Detecting Doors Edges in Diverse Environments for Visually Disabled People

  • It is a challenge for visually impaired people to access unfamiliar environments independently, hence the quality of life is reduced, and safety of life is compromised. An accurate and reliable door detection system comprising of way finding and indoor navigation can be beneficial for a large number of autonomous and mobile applications for visually impaired people. This paper illustrates an image-based door detection scheme for visually impaired people using stable features (edges and corners) including color averaging and image resizing. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme shows a significant improvement when compared with existing scheme.

  • In this paper, we investigate a hybrid algorithm for finding zeros of the sum of maximal monotone operators and Lipschitz continuous monotone operators which is also a common fixed point problem for finite family of relatively quasi-nonexpansive mappings and split feasibility problem in uniformly convex real Banach spaces which are also uniformly smooth. The iterative algorithm employed in this paper is design in such a way that it does not require prior knowledge of operator norm. We prove a strong convergence result for approximating the solutions of the aforementioned problems and give applications of our main result to minimization problem and convexly constrained linear inverse problem.

Do We Always Hope to Become "Better" When We Experience Envy? Effects of Incidental Envy and Social Context on Self-Improvement Behavior

  • Incidental envy is known to motivate self-improvement behavior. This phenomenon occurs in part because feelings of inferiority guide subsequent behavior in a way to self-improve, after experiencing envy. However, no research has yet examined whether this tendency may be affected by social context: private versus public. Although extant literature suggests that envy generally leads to self-improvement, we demonstrate that this effect may be mitigated under public social contexts. Across two studies, we find that although incidental envy generally increases self-improvement behavior (e.g., effort exertion and charitable giving) in private social contexts, this tendency is attenuated under public social contexts. We conclude with a discussion of theoretical and practical implications of this finding.

고장력 마찰접합 볼트세트의 품질특성에 관한 연구 (Quality characteristics and the process control of high-strength frictional bolt-sets)

  • Quality assurance in the process of manufacturing high strengh bolt sets used in the frictional joints of structures in one of important concern to users as well as to manufactures. In case of occurrences of either defective or low-quality products, even if they are quite rare, some systematic means of localizing the cause-characteristics and matching to corresponding production process is necessary. Control chart of torque factor is the primary indicatir in finding defectiveness of the products. Use of correlation diagrams ofnhardness of the bolt set presents in part a way of screening the cause. Retest data of the bolt set provide additional ideas of localizing the cause, for which theoretical background is presented in this regard. A process-characteristics matrix relating the causes of low quality to the corresponding process of manufacturing, which is of prime importance for the feedback control of production, is also proposed. Finally general features of control to assure quality of the set is described.

액적 충돌 현상기반 최적알고리즘의 비교 (Meta-Heuristic Algorithm Comparison for Droplet Impingements)

  • Droplet impingement on solid surfaces is pivotal for a range of spray and heat transfer processes. This study aims to optimize the cooling performance of single droplet impingement on heated textured surfaces. We focused on maximizing the cooling effectiveness or the total contact area at the droplet maximum spread. For efficient estimation of the optimal values of the unknown variables, we introduced an enhanced Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO). These novel algorithms incorporate its developed theoretical backgrounds to compare proper optimized results. The comparison, considering the peak values of objective functions, computation durations, and the count of penalty particles, confirmed that PSO method offers swifter and more efficient searches, compared to GA algorithm, contributing finding the effective way for the spray and droplet impingement process.

A Parallel Algorithm for Finding Routes in Cities with Diagonal Streets

  • The subject of navigation has drawn a large interest in the last few years. The navigation within a city is to find the path between two points, source location and destination location. In many cities, solving the routing problem is very essential as to find the route between different locations (starting location (source) and an ending location (destination)) in a fast and efficient way. This paper considers streets with diagonal streets. Such streets pose a problem in determining the directions of the route to be followed. The paper presents a solution for the path planning using the reconfigurable mesh (R-Mesh). R-Mesh is a parallel platform that has very fast solutions to many problems and can be deployed in moving vehicles and moving robots. This paper presents a solution that is very fast in computing the routes.

