There are need to manage the water quality to supply an safety to consumer through pipe and reservoir the drinking water that produced in a clean water reservoir. However, a management of water quality and monitoring in reservoir have never been performed. Recently, the government has enforced standards of water quality. However, we have a inferior technology of water quality as compared with one in USA, Japan, Germany, etc. In case of water quality inspection and analysis equipments, sensor technology is very important to improve the water quality inspection and to develop the analysis equipments. In this paper, we analyze a law and a regulation for management of drinking water quality, and propose the measurement standards of drinking water quality in pH, conductivity, residual chloride, turbidity and water temperature. Then, we analyze electrode sensors that interference within pH, conductivity, residual chloride in interference experiment.
The Saemangeum watershed is required to manage water pollution effectively but the effect of liquid manure (LM) on soil and water quality in the basin is not clearly identified as yet. This study aims at assessing the effect on soil of a rice field and water quality of water bodies near the rice field during rice-crop time period to find out the effect of LM, the effect of rainfall, and the effect of rice-crop environment on soil and water quality by analyzing data of nitrogen components. As a result of the LM distribution, $NO_3-N$ was much higher than other N components in the entire soil layers and it was accelerated by rainfall right after the LM distribution. Compared to chemical fertilizer (CF), LM was slightly affected but still influenced on the surface water quality. During weak rainfall, low nitrogen concentration in topsoil was resulted as NH3-N decreased and Org-N and $NO_3-N$ increased. $NO_3-N$ concentration in the water of irrigation canals increased with time. During intensive rainfall, $NO_3-N$ and Org-N of the soil were measured highly in the submerged condition, while the water quality of the rice field was lower due to flooding into the irrigation canal as well as the growth of the rice plants. Also, total nitrogen was increased more than 7 times and it showed serious water quality deterioration due to LM and excessive fertilizer distribution, and rainfall during all rice-crop processes. The effect of LM on water quality should be studied consistently to provide critical data while considering weather condition, cropping conditions, soil characteristics, and so on.
The Ministry of the Environment conducts a water environment management plan and TMDL(Total Maximum Daily Load) for integrated watershed management, and determines whether the target water quality is achieved using water quality monitoring data. The concentration of monitoring points located in the downstream of the watershed is the outcome of complicated mechanisms such as influx of pollutants from the tributaries of the watershed and self-purification of river water. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of main stream and tributary water quality on the target water quality point using the water pollution source tracking and exceedance rate of watershed. In this study, FDC and exceedance rate analysis were performed on six water quality items including BOD and T-P, which are the targets of TMDL. Water quality items and points affecting the target water quality point were derived from flow rate. In this study, the pollution source tracking through FDC analysis and exceedance rate analysis will be able to establish more efficiently the water quality management strategy for each branch to achieve the target water quality.
This study aims at the examination of the relative characteristics of discharge and water quality in river basins using statistical methods. For it, water quality and discharge data was collected in observed stations of Nakdong river and carried out correlation analysis, regression analysis, factor analysis and cluster analysis. And it was investigated the applicability of water quality prediction using Nearest-neighbor method. As a result, it grasped a trenditional characteristics and mutual relations between discharge an water quality data. Therefore, this results were suggested the comprehensive data and methods for a management of water quality, effective operation and policy development in Nakdong river basin.

Investigated was the effectiveness of a constructed wetland system on water quality in Hwa-Ong estruarin reservoir, located in Hwasung-Gun, Kyunggi-Do. Procedures for estimation of pollutant loading from watershed and required area for natural systems, and simulation of corresponding reservoir water quality were reviewed. Generally, simulated reservoir water quality was within the reasonable range, and about 15% of total polder farmland was required to meet the agricultural water quality standards. The model was applied based on the current loading condition without additional treatment systems. Wetland system is an ecologically sound treatment system. Therefore, natural systems can be an alternative measure for water quality improvement in polder projects. The area for natural systems was estimated using literature value which might be acceptable at the planning stage. However, pilot system and its experimental data are requisite for large scale field application. WASP5 was proved to be a useful and versatile model, and its application to estuarine reservoir water quality simulation was thought to be appropriate.

