In this study optimal analysis of pipe network was performed using linear and non linear analysis method for complex real pipe network system of Mungyeong water purification field system which consists of 70 nodes and 86 elements. From the examination result of total flow which is distributed to each pipe, it is found that KYPIPE2 Model supplies less amount than NLAM. It is known that dynamic water level and pressure head of KYPIPE2 Model and NLAM are nearly in accordance with each other from each method of the pipe network analyses, and appeared that both methods of analysis shows high reliable result since the distribution of dynamic water level for every node is the short range of EL. 205.0m~EL. 210.0m besides the pressed dynamic water level. The analysis results of pressure in the methods of pipe network analysis for KYPIPE2 Model and NLAM are similar and it is satisfactory result that the pressure distributions of the tab water design criterion of 5.0kgf/cm$^2$ besides the small part of highland.
Most of existing buried pipes are composed of reinforced concrete. Reinforced concrete pipes have many problems such as aging, corrosion, leaking, etc. The polyethylene (PE) pipes have advantages to solve these problems. The plastic pipes buried underground are classified into a flexible pipe. National standard that has limited the long-term vertical deformation of the pipe to 5% for flexible pipes including PE pipe. This study presents a prediction for the long-term behavior of the polyethylene pipe based on ASTM D 5365. This prediction method is presented to estimate by using the statistical method from the initial deflection measurement data. We predict the behavior of long-term performance on the double-wall pipe and multi-wall pipe. As a result, it was found that the PE pipe will be sound enough more than 50 years if the compaction of soil around the pipe is more than 95% of the standard soil compaction density.
Geothermal effects on the underground water conveyance pipe system have been investigated through the multiregional water supply system from Paldang water intake station. To make an investigation of raw water thermal energy, temperature sensors are installed the surface of the pipes of metropolitan area water supply system. In 2009 winter and early spring seasons, the monthly averaged temperatures at Paldang 2 intake stations are $1.94^{\circ}C$ in February, $4.96^{\circ}C$ in March, and $10.56^{\circ}C$ in April. After the transfer in 26.0 km distance of tunnel and buried pipe, the raw water temperatures are raised to $3.13^{\circ}C$, $6.04^{\circ}C$, and $11.39^{\circ}C$ respectively. As the temperature difference between the raw water and the air reduces, the temperature increasement is reduced by $1.19^{\circ}C$ in Feb., $1.08^{\circ}C$ in Mar., and $0.83^{\circ}C$ in Apr. Since the flowrate is over 1,150,000 $m^3$/day, it is estimated that the water exchanges a huge amount of heat over 1.0 Tcal a day with the ground.
A study of the possible axisymmetric modes that propagate at low frequencies in buried, water-filled pipes is presented. It is well known that for a vacuum-pipe-vacuum system the sole non-torsional axisymmetric mode that exists at low frequencies is the fundamental L(0,1) mode. When a pipe is filled with water and still surrounded by a vacuum it is also known that another mode then appears which at low frequencies is characterized by predominantly axial water-borne displacements. In addition to these modes. this paper explores two other, less well known axisymmetric modes whose exitence depends on the acoustic properties of the outer medium that surrounds a pipe. The predicted characteristics of these modes are presented and the likelihood of them propagating over any significant distance in a buried water pipe is discussed.

Most of aged water supply pipes have been replaced by the open cut method. However, this method has some limitations because water pipes, in many cases, are buried together with other underground facilities or are buried in the middle of high-traffic roads or in narrow alleyways where boring machines cannot be used. This research developed a pipe bursting device for small diameter pipes that enables pipe replacement without excavating the ground, by the busting of existing buried pipes followed by the traction and insertion of new pipes. As a results of examining the field applicability of the developed device, PE pipes and PVC pipes required the tractive force of 413.65~665.69 kgf and 457.43~791.35 kgf respectively, plus an additional 30 % tractive force per elbow. The proper number of bursting head was demonstrated that the connection of more than 2 heads could secure a stable bending radius of 15D. The developed device can be improved through field experiments involving various pipe types and pipe diameters, as well as presence/absence of elbow, so as to be utilized regardless of diverse variables according to the conditions of the soils surrounding existing pipes.
