파장 변조 기법을 이용한 연소배기 가스의 계측 (Measurement of Exhaust Gas Concentration using Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy)

  • This work forcus on the development of gas sensor that measure the concentrations of exhaust gas using diode laser. Each diode laser for exhaust gas measurement is set to work at near-IR using both DA and WMS methods. Also use of fiber-coupled optical elements makes such a sensor rugged and easy to align. On-line data acquisition and processing can be performed with a PC running LabVIEW software, and absorption signals are measured simultaneously by multiplexing method. Finally, It were experimentally compared WMS (Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy) with DA (Direct Absorption) for the accuracy.

  • Diode laser absorption sensors are advantageous because they may provide fast, sensitive, absolute, and selective measurements of species concentration. These systems are very attractive for practical applications owing to its compactness, reasonable cost, robustness, and ease of use. In addition, diode lasers we fiber-optic compatible and thus enable simultaneous measurements of multiple species along a line-of-sight. Recent advances of room-temperature, near-IR and visible diode laser sources for telecommunication, optical data storage applications make it possible to be applied for combustion diagnostics based on diode laser absorption spectroscopy. Therefore, combined with fiber-optics and high sensitive detection strategies, compact and portable sensor systems are now appearing for variety of applications. The objectives of this research are to develop new gas sensing system and to verify feasibility of this system. Wavelength modulation spectroscopy has been demonstrated in these experiments and has a bright prospect to this diode laser system.

  • Recent advances in room-temperature, visible and near-IR diode laser sources for telecommunication, optical data storage applications are enabling combustion diagnostics system based on diode laser absorption spectroscopy. In contrast to some traditional sampling-based gas-sensing instruments, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy system is advantageous because of their non-invasive nature, high sensitivity, fast response time and real-time measurement capability. So, combined with fiber-optics and high sensitive detection strategies, compact and portable sensor system arc now appearing for a variety of applications. The objective of this research is to take advantage of distributed feed-back diode laser and measure the $CO_{2}$ concentration (by using direct absorption and wavelength modulation spectroscopy methods). In addition to survey spectra of $CO_{2}$ bands and spectroscopic parameters between 1565 and 1579 run were computed at temperatures between 296 and 1200 K (by using HITRAN 2000 database). It experimentally found out that the features of direct absorption and wavelength modulation spectroscopy methods.

다이오드 레이저를 이용한 배기가스 $O_2$ 농도 및 온도 동시 측정에 관한 실험적 연구 (The Experimental Study on Simultaneous Measurements of $O_2$ Concentration and Temperature of Flue Gas Using a Single Diode Laser)

  • Simultaneous measurements of oxygen concentration and temperature using diode laser in the combustion environment are successfully accomplished. A single DFB type diode laser of 760 nm line centre frequency is used and the scanned-wavelength direct absorption spectroscopy method and wavelength modulation spectroscopy method are applied to measure absorption signals below 793 K temperature region. The experimental results show that oxygen concentration are measured within 1% accuracy and temperature are measured within 5% accuracy. This new method of simultaneous measurements of concentration and temperature with a single diode laser shows a great promise.

Also use of fiber-coupled optical elements makes such a sensor rugged and easy to align. The results showed that gas concentrations of $O_2$, CO, $CO_2$, NO are accurately measured within ${\pm}2%$ error. The application of WMS method increased the beam intensity 2-3 times higher than DA method. It were experimentally compared WMS (Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy) with DA (Direct Absorption) for the accuracy.

Phonon bottleneck effects of InAs quantum dots

  • We have studied the carrier relaxation of InAs/GaAs modulation-doped quantum dots depending on the excitation wavelength and modulation-doping concentration by using the time-ressolved spectroscopy. At the excitation below GaAs barrier band gap, the relaxation processes become very slow, implying to observe the phonon bottleneck effects. On the other hand, at the excitation far above GaAs band gap, phonon bottleneck effects are broken down due to Auger processes. Increasing modulation-doping concentration, the relaxation times, by virtue of Coulomb scattering between electrons in GaAs doped layer and carriers in InAs quantum dots, are observed to become fast.

가시광선과 중적외선 영역의 무보정 파장 변조 분광법을 이용한 O2와 NO 가스 농도 측정에 관한 연구 (Study on Gas Concentration Measurement of O2 and NO Using Calibration-free Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy in Visible and Mid-Infrared Region)

  • 인체의 건강과 환경 오염으로 인해 대기환경 규제가 강화되었고 배출가스 저감 목표가 높아지면서 가스 측정법에 관한 관심이 늘어나고 있다. 측정법에는 표본 방식이 주로 사용되고 있으나 공간적 시간적 측정 한계로 인해, 실시간 In-situ 방식인 레이저 흡수분광법이 주목받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 파장 변조 분광법을 연구하였고 무보정 알고리즘에 대하여 설명하였다. 개발된 알고리즘은 46개의 다중 흡수선을 반영할 수 있도록 변경하였고 가시광선과 중적외선 영역의 광 흡수 신호 분석에 적용하였다. 추가로 레이저 변조 매개변수에 대한 차이를 분석하였고 다양한 농도 조건의 O2, NO 가스 측정 실험을 통해 성능을 검토한 결과, 선형성은 R2O2=0.99999, R2NO=0.99967로 나타났다.

  • 분리막을 이용한 산소-18 분리실험에서 분리된 시료의 동위원소 성분비 분석을 위해 다이오드 레이저 흡수분광장치를 구성하였다. 흡수신호의 신호 대 잡음비를 높이기 위해 lock-in증폭기를 사용한 파장변조 분광법을 채택하였다. 레이저의 주파수 변조폭 최적화와 FFT 저역통과 필터링을 통해 다중반사흡수셀에서 발생하는 간섭무늬 잡음을 줄였다. 산소-18에 대한 흡수분광장치의 최대편차는 $\pm$4$\textperthousand$로 측정되었다.