Predictions of stream water quality require both estimation of pollutant loading from different sources and simulation of water quality processes in the stream. Nonpoint source pollution models are often employed for estimating pollutant loading in rural watersheds. In this study, a conjunctive application of SWAT model and WASP model was made and evaluated for its applicability based on the simulation results. Runoff and nutrient loading obtained from the SWAT model were used for generating input data for WASP model. The results showed that the simulated runoff was in good agreement with the observed data and indicated reasonable applicability. Loading for the water quality parameters predicted by WASP model also showed a reasonable agreement with the observed data. It is expected that stream water quality could be predicted by the coupled application of the two models, SWAT and WASP, in rural watersheds.
The future water quality of Youngwol Dam was predicted using FEMWASP. In the this study, point and non-point source in the basin was investigated in detail, and future pollutant loading was computed by various prediction technique. The water quality of 29 sites was analyzed over four seasons. FEMWASP was used to predict future water quality of Youngwol lake and downstream of proposed dam. Future water quality of Youngwol lake was predicted to configure eutrophication status, management criteria was suggested to minimize the pollution problems coming from future eutrophication. Discharge rate of dam was decided as 30CMS to conserve the water quality, and overall design of dam was changed.
Recently, there are a lot of studies to use a satellite image data in order to investigate a simultaneous change of a wide range area as a lake. However, many cases of a water quality research occur as problem when we try to extract the water quality factors from the satellite image data, because of the atmosphere scattering exert as bad influence on a result of analysis. In this study, and attempt was made to select the relative atmospheric correction method for the water quality factors extraction from the satellite image data. And also, the time-series analysis of the water quality factors extraction from the satellite image data. And also, the time-series analysis of the water quality factors was performed by using the multi-temporal image data.

Lake water quality assessment information is useful to anyone involved in lake management, from lakeshore owners to lake associations. 11 provides lake water quality, which can improve how to manage lake resources and how to measure current conditions. It also provides a knowledge base that can be used to protect and restore lakes. SWMM was applied to simulate the discharge and pollutant loads from Boryeong watershed, and WASP5 was applied to analyze the changes of water quality in Boryeong freshwater lake. In each model, the most suitable parameters were calculated through sensitive analysis and some parameters used default data. Simulated in SWMM and measured discharge showed the accuracy of 88.6%. T-N and T-P exceeds the criteria in the simulation of water quality in Boryeong freshwater lake, and control of pollutant loads in the main stream showed the most effective way. Integrated water quality management system was developed to give convenience in the operation of SWMM and WASP5 and data acquisition.
The free-living amoeba and Acanthamoeba sp. are widely distributed in fresh water, soil, air and dust in the world. We studied distribution of amoeba from low Nakdong River(Mulgum and Maeri) and removal efficiency in water treatment process of Busan metropolitan city. During this investigation, water quality showed pH $7.4{\sim}9.6({\pm}1.1)$, water temperature $2.0{\sim}29.0({\pm}17)^{\circ}C$, turbidity $4.8{\sim}27.4({\pm}11.0)$ NTU, chlorophyll-a $10.3{\sim}109.0({\pm}44.3)\;mg/m^{3}$, BOD $1.7\sim4.9({\pm}2.6)$ mg/L, COD $3.1\sim-6.9({\pm}5.0)$ mg/L and total coliform $17\sim920({\pm}200.5)$ MPN/100 mL. The free-living amoeba were detected highly than Acanthamoeba sp., 11 out of 22 in raw water samples were positive (50%) for Acanthamoeba sp. from February 2005 to December 2005. The seasonal characteristics of tree-living amoeba and Acanthamoeba sp. in raw water were mainly distributed through the spring to the early fall. When tree-living amoeba and Acanthamoeba sp. were passed through the water treatment of pilot-plant, approximately 80% was sure to be removed through pre-ozonation, sedimentation, send filtration. 100% was removed after post-ozonation process. All of the isolated amoebas from Nakdong River were Acanthamoeba sp. AC311 18S ribosomal RNA gene with 98% nucleotide sequence homology.
