  • The study on plane composition in clothing was focused mainly on woven wear earlier but its application has been reaching the knit wear. This study is confined to the utilization with geometrical linear pattern in the modern apparel. The work here intends to grasp the plane structure found in both woven wear and knit wear and, in particular, to understand the aesthetics of fashion. The modern flat patterned clothing has been affected by the oriental style or postmodernism in view of social and cultural aspect while its fabric material and expression method shows the diversity in terms of industrial and technical aspect. It can be characterized as several outstanding patterns: the geometrical pattern in structure, the linear pattern with seam line and 2-dimensional plane pattern without seam line, and the flexible silhouette integrated into one single shape with human body unlike the traditional apparel The aesthetics of fashion in modern flat patterned clothing can be divided into such category as the organically spatial change, the re-creation of tradition and the non-format framework. The organically spatial change shows the geometrical formation in clothes due to change in dimension, where the organically changing uniformity and generosity appears as the dimension progresses. The timeless without any difference of up and down, left and right, and inside and outside and the discontinuity due to limitless spatial change are also imbedded. The re-creation of tradition tells the reshaped spirits of old tradition by integrating and modifying the hereditary features in the old customed clothing into modern clothing. The modern flat patterned clothing implies the contemporaneousness or the frame through which the old and modern cultures may be shared and indicates the re-creation of the past and uniformity. The non-format framework contains the uncertainty in meaning and it doesn't have any certain standards. As both the apparel and the human body with this style aim at the open space, the numerous contingencies are realized.

  • Nowadays, geometrical form expressed on costume is recognizing as a part of modeling art, at the same time is working to develop it. Also the geometrical form is affording the coinciding lifestyle and sensitivity of customers keeping their pace. As a result, our study is researching on the geometrical form that is used in the pattern, silhouette, and detail of the costume to show the texture in sense of touch and the effect of optical illusion used in variable designs, in order to present the expansion our capability of infinite development included in the study of costume. Specially, geometrical form included in sports wear is very effective since the geometrical form includes short and simple beauty as well as practical design. Thus, this study is wishing to know if satisfying the practical and psychological urge of present human beings may be applied to the golf wear market, which is a type of sport that geometrical form is sent in the fastest way in domestic market. Also we are urged to know what type of design technique is the geometrical form nowadays used and changed to discriminate the artificial commerce and improve the identity of such unique brand. The source of this thesis is wishing to investigate the specialization and the most effective geometrical shape and preference of each type in domestic golf wear goods that applied geometrical goods in $2002{\sim}2006$ and analyze its way of expression.

  • In this paper, we consider a periodic preventive maintenance(PM) policy in which each PM reduces the hazard rate of amount proportional to the failure intensity, which increases since the last PM and slows down the wear-out speed to that of new one. And the proportion of reduction in hazard rate decreases with the number of PMs. Our model is similar to $ARI_1$ proposed by Doyen and Gaudoin(2004) in the sense of reduction of hazard rate. Our model has totally different wear-out pattern of hazard rate after PM's, however, and the proportion of reduction depends on the number of PM's. Assuming that the system undergoes only minimal repairs at failures between PM's, the expected cost rate per unit time is obtained. The optimal number N of PM and the optimal period x, which minimize the expected cost rate per unit time are discussed. Explicit solutions for the optimal periodic PM are given for the Weibull distribution case.

  • This study collected the basic data required to develop a slim-fit jeans pattern for upper grade elementary school girls. First, a fit evaluation was made by selecting five slim-fit jeans of ready-to-wear brands. Subjects were four girls aged 11-12 with an average body size that evaluated the appearance and motion functionality of five brands of jeans. Five experts also evaluated their appearance. Second, pattern sizes were analyzed and compared with the average size of upper grade elementary school girls by measuring the pattern sizes of five brands jeans. As a result, Brand A received a high score in appearance and motion functionality. Brand E scored high with Brand A in appearance, while Brand E had the lowest score in motion functionality. For most of the five brand jeans, (+) ease was added to include a wide range of body sizes for upper grade elementary school girls, but the hip circumference, thigh circumference, and knee circumference of Brand E jeans were smaller than the average size of girls. The (-) ease was applied to make the figure look slim, which resulted in a high appearance score. However, since Brand E received a low score in the motion functionality, it could be seen that the (-) ease was not suitable for subjects although the material was stretchable. The result of this study will be used to develop a slim-fit jeans pattern suitable for upper grade elementary school girls.

