The Comparision of X-ray Detection Characteristics as Additive ratio of As in a-Se of $BrO_2/a-Se$ Film ($BrO_2/a-Se$ 필름의 a-Se에 첨가된 As 변화에 따른 X선 검출특성 비교)

  • In this papaer, there is a basic research for the development of the Hybrid digital radiation detector with a new system, make up for existing digital radiation detector of direct/indirect method with a weak point. for enhance the efficiency characteristics of signal response from X-ray detector using the a-Se, We make sample with various kinds of layer, through the ratio of As(0.l%,0.3%,0.5%,1%,1.5%,5%,10%). We measure net charge with a leakage current and photo current for electric charateristics. Ratio of As in a-Se consist of 7 stage, It made of using the thermal deposition system, In the made of samples, we made multi layer using the EFIRON optical adhesives from phosphor layer consist of Oxybromide$(BrO_2)$. As a result of X-ray measurement, the best result is ; leakage current(0.30nA/cm2), net charge(610.13pC/cm2/mR) when the condition is voltage(9V/um), 0.3% ratio of As in multi layer(BrO2 + a-Se)

Cross-Correlation Analysis between GOSAT and CO2 Concentration Observed by the KGAWC Station (GOSAT과 안면도 지상 관측소에서 측정된 이산화탄소의 상관성 분석)

  • GOSAT satellite $CO_2$ signal in years (June, 2009-December 2012) were compared with ground-based measurement at Anmyeon-do Korea Global Atmosphere Watch Center (KGAWC), located on the west coast of the Korean Peninsula. The result reveals that GOSAT signature is closely associated with ground-based measurement($R^2=0.49$). Strong correlation occurred between summer and fall ($R^2=0.62$) while weak relationship between satellite and ground-based measurement were identified in winter and spring ($R^2=0.37$). Average $CO_2$ concentration of GOSAT were 6.31 ppm lower than the corresponding values obtained from ground-based measurements on the same date. It is anticipated that this research output could be used as a valuable reference in introducing GOSAT to confirm data quality assurance for area-wide carbon monitoring process in relation to Anmyeon-do KGAWC $CO_2$ Concentration data.

  • Many indoor location tracking technologies have been proposed. Generally indoor location tracking using TOA signal is used, there is a weak point that it's difficult to track the location due to obstacles like a refraction, reflection and dispersion of radio wave. In this paper, we apply ETOA(Estimated-TOA) algorithm in NLOS(Non-Line-Of-Sight) environment to solve above problem. In NLOS environment, TOA value between Beacon and Mobile node is predicted by ETOA algorithm and the tracking of indoor location is also possible to identify using two NLOS beacons of three beacons by this algorithm. We show that the proposed algorithm is accurate location tracking is accomplished using the applying the proposed algorithm to indoor moving robot and the inertia sensor of robot and Kalman filter algorithm.

  • It is necessary to manage risk of metals which are has rigid supply structures and expected demand expansion, considering to industry structure and resource securing capacity of each country. Countries conducted various criticality analyses and selected mainly rare metals as critical materials(or Critical metals or Critical raw materials). This study examined cases of metals risk evaluation and management which are based on technology changes and imbalance supply-demand. EU and U.S.A evaluated risk on metals needed as supply expansion of renewable energy. Japan forecasted demand of rare metals needed in Japan's growth engine industry. U.K analyzed criticality of metals, considering environmental burden occurred from mining to refining. Critical materials has features such as weak price signal, inelastic supply structure, demand volatility in technology change.

  • Radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting technology have become a reliable and promising alternative to extend the lifetime of power-constrained wireless networks by eliminating the need for batteries. This emerging technology enables the low-power wireless devices to be self-sustaining and eco-friendly by scavenging RF energy from ambient environment or dedicated energy sources. These attributes make RF energy harvesting technology feasible and attractive to an extended range of applications. However, despite being the most reliable energy harvesting technology, there are several challenges (especially power conversion efficiency, output DC voltage and sensitivity) poised for the implementation of RF energy harvesting systems. In this article, a detailed literature on RF energy harvesting technology has been surveyed to provide guidance for RF energy harvesters design. Since signal strength of the received RF power is limited and weak, high efficiency state-of-the-art RF energy harvesters are required to design for providing sufficient DC supply voltage to wireless networks. Therefore, various designs and their trade-offs with comprehensive analysis for RF energy harvesters have been discussed. This paper can serve as a good reference for the researchers to catch new research topics in the field of RF energy harvesting.

