weight to be determined according to the location of the sub-kernel. The experimental results show that the proposed method is more stable than the previous methods with multi-mode kernels in partial occlusion circumstance.

  • In this paper we present the system we produced to help workers at logistic centers and prevent accidents, in which they could get hurt. As a base we use the main control device, named Arduino uno, which measures the weight by using load cells. When operating with the system, by placing object on it, the system measures the weight of the object and keeps the highest point at the same height by lowering its board. This improves the convenience while placing and removing objects from the board. If the weight of the placed object is exceeding the set value the board will also lower itself to secure the safety. By using a line tracer system, the objects are being moved only on a set route with the goal to make it even more comfortable to use.

  • The testing tools implemented up to now for the LDAP(Light-weight Directory Access Protocol) interoperability tests are not easy to modify or add new test items since their source codes are not open. The object-oriented approach, therefore, is required to implement such a testing tool which can be easily modified or add new test items. Thus we designed the architecture for the testing tool applying the object-oriented approach. Java language, appropriate for the object-oriented approach, was used to implement the testing tool. The newly implemented testing tool can modify partly to adapt to the already stored data in the test suite information even during tests. Five LDAP servers can be tested simultaneously with the same configuration setup. Actual testing for the two LDAP servers validates the usefulness of the designed architecture with the proper working of the implemented testing tool according to the architecture.

  • Recently, the use of immersive media contents representing Panorama and 360° video is increasing. Since the viewing angle is limited to generate the content through a general camera, image stitching is mainly used to combine images taken with multiple cameras into one image having a wide field of view. However, if the parallax between the cameras is large, parallax distortion may occur in the stitched image, which disturbs the user's content immersion, thus an image stitching overcoming parallax distortion is required. The existing Seam Optimization based image stitching method to overcome parallax distortion uses energy function or object segment information to reflect the location information of objects, but the initial seam generation location, background information, performance of the object detector, and placement of objects may limit application. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an image stitching method that can overcome the limitations of the existing method by adding a weight value set differently according to the type of object to the energy value using object detection based on deep learning.

Object Contour Tracking Using an Improved Snake Algorithm (개선된 스네이크 알고리즘을 이용한 객체 윤곽 추적)

  • The snake algorithm is widely adopted to track objects by extracting the active contour of the object from background. However, it fails to track the target converging to the background if there exists background whose gradient is greater than that of the pixels on the contour. Also, the contour may shrink when the target moves fast and the snake algorithm misses the boundary of the object in its searching window. To alleviate these problems, we propose an improved algorithm that can track object contour more robustly. Firstly, we propose two external energy functions, the edge energy and the contrast energy. One is designed to give more weight to the gradient on the boundary and the other to reflect the contrast difference between the object and background. Secondly, by computing the motion vector of the contour from the difference of the two consecutive frames, we can move the snake pointers of the previous frame near the region where the object boundary is probable at the current frame. Computer experiments show that the proposed method is more robust to the complicated background than the previously known methods and can track the object with fast movement.

  • The linear dynamic response of a simply supported uniform beam under a moving load of constant magnitude is investigated. When the ratio of the moving weight and the structure weight is small, moving object is considered as a concentrated or distributed moving force, that is large external loading can be considered as a concentrated or distributed moving masses. Result from the numerical solutions of the differential equations of motion are shown graphically. Moreover, when considering the maximum deflection for the mid-span of the hewn, the critical speeds of the moving load have been evaluated.

  • Normally, Structural light-weight aggregate concrete(LWC) has been main used in high rise building with the object of wight loss. In spite of LWC have the advantage of light-weight, limit the use of strength restrictions by reason that explosive spalling in fire. Especially, LWC is occurred serious fire performance deterioration by explosive spalling. Thus, this study is concerned with fire performance of LWC for the purpose of using PP fibers prevent to explosive spalling. From the experimental test result, LWC is happened explosive spalling.
