Apoemulsan is a biopolymer with potent emulsification activity, produced by Acinetobacter venetian us RAG-1 (RAG-1). The wee gene cluster is responsible for apoemulsan biosynthesis. The analysis of (i) a putative polysaccharide copolymerase mutant (${\Delta}wzc$), (ii) a putative polymerase mutant (${\Delta}wzy$), and (iii) an apoemulsan-deficient variant (${\Delta}2$) indicated that the wee gene cluster controls the synthesis of two polysaccharides: high molecular weight (HMW) and low molecular weight (LMW). LMW polysaccharide of wee origin was present in LPS isolated from RAG-1 cells, suggesting a link to the Lipid A-core of LPS molecules. SDS-PAGE analysis indicated that apoemulsan is copurified with LPS polysaccharide, with implications in the emulsification activity of RAG-1 polymer.

We present a study of the metallicity of the old open cluster NGC 1245 , based on the Washington CCD photometry obtained using the 0.6 m telescope at the Sobaeksan Observatory, Korea. NGC 1245 has been known to be a unique cluster among the known open clusters in the sense that the previous metallicity estimates for this cluster are much larger $(by\;\sigma)$ than the value expected from the radial metallicity gradient of the old open clusters in Our galaxy. We have estimated the metallicity of the cluster red giants using the four color-color diagrams, obtaining a value for the mean metallicity of $[Fe/H] = -0.04\pm0.05$ dex. The total error including the error of the metallicity calibration, 0.15 dex, is 0.16 dex. The metallicity estimate of NGC 1245 we have obtained in this study is smaller than previous estimates, and is consistent with the radial metallicity gradient of the old open clusters, showing that the mean metallicity of NGC 1245 is not abnormally high. The reddening, distance, and age of the cluster have also been derived using the isochrones based on the convective overshooting models: the reddening $E(B-V) = 0.28\pm0.03$; the distance $d = 2.5\pm0.2 kpc$ (the corresponding galactocentric distance is RGC = 10.7 kpc, and the distance from the galactic plane is z = -0.4 kpc); and the age $t = 1.1\pm0.1 Gyrs$.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of air quality using data from which obtain local air quality monitoring system for cohort study in Chungju, Korea. We analyzed the concentration data of $NO_2,\;SO_2$, and $PM_{10}$ in Chungju and industrial cities in 2006. We compared a industrial area with a cohort study area using by bicluster algorithm. In the case of $SO_2$, the rate of the cluster time was $10{\sim}60%$ and the cluster time number of two areas was similar. In the case of $NO_2$ and $PM_{10}$, the number of cluster time between a industrial area and cohort study area was clearly different.

The aim of this study is to classify the life styles of urban housewives, to see their correlation with demographic and socioeconomic variables, and finally to provide some useful for their ideal home management. This study has been based on a questionnaire on the demographic characteristics of housewives, and their life styles. The selected samples were 650 and 514 of them were analyzed. The data wee analyzed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test and X2-test. As a result of factor and cluster analyses of 64 items th life styles of urban housewives were classified into 5 types; 'conservative stagnant type', 'sound and thrifty type', 'passive stagnant type', realistic and stable type', modern and evolutional type', The life styles of the respondents showed significant differences by the variables of age , family life cycles, the number of family members, the number of children, family type, education, occupation, income, the type of housing, and religion.

단일염기다형성은 인간 게놈 구조 연구의 중요한 도구이다. 대량의 유전자 표현형 데이터에서의 군집 분석은 생물학적으로 연관이 있는 유전자 군을 발견하거나 유전자간 상호작용 네트워크를 생성하는데 유용하다. 본 논문에서는 엔트로피 거리를 기반으로 계층적 군집 분석 방법을 사용하여 천식환자군과 정상대조군의 군집을 형성하고 비교하였고 5개짜리 군집에서 두 군의 의미 있는 차이점이 나타남을 보였다. 천식환자군의 각 군집에서의 대표 SNP들의 조합의 질병 예측 정확도를 지지벡터기계를 이용하여 측정하여, 천식의 두 유형을 진단할 수 있는 최상의 조합을 찾았다. 최상의 조합은 유전자 ALOX12에 있는 단일염기다형성을 포함한 5개로 구성된 모델이며 66.41%의 아스피린 내성 천식 질병에 대한 예측 정확도를 갖는다.

How to teach intelligible, communicative pronunciation is a continuous question in the English education. Without good input, we can not expect good output. However, in EFL situation, it is very difficult to input the good English pronunciation, therefore, we have to find out the efficient and effective material for teaching pronunciation. One of the materials is song, because songs contain the linguistic and cultural traits of the language. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the reason why songs are good for teaching pronunciation. Koreans, who are syllable timed language users, have difficulties in English pronunciation of stress, rhythm, consonants cluster, linking or blending in connected speech. The 134 songs from wee sing are analyzed for how these traits show in songs. The result shows that we can acquire the traits easily and naturally through songs. And a lesson plan is offered as an example for teaching songs.
