  • In this paper, We compare the Harr wavelet of the S+P transform with various integer coefficient filter banks and apply 9/7 ICFB to the wavelet transform. In addition, we propose a entropy-coding method that exploits the multiresolution structure and the feedback of the prediction error, and can efficiently compress the transformed image for progressive transmission. Simulation results are included to compare to the compression ratio using the S+P transform with different types of images.

  • We propose 2-channel filter bank method instead of FFT method to decrease sub-channel interference for using of efficient frequency resource in MC-CDMA method. Since a prototype filter of filter bank having wavelet characteristic is designed having more less side-lobe, the nearest co-channel interference and inter symbol interference are decreased efficiently. Since the spreading signal of suggesting MC-CDMA system is being demanded for less chip rate and is not being considering for autocorrelation characteristic, the Walsh code can be used as a optimal orthogonal signal set. We consider bit error rate and signal to noise ratio to estimate the performance of suggested system on condition that white noise channel and arbitrary sinusoidal jammer are existing. As a result of comparing to traditional FFT-based MC-CDMA simulation result, our suggested system has shown better performance than traditional MC-CDMA method on the side of minimizing interference effect.

  • In this paper, we propose a fast and efficient method that improves the performance of embedded zerotree wavelet(EZW) algorithm introduced by Sharipo. In the EZW algorithm, two bits are allocated for a symbol, but it is inefficient for compression and the zerotree coding wastes much time at encoding. In this paper, in order to increase the efficiency of compression, it will be allocated a variable bit for a symbol at each subband. To reduce the encoding time, we use a backscan method and lifting scheme instead of filter bank in wavelet transform. Experimental result are shown that the algorithm suggested in this paper has a better performance about 0.3∼1.5㏈ PSNR while the encoding time was speeded up more than 2-10 times compared with the EZW algorithm.

  • In this paper, we describe the structure of the DWMT (discrete wavelet multitone) transceiver for VDSL system. The DWMT transceiver is basically consisted of the transmultiplexer using cosine modulation filter bank (CMFB), time domain equalizer (TEQ) and frequency domain equalizer (FEQ) minimizing the effects of the transmission channel. For FEQ, we expanded the general LMS algorithm to 2-dimensions: time and subchannel axes and examined the 2-dimensional LMS methods with the various array size.

  • Introduction of digital communication network such as Integrated Services Digital Networks(ISDN) and digital storage media have rapidly developed. Due to a large amount of image data, compression is the key techniques in still image and video using digital signal processing for transmitting and storing. Digital image compression provides solutions for various image applications that represent digital image requiring a large amount of data. In this paper, the proposed DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform) filter bank is consisted of simple architecture, but it is efficiently designed that a user obtain a wanted compression rate as only input parameter. If it is implemented by FPGA chip, the designed encoder operates in 12MHz.

  • In this paper, we propose a DWT (discrete Wavelet Transform) based watermarking method, which can be conveniently Integrated In the up-coming JPEG2770 baseline system. Although Conventional DWT based watermarking techniques insert watermark signal Into wavelet coefficients after the transform, our proposed method embeds a watermark into wavelet coefficients obtained from the ongoing process of lifting for DWT. The proposed method allows us to selectively determine frequency characteristics of the coefficients where the watermark is embedded. so that the Inserted watermark cannot be removed or altered even when the filter-bank for DWT is known. Through the simulation, we show that the proposed method is more secure and more robust against various attacks than conventional DWT barred watermarking techniques.

  • To improve the separation performance of time-frequency overlapped radar and communication signals from a single channel, this paper proposes an effective separation method based on an improved empirical wavelet transform (EWT) that introduces a fast boundary detection mechanism. The fast boundary detection mechanism can be regarded as a process of searching, difference optimization, and continuity detection of the important local minima in the Fourier spectrum that enables determination of the sub-band boundary and thus allows multiple signal components to be distinguished. An orthogonal empirical wavelet filter bank that was designed for signal adaptive reconstruction is then used to separate the input time-frequency overlapped signals. The experimental results show that if two source components are completely overlapped within the time domain and the spectrum overlap ratio is less than 60%, the average separation performance is improved by approximately 32.3% when compared with the classic EWT; the proposed method also improves the suitability for multiple frequency shift keying (MFSK) and reduces the algorithm complexity.

  • This paper presents a systematic design methodology for fault tolerant controller against a fault in actuators and sensors of linear stochastic systems with uncertainties. The scheme is based on fault detection and diagnosis(isolation and estimation) using a bank of robust two-stage Kalman filters, and accommodation of the actuator fault by eigenstructure assignment and immediate compensation of the sensor's faulty measurement. In order to clarify the fault feature in test statistics of residual, noise reduction method is given by multi-scale discrete wavelet transform. The effectiveness of our approach Is shown via simulations for a VTOL(vertical take-off and landing) aircraft subjected to parameter variations, external disturbances, process and sensor noises.

  • The SPIHT(set partitioning in hierarchical tree) is efficient and well-known in the zerotree coding algorithm. However SPIHT's high memory requirement is a major difficulty for hardware implementation. In this paper we propose low-memory and fast zerotree algorithm. We present following three methods for reduced memory and fst coding speed. First, wavelet transform by lifting has a low memory requirement and reduced complexity than traditional filter bank implementation. The second method is to divide the wavelet coefficients into a block. Finally, we use NLS algorithm proposed by Wheeler and Pearlman in our codec. Performance of NLS is nearly same as SPIHT and reveals low and fixed memory and fast coding speed.
