Waterproofing Method for Waterproof Design of Underground Floor and Exterior Wall of Residential Buildings (공동주택 지하바닥 및 외벽부위 방수설계를 위한 방수공법 제안)

  • Research has begun to change the waterproofing design of domestic underground structure parts from the current negative-side waterproof design to the positive-side waterproof design. For this, active review from the design stage to prevent the ingress of external ground water into the waterproofing measures of the underground of apartment buildings is needed. Therefore, in this study, proper waterproofing method for the major leaks identified in the previous studies and a waterproofing method for the waterproof design of the underground floor and the outer wall is proposed. It is hoped that a follow-up study, such as a review of field applicability, for the proposed methods will provide an alternative to secure leakage stability in waterproof design.

  • Existing studies highlights the problems about the negative-side waterproofing design of apartment complex underground structures. This study suggests the alternatives for waterproof design construction details of as a solution, and a review on the applicability of this new construction design details through a mock-up construction is provided.

Tensile Adhesive Characteristics of Waterproofing System for Concrete Bridge Decks (바닥판 조건에 따른 교면방수 시스템의 인장접착 특성)

  • The waterproofing system's performance is known to show a determining by complex interaction of material factors, design details, and the qualify of construction, and the waterproofing integrity of waterproofing membranes is determined by the bond to the deck and the amount of damage to the waterproofing membrane. In this research, the basic properties of waterproofing membranes on market and the tensile adhesive characteristics of waterproofing systems of concrete bridge deck have also been investigated in the view of the damages frequently reported from job site. As a results of tensile adhesive strength of waterproofing system, tensile strength is decrease with surface moisture contents except for inorganic-elastomeric liquid waterproofing membrane, and increase with strength of deck slab. Also tensile adhesive strength is generally increase in case of moisture curing of specimen because of pore structure and surface leveling. The after asphalt concrete paving tends to increase more than before those. The results of the liquid waterproofing membranes are upside-down, and the more concrete has strength, the more strength of tensile adhesive increase. The ambient temperature and the rolling temperature of asphalt concrete when application of the waterproofing membrane has considerable influence on the performance of waterproofing system.

  • The waterproofing systems of concrete bridge deck are installed under the complex circumstances, such as traffic loading, weather, and the condition of the deck concrete. For assuring the effectiveness of waterproofing system, the materials and the construction method and timing ought to be suitably selected with the procedures of waterproofing and the system has to ensure the economical performances. First of all, we discussed whether the quality and performance criteria for highway bridge deck are resonable or not through the investigation of domestic and foreign criteria. The basic properties of waterproofing membranes on market and the performance of waterproofing systems of concrete bridge deck have also been investigated in the view of the damages frequently reported from job site. In this way, the causes and measures of damages, the guidelines of design, construction, quality control, and maintenance, the test methods and criteria of membranes and waterproofing system, are proposed.

  • Leakage problems in underground spaces of domestic apartments is becoming more serious and legal disputes related to leakage problem have become more commonplace. In this regard, leakage problem is not only a problem in construction, but is also a concern from a societal aspect. In this paper, we propose the details of a below-grade waterproofing design and specification standards of specific areas and sections of residential apartment buildings, and propose that a detailed examination of positive-side waterproofing methods is required.

  • In this study, the growth diagnosis of root is analyzed through plant's auxanology point of view, and the inductive root barrier ability of panel type waterproofing method which is designed to deal with it, is confirmed positively through long term(2 years) mock-up test. Moreover, basic ideas for inductive root barrier design in joint is presented through this study. The experiment result for the root barrier of sealed A-type during 24 months, there were no damages found on the waterproofing layer. -urethane sealing material was used to apply for waterproofing of joint- for roots. As the result, it was confirmed that it is possible to maintain the root barrier of method through applying inductive root barrier design such as the installation of decreasing space of bearing power which considers the growth diagnosis of root, even if the root barrier was not secured.

  • Recently, apartment houses are becoming more and more sophisticated and attention has been focused on the design of the interior of the bathrooms. As bathrooms always use water, the importance of waterproofing is very high. However, there continues to use the method that was used 30 years ago. And no one was trying to improve. It is necessary to be converted to a dry method, because waterproofing methods and materials have developed. Therefore, this study proposes the required performance before applying the dry waterproofing material to bathroom.

  • There is a problem to be solved for improvement of durability and safety supervision. When you do the waterproofing and anticorrosive work of main concrete from the design stage, the material and method of construction need to be correctly applied to appropriate circumstance conditions. Epoxy have mostly been used for concrete water tank structure. Lately, lots of subjects on adaption of polyurea resin waterproofing and anticorrosive are under discussion. Then, we attempt to approach by evaluating and comparing every capabilities with another waterproofs in this study. Performance evaluation items include the adherence performance, the imprint of seal performance, temperature dependence performance, promotion weatherizing ability, inner chemical performance, drinking water eruptive performance. Through the experiment analysis, we found that the polyurea resin waterproofing membrane is dominantly superior to other waterproofs. According to this study, we suggest the polyurea resin waterproofing membrane as a new waterproofing material for concrete structure.
