Enhancing the Reconstruction of Acoustic Source Field Using Wavelet Transformation

  • This paper shows the use of wavelet transformation combined with inverse acoustics to reconstruct the surface velocity of a noise source. This approach uses the boundary element analysis based on the measured sound pressure at a set of field points, the Helmholtz integral equations and wavelet transformation for reconstructing the normal surface velocity field. The reconstructed field can be diverged due to the small measurement errors in the case of nearfield acoustic holography (NAH) using an inverse boundary element method. In order to avoid this instability in the inverse problem, the reconstruction process should include some form of regularization for enhancing the resolution of source images. The usual method of regularization has been the truncation of wave vectors associated with small singular values, although the order of an optimal truncation is difficult to determine. In this paper, a wavelet transformation is applied to reduce the computation time for inverse acoustics and to enhance the reconstructed vibration field. The computational speed-up is achieved, with solution time being reduced to $14.5\%$.

Scalable Interframe Wavelet Coding with Low Complex Spatial Wavelet Transform

  • In the decoding process associated with interframe wavelet coding, the inverse wavelet transform requires high computational complexity. However, as video technology starts to pervade all aspects of our lives, decoders are becoming required in various devices such as PDAs, notebooks, PCs, and set-top boxes. Therefore, a decoder's complexity needs to be adapted to the processor's computational power, and consequently a low-complexity codec is also required for scalable video coding. In this paper, we propose a method of controlling and lowering the complexity of the spatial wavelet transform while sustaining the same coding efficiency as that currently afforded. In addition, the proposed method may alleviate the ringing effect for slowly changing image sequences.

Stable Predictive Control of Chaotic Systems Using Self-Recurrent Wavelet Neural Network

  • In this paper, a predictive control method using self-recurrent wavelet neural network (SRWNN) is proposed for chaotic systems. Since the SRWNN has a self-recurrent mother wavelet layer, it can well attract the complex nonlinear system though the SRWNN has less mother wavelet nodes than the wavelet neural network (WNN). Thus, the SRWNN is used as a model predictor for predicting the dynamic property of chaotic systems. The gradient descent method with the adaptive learning rates is applied to train the parameters of the SRWNN based predictor and controller. The adaptive learning rates are derived from the discrete Lyapunov stability theorem, which are used to guarantee the convergence of the predictive controller. Finally, the chaotic systems are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

웨이브렛 변환된 다해상도 영상을 이용한 계층적 움직임 추정 (Multi-resolution hierarchical motion estimation in the wavelet transform domain)

  • In this paper, a new hierarchical motion estiamtion scheme using the wavelet transformed multi-resolution image layers is proposed. Compared with the full search motion estimation method, the existing hierarchical methods remarkably reduce the amount of the computation but their efficiencies are depreciated by the local minima problem. In order to solve the local minima problem, the multi-resolution image layers are composed using the wavelet transform and the number of layers participated in the motion estimation for a block is determined by considering of its low band energy and higher band energy on the first wavelet transformed layer. The ratio between higher band energy and low band energy of each block is evaluated and in the case of the blocks which include relatively large higher band energy, the motion estimation is carried out in the high resolution layer. Otherwise, all layers are used. The final motion vectors are obtained in the first wavelet transformed layer. So less bits for motion vectors are transmitted, and the decomposition of received image using inverse wavelet transform decreases the blocking effect.

  • 웨이블릿 변환(Wavelet Transform)은 공간-주파수 영역에서 신호의 국소특성을 효율적으로 구현할 수 있다 하지만, 웨이블릿 변환을 패턴 인식을 위한 특징 추출에 적용할 경우, 입력 신호의 위치 이동에 따라 추출된 특징 값이 변화하게 되어 인식률이 낮아지는 결함이 있다. 본 논문에서는 웨이블릿 변환을 패턴 인식에 적용할 경우 발생하는 입력 신호의 위치 이동에 따른 문제점을 보완하여 노이즈에 강인한 홍채인식 알고리즘을 제안한다. 실험을 통하여 제안한 알고리즘의 우수성을 보여 준다.

  • The new islanding detection method using wavelet energy is proposed in this paper. The proposed method is based on the autocorrelation of the wavelet energies, which is obtained from the high-frequency components of the grid voltage. It has the enhanced detection capabilities in the UV/OV/UF/OF region, which the conventional passive methods cannot obtain. The mathematical theories on the wavelet are presented, and the performance effectiveness is proved by the experimental results.

  • Recently. the subject of "wavelet analysis" has drawn much attention from both mathematical and engineering application fields such as Signal Processing, Compression/ Decomposition, Statistics and etc. Analogous to Fourier analysis, wavelets is a versatile tool with very rich mathematical content and great potential for applications. Specially, wavelet transform uses localizable various mother wavelet functions in time-frequency domain. In this paper, discrimination analyses of acquired electrical current signals for each and mixed loads were tried by using Morlet wavelet transform. Their representative loads were classified as TV, DRY, REF, and FL.

  • This paper addresses the use of a nonlinear modeling procedure which construct a wavelet-based fuzzy model using genetic algorithm. A fuzzy inference system has the functional equivalence with a wavelet transform. Therefore, a wavelet-based fuzzy model using GA inherits the advantage of wavelet transform. Hereby, its performance is promoted. By help of the ability of GA to search the optimum globally, parameters of wavelet transform is determined closely to the optimal point. The feasibility of the proposed fuzzy model is proved by modelling a highly nonlinear function and comparing it with previous research.

  • This paper propose a new vector-quantizer design method for coefficients of wavelet transformed images. In conventional wavelet transform, it is quite often to employ wavelet transformed coefficients, not containing images to be encoded, as training sequences for designing a vector-quantizer. This method has a serious drawback ; it is not known how to find a proper set of training images. This paper investigates characteristics of images that should be considered in the design of vector-quantizers for wavelet transformed images. Besides the statistical parameters such as correlation and standard deviation, edge components are shown to characterise wavelet transform images. Training sequences established in accordance with the above knowledge are used in the design of quantizers having guaranteed range of applicable images. Results of computer simulations are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Fourier 변환은 연속이며, 무한 회 미분 가능한 함수인 반면, Wavelet 변환은 시간적으로도, 주파수적으로도 국재화 시키는 함수를 사용하는 점에서 차이가 있다. Fourier 변환에 비해 Wavelet 변환은 고주파 성분에 대해서는 시간 분해능이 높고, 저주파 성분에 대해서는 주파수 분해능이 높아지므로, 주어진 신호에 대한 지식이 없이도 시간-주파수 해석이 가능하고, 고주파 성분을 갖는 특이점의 검출에도 적합하다. 그러므로 Wavelet 변환의 이러한 성질을 이용하여 변압기의 출고전 권선의 완전한 절연을 검증하고자 한다. 이때 시행하는 뇌 임펄스 내전압 시험 시 나타난 푸리에 변환과 Wavelet 변환 곡선을 비교 분석 및 해석을 통하여 유의수준 및 신뢰 구간 둥의 통계학적 분석을 이용, 해석하여 보다 정확한 그래프를 산출하므로서 과도구간에 대한 정밀한 해석을 하고자 한다.
