수질자료의 불확실성이 수질관리에 미치는 영향 (Impacts of Uncertainty of Water Quality Data on Wate Quality Management)

  • Uncertainty is one of the key issues of the water quality management. Uncertainty occurs in the course of all water quality management stages including monitoring, modeling, and regulation enforcement. To reduce uncertainties of water quality monitoring, manualized monitoring methodology should be developed and implemented. In addition, long-term monitoring is essential for acquiring reliable water quality data which enables best water quality management. For the water quality management in the watershed scale, fate of pollutant including its generation, transport and impact should be considered while regarding each stage of water quality management as an unit process. Uncertainties of each stage of water quality management should be treated properly to prevent error propagation transferred to the next stage of management for successful achievement of water quality conservation.

홍삼가루, 수분 및 당 첨가량에 따른 인절미의 품질특성 (Quality Characteristics of Injeulmi by Different Ratios of Red Ginseng Powder, Water and Sugar)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 홍삼 분말(0, 5, 10 %), 물(12, 16, 20 %), 설탕(4, 8, 12 %)의 첨가량을 달리하여 최적의 배합비를 찾기위하여 실시하였다. 인절미 제조에 있어서 수분 첨가량이 증가할수록 생균수는 증가하였다. 홍삼가루 첨가에 따른 생균수는 5% 첨가군에서는 유의적인 차이가 없었지만 10% 첨가군에서는 생균수가 감소하였다. 홍삼 첨가량에 따른 굳기의 변화는 홍삼 무첨가군은 수분첨가량 20%를 제외한 실험군에서 24 hr이후에 급격한 증가를 나타내었다. 그러나 홍삼 5% 첨가군에서는 수분 및 설탕 첨가량에 상관없이 굳기의 변화가 거의 나타나지 않았다. 또한 홍삼 10% 첨가군에서도 수분 첨가량 12% 이외에는 굳기의 변화가 거의 나타나지 않았다. 관능검사에서 홍삼 첨가 10%군은 홍삼 특유의 향미와 맛이 너무 강한 것으로 나타났으나, 홍삼 첨가 5%군은 향, 맛, 색이 적당한 것으로 나타났다. 생균수 측정, 조직감 측정과 관능검사의 결과에서 홍삼인절미의 최적의 배합비는 찹쌀가루에 대해 홍삼가루, 수분, 설탕이 각각 5, 16, 8%로 나타났으며 홍삼가루 첨가는 인절미의 저장성 향상효과가 있었다.

  • One metabolism trial(Experiment I) and another respiration trial(Experiment II) were conducted to investigate the effects of dietary fiber supplementation(20% wheat bran) on the water balance, blood acid-base balance, body temperature, and metabolic rate of heat-stressed adult roosters. In Experiment I, twenty 20-wk-old SCWL roosters(BW 1.6 kg) were randomly alloted to 4 treatments with 5 birds per treatment and one per replicate. The 4 treatments were consisted of two temperature(21~22˚C vs. 34~35˚C) and two dietary fiber treatment(0% and 20% wheat bran), making Experiment I a 2x2 factorial. After 4 d of preliminary period, birds we subjected to 3-d collection period. Sixteen 20-wk-old SCWL roosters(BW 1.6 kg) were employed Experiment H, with two temperature(21~22˚C vs. 34~35˚C) and two wheat bran levels(0% and 20%). Brids were housed in individual metabolism cages under normal temperature(21~22˚C), at fed one of the experimental diet. After 4 d of preliminary period, a respiration trial with open-circuit gravimetric respiratory apparatus was carried out for each bird for 6 h, one by one, normal(20~21˚C) and hot(34~35˚C) temperatures. The ANOVA test and comparisons among treatment means were done at 5% probability level for both experiments. Results obtained from Experiment I and, II were summarized as follows, 1.The amounts of DM intake and excretion were significantly(P<.05) decreased by heat stress. The DM intake was not affected by the addition of 20% wheat bran, however, the amount of DM excretion was significantly increased by the high fiber diet. Thus, the DM metabolizability decreased significantly by the addition of 20% wheat bran. 2. The heat-stressed roosters increased the water intake and excreta moisture content significantly. Although not significant, the water intake tended to increase in roosters fed the 20% wheat bran diet. 3. The amounts of total water input and evaporative water loss were increased significantly by heat stress, and the addition of 20% wheat bran did not exert any influence on the total water input and evaporative water loss. However, roosters fed the 20% wheat bran diet increased the excreta water output significantly. 4. Neither the heat stress nor the dietary fiber did affect the blood pH, pCO2, and HCO$_3$- significantly. 5. The body temperature increased significantly by the heat stress. However, the high fiber deit failed to decrease the body temperature. 6. The heat-stressed roosters decreased the 02 consumption and C0$_2$ production, and increased the evaporative water loss significantly. However, the high fiber diet did not exert any infulence in this regard. It appears that the beneficial effect, if any, of high fibrous diet during heat stress episode may be due to the increased heat loss through the enhanced excreta water.