A Robust Acoustic Echo Canceler with Stepsize Predictor for Environment Noise (주변 노이즈에 강건한 Stepsize 예측기를 갖는 음향 반향 제거기)

  • Conventional acoustic echo cancelers using ES(Exponentially weighted Stepsize) algorithm have simple operational configuration and fast convergence speed batter then NLMS algorithm, but they are very weak in external noise because ES algorithm updates filter taps using an average energy reduction rate of room impulse response in specific acoustical condition. So, a new configuration of acoustic echo canceler with stepsize generator and selector is proposed in this thesis. The proposed stepsize generator and selector improve conventional acoustic echo canceler's weakness in external noise and improve the system robustness. The stepsize generator generates additional stepsize value using moving averager, which is the residual noise energy of error signal multiplied by constant ${\gamma}$. The stepsize selector selects the stepsize value that has better performance in an acoustic echo canceler using a coefficient decision factor ${\Delta}_{differ}$ The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm reduces residual error by 5[dB] to 10[dB], improves misadjustment regardless of external noise's SNR. 

Design of Digital Calibration Circuit of Silicon Pressure Sensors (실리콘 압력 센서의 디지털 보정 회로의 설계)

  • We designed a silicon pressure sensor interface circuit with digital calibration capability. The interface circuit is composed of an analog section and a digital section. The analog section amplifies the weak signal from the sensor and the digital section handles the calibration function and communication function between the chip and outside microcontroller that controls the calibration. The digital section is composed of I2C serial interface, memory, trimming register and controller. The I2C serial interface is optimized to suit the need of on-chip silicon microsensor in terms of number of IO pins and silicon area. The major part of the design is to build a controller circuit that implements the optimized I2C protocol. The designed chip was fabricated through IDEC's MPW. We also made a test board and the test result showed that the chip performs the digital calibration function very well as expected.

  • Five kinds of modified electrode arrays were proposed to overcome the weak points of the commonly used arrays using dipole and/or pole in two-dimensional resistivity surveys. The modified pole-pole array was suggested to overcome the inefficiency caused by distant earthing in pole-pole array. Four kinds of modified arrays using dipole were designed to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio of the conventional dipole-dipole and pole-dipole arrays through boosting up the measured potential difference. In the numerical experiments using the two-dimensional modeling and inversion, the effects of the ambient electrical noise and the resolving power were examined and the results showed the validity of the modified arrays proposed in this study.

  • Airborne transient electromagnetic (ATEM) surveying was introduced several decades ago in the mining industry to detect shallow conductive targets. However, conventional ATEM systems have limited depth of investigation because of weak signal strength. Recently, the grounded electrical source airborne transient electromagnetic (GREATEM) system was proposed to increase the depth of investigation. The GREATEM is a semi-airborne transient electromagnetic system because a long grounded wire is used as the transmitter. Traditionally, ATEM sounding data have been interpreted with 1D earth models to save the computing time because modern ATEM systems generally collect large data sets. However, the GREATEM 1D modeling requires numerical integration along the wire, so it takes much more time than the 1D modeling of conventional ATEM. In this study, the adaptive Born forward mapping (ABFM) was applied to the ATEM 1D modeling because the ABFM is incommensurably faster than the ordinary GREATEM 1D modeling. Comparing the results from ordinary and ABFM 1D modeling, it was confirmed that the ABFM can be applied to the 1D modeling of GEATEM.

Jamming Effect of Stand-Off Jammer to Main Lobe of LPI Radar (LPI 레이더에 대한 원격지원 재머의 주엽 재밍 효과)

  • This paper describes the jamming characteristics of a stand-off jammer jamming the LPI radar. The LPI radar reduces the side lobes of the receiving antenna to reduce the effect of jamming. It is easy a radar to predict the effect of jamming on a self-protection jammer where the jammer is in the same position as the target. However, for stand-off jammer jamming at different locations from the target, the prediction of jamming effect is complex. In this paper, the jamming effect of LPI radar is analyzed using signal to jamming ratio and burn-through range. Also, when the antenna's side lobe decreases below -30 dB, the stand-off jamming effect in the side lobe direction is weak. So we proposed a new jamming method for the main lobe and analyzed the jamming effect. This study is expected to be useful for the design and operation of aircraft jammers.
