A Study on the design waxup technique for maxillary molar occlusion (상악구치 교합면의 design 조각법에 관한 연구)

  • The first function of occlusion is mastication. Therefore the functional restoration of occlusal surface is very important. The restoration of occlusal surface is three method as wax bite technique, F.G.P. technique, cone technique. Many dental technician is using compound method. I have knew common point on each teeth during I have waxing up wax pattern. So I studied on the design waxup technique for maxillary molar occlusion. The results of the study were as follows ; 1. The dam wax up method can restore axial contour of teeth very easy and make short working time of wax pattern. 2. The height of dam must be same with cusp of adjacent teeth. 3. Automatically the contour of tooth is appeared if the contour of dam is relationship with cuspid line of adjacent teeth. 4. The height of contour of buccal, lingual surface is formed natural curve to add fluid wax by gravitation. 5. The development groove of Maxillary premolar is appeared V form. 6. The development groove of Maxillary molar is appeared W form. 7. The embrasure is formed to carve around contact point area as round convex. It affects to axial form of tooth. 8. I was knew that the lingual groove and stuart's groove of molar runs parallel with oblique ridge. 9. The buccal groove of molar is formed parallel with direction of teeth arrangement.

STUDIES ON THE DISTORTION OF SOME DENTAL WAXES (치과용 왁스의 변형측정에 관한 연구)

  • The object of this study was to measure of the distortion of various dental waxes under condition simulating clinical usage. Eleven commercial product (table) including the inlay and baseplate waxes were tested, and compared in the study. Test specimens were prepared $5{\times}5{\times}65mm$. split brass mold. Placed this rod wax specimens and the brass wax distortion test mold into the water bath and tested the distortion values for waxes at $35^{\circ}C,\;40^{\cric}C,\;45^{\circ}C\;and\;50^{\circ}C$. Measured the distortion as the difference between the final (Df) and original (Do) distance between the ends of the specimen. Recorded Df, Do and Df-Do (Distortion) to the nearest 0.5mm. A minimum of five specimens were tested for each material. The following conclusions may be drawn from this study. 1) It can be seen that, a significant wax distortion was obtained with the temperature of forming the pattern, and the length of time and the temperature at which it was stored. 2) It was found that, when the storage time was increased, the wax distortion was correspondingly increased. At the sametime, the higher the storage time was employed, the distortion was obviously much greater. 3) It can be observed that the higher the temperature at which the wax was manipulated, the less was the resulting distortion upon storage.

Characterization of Soluble Dietary Fibers from Wax Gourd (Benincasa hispida) Pulp and Peel

  • The physicochemical and in vitro physiological properties of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) from wax gourd (Benincasa hispida) pulp and peel were investigated. The pulp was composed of 11.4% SDF and 24.3% insoluble dietary fiber (IDF), while the peel contained 3.2% SDF and 43.3% IDE The predominant sugar in the SDF of the wax gourd pulp and peel was uronic acid, followed by galactose and rhamnose. The SDFs from the wax gourd pulp and peel gave similar elution patterns, with 4 main neutral sugar and uronic acid peaks eluted by 0.4, 0.5, 1, and 2 M ammonium acetate buffer. The pulp SDF had a much higher glucose retardation index (GRI) than the peel SDF for all measurement times. The pulp SDF showed strong growth-inhibiting activity against Escherichia coli and Clostridium perfringens, whereas the peel SDF produced strong growth-promoting activity against Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium infantis, and Lactobacillus brevis when compared to glucose.

A Study on the Dimensional Changes through the Curing Method of Denture (의치의 중합방법에 따른 변화에 대한 연구)

  • This experimental study presented the study on the dimensional changes of occuring for the denture curing methods. The method is as follows: 1. The master die was made of wax. 2. The Silicon Rubber Mold was made into the same 80 casts. 3. The 80 Wax Plate were made of using the Base Plate Wax. 4. Flasking, Wax-wash, & Resin-packing were performed by the general procedures. 5. The curing method is performed through the four curing methods. (A, B, C, D). Table 2 shows the dimensional change after a day. Table 3 shows the dimensional change after soaking for 30 days in water of the degree of 36 Centigrade. As a result, the A curing method is the most denture curing.

  • Ultrasonic machining (USM) does not involve heating or any electrochemical effects, and subsequently causes low surface damage, has small residual stress, and does not rely on the conductivity of the workpiece. These characteristics are suitable for the machining of brittle materials, such as glass or ceramics. However, USM for brittle materials generates cracks on the workpiece while machining, especially at the hole exit with a small diameter. In this study, wax coating was used to deposit wax on the back side of the workpiece to decrease the occurrence of cracks at the exit holes in USM, and it was finally removed with a cleaning process. The experimental results show that this technique is beneficial for restricting the occurrence of cracks in glass or ceramics.

  • Rapid Prototyping is a prototyping technology that produces complicated parts directly form three dimensional CAD data with high efficiency, and has been extensively applied to various manufacturing processes. The aim of this research is to apply a 3D printer part as wax pattern in the investment casting process. The difference between conventional pattern wax and 3D printer wax is compared by experiments. The direct casting method is developed for ceramic-shell investment casting.

  • SL(Stereolithography) part is made by piling up thin layers which causes the stair stepping effect at the surface of SL parts. This effect brings about excessive surface roughness and requires additional post-process finishing such as abrasive techniques that are detrimental to part geometry and time consuming. Hence a wax coating and grinding post-process is proposed to improve the surface quality of SL part. The wax that has suitable properties for the proposed post-process is coated all over the part surface. By grinding the thin layer of coated on the SL part only, the surface roughness can be improved without any damage on the part. From the experimental results, This approach is considered to be very practical fur die casting with RT(Rapid Tooling) techniques.

  • This experimental study was performed to investigate the effect of the wax extension method of posterior palatal seal area, introduced by Vig, on the amount of the vertical occlusal change of processed dentures. Twenty samples of maxillary wax trial dentures were constructed. Among them, the posterior palatall seal of ten samples were extended with wax over the posterior wall of the cast while that of the other ten were not. Then all were processed with self-curing resin and the amount of the vertical occlusal change was compared. The obtained result was that this method was proved to be effective in reducing the amount of the vertical occlusal change occuring in denure proccsing.

  • In metal casting process, it is very difficult to predict the form accuracy of cast part and reduce repeatability error. In this study, the variations of form accuracy were measured in the process of metal cast prototyping, where RP part is manufactured from CAD model in the first, and then, wax part is cast in the vacuum environment using the RP part as master model, and finally metal prototype is cast using ceramic mold and the wax part as pattern. To investigate the variations of form accuracy, the averages and standard deviations of error distribution of the parts measured by 3D scanner were compared. It was observed that the biggest shrinkage is generated during the extraction of wax part in the second step and the biggest deterioration of form accuracy is generated during the metal part casting in the last step.

  • This study was aimed at obtaining a desirable wax pattern for inlay. The method used was to analyze, mix, and heat several kinds of waxes, comparing the temperatures of their components. The result was Type C wax. In type C the amount of paraffin was generally contained(60$\sim$70%) was reduced to 45% and there was mixed 10%-15% of carnauba, which was intended for the wax not to soften readily at low temperatures. The type C has some advantages for general use: handy preparation, high safety, and economy. The inlay waxes commonly used contracted if the temperature fell from 38 to 28, but the contraction of type C was observed to be 0.2%$\sim$0.4% in proportion to the 10 fall. This was more characteristic in mixing.