  • The world's supply of water in all forms is enormous. However, only a tiny fraction of the planet's supply is available to us as fresh water, and that is distributed very unevenly. About 97% of oater volume is found in the oceans and is too salty for drinking, growing crops, and most industrial uses except cooling. In addition water supply crises in already-water-short-regions will intensify because population and industrialization increase. Today, remote monitoring and control systems are becoming the cost-effective management tools for almost all water user groups, including irrigators, water districts, municipal water suppliers, and wildlife management groups. This paper represents a new approach in the water-gate control using radio communication. The proposed device is simple in structure and suitable for implementation of water-gate control through the transceiver by radio communication. It was confirmed that the developed device was very efficient to control level of water-gate and to prove the up and down motion of water-gate through the LCD displayer.

  • Water mist fire suppression system utilizes the fire suppression features such as cooling of fire source, dilution of ambient oxygen, and shielding of radiation heat with the evaporation of microscopic water droplets. The momentum of water mist is relatively low and the infiltration of water mist to the fire source is not effective. In addition to lower penetration force, the evaporated water vapor is liable to decline to limited portion of fire source due to its light weight and sparse density. On the other hand, the cycling water mist system is expected to improve the penetration force of water mist as well as the dilution coverage capability with the stratified spray characteristics. At this paper we present the analyzed fire suppression capability of intermittent water spray pattern by use of FDS which is computational fire dynamics fire model. We expect this analysis shall be supportive to the development of the prototype of water mist nozzle.

  • At present, the overall water resources monitoring ability in China is weak since there is an absence of a sound monitoring system and comprehensive monitoring information. In addition to the problem of weak management ability in monitoring, measurement and information, it can hardly meet the need of implementing the strictest management system of water resource and also restricts the practice of the system to some extent. The production states the necessity of further development of water resources monitoring ability and points out the concept of "One Country, One Account" for constructing water resources information. There is an analysis on the demand on further development of water resources monitoring ability and profound discussion about the strategies for supporting "three red-line" management.

혼합모델을 이용한 새만금호 저층수 내 영양염의 공급과 제거에 관한 연구 (Estimation of Addition and Removal Processes of Nutrients from Bottom Water in the Saemangeum Salt-Water Lake by Using Mixing Model)

  • 이 연구는 새만금 방조제가 조성된 이후 새만금호에서 영양염($NO_3$-N, $NO_2$-N, $NH_4$-N, TN, $PO_4$-P, TP, DISi)의 거동을 이해하기 위해 수행되었으며, 특히 2008년~2010년까지 새만금호의 표층과 저층에서 매월 관측된 환경인자(수온, 염분, 용존산소, 부유물질, Chl-a)와 상호 비교하여 특징을 논의하였다. 표층에서 $NO_3$-N, TP, $PO_4$-P, DISi는 제거현상을 보였고, $NO_2$-N, $NH_4$-N, Chl-a는 첨가현상을 보였다. 저층에서는 $NO_3$-N을 제외하고 모든 항목들이 첨가현상을 보였다. 따라서 $NO_3$-N을 제외한 나머지 영양염들은 저층수에서 지속적으로 공급되고 있음을 의미한다. 혼합모델을 이용하여 저층수에서 영양염의 거동을 분석한 결과, 생지화학적 과정에 의해 $NO_3$-N이 주로 하계에 감소되는 것으로 나타났고, $NH_4$-N과 $PO_4$-P는 하계에 증가되는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 $PO_4$-P와 $NH_4$-N의 증가는 강하구 쪽에서 더욱 뚜렷하게 나타났고, 표층과 저층 사이의 DO의 농도 차이와 강한 양의 상관성을 보였다. DISi도 저층수에서 지속적으로 공급되고 있음을 보였으나, $NH_4$-N과 $PO_4$-P와는 다르게 하계뿐만 아니라 춘계에도 공급되는 경향을 보였다. 또한 $NH_4$-N과 $PO_4$-P가 방조제 쪽보다 하구 쪽에서 더 많이 공급되는 것과는 다르게 DISi는 양쪽에서 유사하게 공급됨을 보였다. 이러한 DISi의 특징은 퇴적물로부터 분자확산에 의한 flux를 계산한 결과, 저층수에서 공급되는 영양염은 퇴적물로부터 용출되는 것 이외에 SGD 등 다른 유입기원이 있는 것을 암시한다.

