With this view, this study was aimed to departmentalize the case of knitwear in modifiable design of clothes and propose the possibility of variable knit fashion through make the most of knit's characteristics. Four wearable physical clothes using the most of flexible knits' characteristics were made for this study based on the modifiable design on the expressive tendency and analysis of plasticity. The following results were obtained. First, as modifiable knit design can create effects of several dresses in visual aspect and functional aspect, so it has practicality and functionality. Because modifiable clothes required wearer's participation, this have amusement that give enjoyment and freshness to wearer. Second, in mode of wearing, flexibility of knit is suitable character to open & close and change of wearing position. In manipulation, a prearranged plan for line of clothes and good choice of subsidiary materials are important. Third, the characteristics of knits allow using and mixing with different pattern and materials on the two sides of the same cloths except for the some of the parts. Moreover, there is no unraveled thread on the part of knits margin against woven, so it has the broad applicable range for the changeable design. Finally, the form and function, a prearranged plan for modifiable design of clothes have all contributed in creating new structure and patterns in design.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the reality of clothes-wearing among physically disabled women and propose trouser designs. As a research method, an in-depth interview method was adopted for 10 women in their 30s and 50s with lower limb disabilities who could wear trousers and use wheelchairs. The study results identified the following factors that should be considered in the design of trousers. First, a semi-casual design that could hide physical deficiencies, was not different from ready-made clothes and enabled various looks was desirable. Second, the proper material would have little transformation in the form, have remarkable durability and laundry fastness, two-directional stretch, and hide deficiencies with a sense of thickness and density. Third, an "L-frame" pattern in a sitting position, and a straight fit were desirable. Finally, pockets can impose pressure according to their form, size, position, and sewing method, highlighted the need for a sewing approach to minimize seams in the fabric. For adjustment, an elastic band would be a good choice in terms of type, length, position, and material as it could satisfy both the convenience of putting on and taking off and comfort in wearing at the same time. Decorative design details can also impose pressure according to a sense of thickness, which means that they should be avoided in parts that are close to the body or can impose pressure according to posture.

  • A questionnaire survey of farmers engaged in actual farming was conducted to investigate the farmers' actual wearing conditions and preferences for agricultural workwear to develop workwear that is suitable for improved agricultural work efficiency. We extracted basic data necessary for the development of agricultural workwear. Analysis of the photographs taken showed differences in the shoes and gloves worn depending on the type of work. The percentages of men and women were equal among the agricultural workers. The age of the agricultural workers was analyzed and the results showed a higher percentage of those over 50 years old, indicating that the age of the agricultural workers was higher than in other industries. It was found that the waist, knees, and elbows of the workers were pulled during work, and analysis showed that the symptoms resulting from clothing pulling were more severe when the wearing dimensions were larger. It was recognized that the important aspects of workwear are those related to work, such as functionality, activity, and work efficiency. In addition to workwear, the most commonly worn auxiliary equipment was gloves, and other items included hats, armbands, work shoes, boots, seat chairs, and masks. When developing rural workwear, it is necessary to consider the fit, type of work, and materials of the workwear. Future research should focus on materials that can improve the functionality of workwear and pattern development that reflects physical and movement characteristics.

  • Purpose: The present study was conducted to investigate the actual condition of circle lens wear and the differences caused by the pigmentation in blinking rate, non-invasive tear break-up time (NIBUT), and lens surface between circle and soft contact lens wear during clinical application. Methods: Eighty subjects were surveyed to know the actual condition of wearing circle lens. Blink rate, NIBUT of 20 subjects in twenties were measured after separately wearing soft contact lens and circle lens for 5 days. Their lens surfaces were also observed by scanning electron microscope. Results: Fifty percent of circle lens wearers answered that major reason for changing circle lens was discomfort and 67% of answerers wore circle lens more than 6 hours a day. The tendency of increased blink rates in both wearers of circle and soft contact lens at 30 minutes later when tear film stabilized and 3 hour after lens wearing was shown on the 1st, 3rd and 5th day with expanding wearing time. Especially at 3 hours after lens wearing on the 3rd and 5th day, the difference of blink rates was statistically different in circle lens wear and soft contact lens wear. The NIBUTs of soft contact lens wearers and circle lens wearers were 6.0 and 3.7 secs, respectively, at 30 min later on 1st day and were significantly different. NIBUTs of soft contact lens wearers and circle lens wearers were also statistically different 3 hrs after lens wearing on the 1st day and the similar pattern of NIBUTs was shown on the 3rd and 5th day. The roughness of both surfaces in soft contact lens and front surface in circle lens was same. However, pigmented front surface of circle lens was rougher and uneven. Conclusions: As the results, the circle lens wearers might feel discomfort in clinical application since the difference in lens surface of circle lens would change lens wettability during wearing. The difference by tinting contact lens was shown from the result, which could help better wearing circle lens.