공간의 개념과 구궁의 공간모델화에 대한 연구 (Study on the Concept of Space and Modeled Space of the Jiu-Gong)

  • All creatures are living in the space and time. As the space and time are prior to experience, they are preconditions for an incident to happen and preconditions for each other to coexist as well. Therefore, time can be recognized through the change of space and the space can be understood by the passage of time. In western philosophy, the space was understood as an object, place, interval, mind and etc. In oriental philosophy, even though one space is just a part of bigger space, the space may represent the universal space, and the various spaces are no more than a space. The space itself doesn't have any color, form, beginning and end, or liu-he(六合). However, it is the biggest concept that we can find everywhere. In order to understand the space, we need to find our position by expressing subjective positions like above and below, left and right, before and after, and objective positions like high and low, east and west, south and north. In oriental philosophy, the sun is the standard point in finding position; its front side is south, the backside is north, the left side is east, the right side is west, the upper side is south and the lower side north. Based on the finding position which is stated above and by taking each characteristics of he-luo-xi-wen(河洛羲文) and interrelations among them, the space can be modeled. Followings are the results obtained from this study: Tian doesn't fill in west and north. Di doesn't fill in east and south. Tian-dao(天道) turns to left, and Di-dao(地道) turns to right. There is no direct way to get to Dui-chong-fang without passing by Zhong-gong(中宮). The solid figure of eighty-one Bian-ju(變局) and sixty-four Gua-tu(卦圖).

척추측만증 검진을 위한 모아레 체형측정법과 설문조사의 상관성 연구 (Clinical Study on the Correlation between 3-Dimensional MOIRE Topography and Questionnaire for School Screening in Scoliosis)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is researching for correlation between Moire topography results and questionnaire which include obesity rate, height, weight, posture, pain aspect (low back pain, headache, fatigue, neck pain etc), studying posture, school attendance method, menarche. Methods : The authors practiced Moire topography and questionnaire for primary & middle school 24,419 students [male 12,843, female 11,576] in Jeonbuk, korea in 2002. After we distinguished students who had abnormal finding in Moire topography and statistically analysed the data. Results : According to this research, the abnormal finding in Moire topography results was 37.3% (9,105 students), and students needed X-ray re-examination were 3.9% (953 students). According to statistical analysis, male/female and primary/middle school students have no difference in deformity degree of the body surface examined by Moire. Height and weight have low correlation with deformity degree of the body surface examined by Moire and menarche, pain aspect have no correlation. But, school attendance method by bicycle and $90^{\circ}$upright sitting in study posture is the best way to decrease the deformity degree of the body surface examined by Moire. Conclusions : Following this research, throughout Moire topography could detect trunk asymmetry that couldn't be found existing X-ray examination, and school attendance by bicycle and $90^{\circ}$upright sitting in study posture is good for school students to prevent back deformity.

재래시장의 상품구성이 재래시장 활성화에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Merchandise Composition on the Competitiveness for the Korean Open Air Market)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 유통산업환경의 경쟁이 날로 심화되고 있는 가운데 그간 대표적인 소매유통공간이면서도 1996년 유통시장개방 이후 급속하게 경쟁력이 약화되고 매출이 감소하고 있는 재래시장을 대상으로 재래시장의 활성화에 미치는 영향을 파악하여 차별화된 마케팅 전략을 제공하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 재래시장의 유형별로 활성화 수준을 결정하는 요인들을 파악하기 위해 결합회귀모델(Mixture Regression Model) 방법을 이용 하였다. 이 분석 모델은 재래시장의 업종비율을 예측변수로, 종속변수는 재래시장 유동고객 수로 설정하였다. 연구결과, 활성화 근린시장의 경우 축산물과 가정용품의 비중이 유동고객 수에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 중소시장의 경우는 축산물과 가공식품의 비중이 상대적으로 유동고객 수의 증가에 중요한 역할을 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 학문적인 면에서 본 연구는 결합회귀모델 분석을 적용함으로써 기존의 방법론으로는 분석에 어려움이 있었던 세분 집단의 수의 결정, 모수 추정 등에 대해 보다 객관적인 자료를 제공함으로써 재래시장 활성화에 대한 보다 정확한 예측에 기여할 것으로 기대 한다.

  • 협업과정에 있어서, 협업의 대상으로 공간 안에 기 분포되어 있는 컴퓨팅 개체들을 사용하는 경우, 협업에 필요한 업무를 올바르게 수행할 수 있는 컴퓨팅 개체를 선택하여 협업에 임하는 것은 성공적인 협업 결과를 보장하기 위한 기본 조건이 된다. 협업 과정에서 수행해야 하는 작업을 그 협업에서의 역할이라고 할 때, 이 역할을 잘 수행할 수 있는 컴퓨팅 개체를 선택하기 위해서는 역할 수행에 필요한 기능의 소유, 협업 작업에 대한 충성도, 협업에 참여하고 있는 다른 개체들과의 연결성 등을 고려해서, 성공적인 협업 완료를 위해 현 상황에서 가장 적합한 개체를 선정할 수 있어야 한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 협업에 참여시킬 컴퓨팅 개체를 선택하기 위해, 개체의 속성 분석을 통해 적합도를 결정하고, 속성에 따른 가중치를 역할 할당의 상황에 따라 동적으로 변화시킴으로써, 최적의 협업 대상을 선택할 수 있는 역할 할당 방법을 제안한다.