  • The wear debris is fall off the moving surfaces in oil-lubricated systems and its morphology is directly related to the damage and failure to the interacting surfaces. The morphology of the wear particles are therefore directly indicative of wear processes occurring in tribological system. The computer image processing and artificial neural network was applied to shape study and identify wear debris generated from the lubricated moving system. In order to describe the characteristics of various wear particles, four representative parameter (50% volumetric diameter, aspect, roundness and reflectivity) from computer image analysis for groups of randomly sampled wear particles, are used as inputs to the network and learned the friction condition of five values (material 3, applied load 1, sliding distance 1). It is shown that identification results depend on the ranges of these shape parameters learned. The three kinds of the wear debris had a different pattern characteristics and recognized the friction condition and materials very well by neural network. We discuss how these approach can be applied to condition diagnosis of the oil-lubricated tribological system.

  • This study was performed to investigate the factors related to tooth wear. For this study, 78 patients with temporomandibular disorders and 76 dental students without any signs and symptoms of temporomandibular disorders were selected as the patients group and as the normal group, respectively. Preferred chewing side, Angle's classification, lateral guidance pattern, head and shoulder posture were observed clinically. Electromyographic activity of anterior temporalis and masseter muscle were recorded with $BioEMG^{(R)}$ and occlusal status were recorded with $T-Scan^{(R)}$. Wear facet area of each tooth was measured from working model of upper arch corresponding to the occlusal status from T-Scan. Wear facet area were measured with planimeter in $mm^2$. Total area were divided into incisal, canine, posterior tooth area. Anterior wearfacet area was incisor area plus canine area, and unilateral area was anterior area plus posterior area. The data collected were analyzed by SAS statistical program and the results of this study were as follows: 1. There was no significant difference between the two groups in total werafacet area, and male subjects showed tendency to have larger area in the normal group but female subjects showed tendency vice versa. 2. There was no significant difference related to preferred chewing side and Angle's classification, however some difference was observed by lateral guidance pattern. Anterior wear facet area in subjects of canine guidance was the largest in the three subgroups. 3. Subjects with head tilting to right side had larger posterior and total area, and subjects with higher shoulder in right side had larger canine and anterior area than any other subgrous. 4. Electromyographic activity of masseter muscle was more correlated with wear facet area than anterior temporalis muscle, and tooth contact number and force were significantly correlated with wear facet area, but the most important factor affecting tooth attrition was age.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an aesthetic and functional bicycle wear for new senior women in their 50s and 60s. Based on the results of the survey, we developed bicycle wear that is friendly to bicycling posture and reflects the preference of new senior women. The results are as followed: First, emphasis is placed on the simple and functional design of the experimental wear consisting of jacket and pants. Jacket is different from the color scheme with the armhole princess line in order for the waistline to look slim. Pants are designed to hold the leg muscles tightly in order to help reduce the muscle fatigue on the bicycle ride. Second, cutting lines and coloring materials are used for the wearer to look slim and the safety of the wearer is planned to secure by inserting the reflective material along the cutting lines on the bicycle ride. Third, the pattern of the experimental wear is designed in consideration of the riding motion of the bicycle. Jacket is designed to have back length longer than front length as compared to the bicycle wears available on the market. Sewing lines in the armpit are designed to be eliminated in order to move the arms smoothly on the ride. Pants are designed to minimize the seam line in consideration of the movement of muscles and ligaments and the experimental wear is produced by combining the material with the functions of cool comfort and stretch.