Four cast iron pipe sections containing 3 styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) gaskets (1 joint and 2 end caps) were filled with water and maintained at approximately 40 psi internal pressure. The pipe sections were placed inside 16 gallon drums filled with initially clean sand. Three of the tanks were subsequently contaminated with gasoline, gasoline spiked with pyrene and naphthalene, and toluene. The forth tank served as a control. The water inside each pipe was monitored over time for organic chemical contamination. Permeation of organic chemicals into the water inside the pipe systems was found to occur in all 3 contaminated pipe systems after approximately 100 days as measured organic chemicals concentrations were significantly above those in the uncontaminated cell. Flushing experiments in which the water inside the contaminated pipes was replaced with initially clean water showed that organic chemical concentrations inside the pipe rapidly (12 days) reached their preflushing levels.
In this study, corrosion depth equation was suggested according to real measured corrosion data, and then management indexes of pipe network which can determine the deterioration rate and safety rate has been established and applied to real pipe networks. Furthermore, reliability analysis and management index analysis have been conducted to estimate and compare the deterioration rate. From the results of reliability analysis, it was found that probability of failure of 200 mm steel pipe can be increased from 4.36% at present time to 8.23% after 20years at Gaduk and from 7.35% to 12.99% at Nami. From the results of management index analysis, it was found that deterioration rates of Gaduk and Nami are 1.009 and 1.174, respectively. Priority of improvement and replacement of water pipe can be determined by results of reliability analysis and management index analysis.

In this paper, we propose new water pressure measurement system to measure the water pressure of water pipe laid underground beneath the manhole efficiently. For this purpose, we installed water pressure sensor(IoT) which has built-in bluetooth module at valve of water pipe. The proposed system can be managed through collected data which measured at sensor and then transmitted to smart phone through bluetooth connectivity and re-transmitted to server on this system. By checking out water pressure data stored in server from remote location, the persons in charge can confirm the leakage of water pipe or propriety of water pressure in management area. By this procedure, they can detect the existence of condition of water pipe and manage water pressure of water pipe efficiently.
The free residual chlorine of tap water samples, collected from 266 faucets on the water pipe network in Daegu City, was between 0.1 and 0.79 mg/L. On microorganic tests, general bacteria and the coliform goup were not detected and thus the tap water was turned out to be fit to drink. In particular, samples of which free residual chlorine was 0.1 mg/L and over were cultured in R2A agar media at $25^{\circ}C$ for 7 days, and as a result heterotrophic bacteria were detected in 65.9% of samples; (1). The closer tap water got to the faucet from the stilling basin, the lower residual chlorine concentration became but the more the bacterial count became. And, more bacteria were detected in the R2A agar medium than in the PCA medium. (2). In the case of separated strains, most colonies were reddish or yellowish. 16S rRNA sequence was identified as Methylobacterium sp. and Williamsia sp., and yellow strain was identified as Sphingomonas sp., Sphingobium sp., Novosphingobium sp., Blastomonas sp., Rhodococcus sp. and Microbacterium sp. White strain was identified as Staphylococcus sp. (3). Sterilized tap water in polyethylene bottles was inoculated with separated strain and was left as it was for 2 months. As a result, bio-film was observed in tap water inoculated with Methylobacterium sp. and Sphingomonas sp. It was found that heterotrophic bacteria increased when free residual chlorine was removed from tap water in the water pipe network. Thus, there is a need to determine a base value for heterotrophic bacteria in order to check the cleanliness of tap water in the water pipe network.
The grooving corrosion is caused mainly by the different microstructures between the matrix and weld which is formed during the rapid heating and cooling cycle in welding. By this localized corrosion reaction of pipes, it evolves economic problems such as the early damage of industrial facilities and pipe lines of apartment, and water pollution. So lots of researches were carried out already about grooving corrosion mechanism of ERW carbon steel pipe but there is seldom study for water hammer happened by fluid phenomenon and corrosion rate by flow velocity. In this study, the analysis based on hydrodynamic and fracture mechanics was carried out. ANSYS, FLUENT and STAR-CD were used for confirmation of flow phenomenon and stress on the pipe. As the results, fatigue failure is able to be happened by water hammer and grooving corrosion rate is increased cause by turbulent. Grooving corrosion is happened on the pipe, then friction loss of fluid is occurred from corroded part. Erosion can be happened enough in corroded region of microscopic size that wear "V" form. Also pipe is able to be damaged by water hammer effects because of corroded region is general acting as a notch effects. Corrosion depth was more than half of total thickness, it can be damaged from water hammer pressure.