배급수 계통에서 부식억제제 적용에 따른 부식과 적수와의 상관관계 (Correlation between Corrosion Rate and Red Water on Application of Corrosion Inhibitor in Drinking Water Distribution System)

  • This study was performed to evaluate the application of corrosion inhibitor and to examine the correlation between corrosion rate and red water in a series of batch tests and a test using auto corrosion monitoring system at A water treatment plant in Gyeonggido. The corrosion study in the auto corrosion monitoring system indicated that Fe concentration decreased by 30~50% and corrosion rate also reduced remarkably with corrosion inhibitor at $1.8mg\;PO_4/L$. After addition of corrosion inhibitor, it was indicated the effective adsorption of the inhibitor on the surface of the pipe line forming a protective film. The corrosion rate increases with the increase in Fe concentration. With $1.8mg\;PO_4/L$ of corrosion inhibitor, the corrosion rate decreased remarkably. Fe concentration had correlation to not only red water problems but also the corrosion rate that actually dissolved into the water, primarily due to the deposition of oxidized iron or other compounds as a scale, which serves as a large reservoir of corrosion by-product. Therefore, corrosion rate can be estimated by Fe concentration. For these reasons, an effective corrosion inhibitor is also an effective red water control reagent. The effect of the corrosion inhibition can last for some time even the application the corrosion inhibitor is discontinued. For the cost effective and efficient corrosion control, the concentration and timing of corrosion inhibitor addition must be determined properly.

물을 첨가한 탄소나노튜브의 저온 저압 합성 (Water-Assisted Synthesis of Carbon Nanotubes at Low Temperature and Low Pressure)

  • Water-assisted synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) has been intensively studied in recent years, reporting that water vapor enhances the activity and lifetime of metal catalyst for the CNT growth. While most of these studies has been focused on the supergrowth of CNTs at high temperature, rarely has the similar approach been made for the CNT synthesis at low temperature. Since the metal catalyst are much less active at lower temperature, we expect that the addition of water vapor may increase the activity of catalyst more largely at lower temperature. We synthesized multi-walled CNTs at temperature as low as $360^{\circ}C$ by introducing water vapor during growth. The water addition caused CNTs to grow ~3 times faster. Moreover, the water-assisted growth prolonged the termination of CNT growth, implying the enhancement of catalyst lifetime. In general, a thinner catalyst layer is likely to produce smaller-diameter, longer CNTs. In a similar manner, the water vapor had a greater effect on the growth of CNTs for a smaller thickness of catalyst in this study. To figure out the role of process gases, CNTs were grown in the first stage and then exposed to each of process gases in the second stage. It was shown that water vapor and hydrogen did not etch CNTs while acetylene led to the additional growth of CNTs even faster in the second stage. As-grown CNTs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and Raman spectroscopy.

수분 함량에 따른 바이오에탄올혼합 연료유의 상 분리 영향성에 관한 연구 (Study on Effect of Phase Separation of Bioethanol Blends Fuel by Water Contents)

  • When bioethanol and water are mixed at a proper ratio, phase separation can occur because of the immiscibility of biobutanol with water. Phase separation in bioethanol blends fuels is a major problem for gasoline vehicle users due to effect of octane number and component corrosion. Thus, in this study, the phase separation of bioethanol was examined effect of bioethanol blends (E3 (3 vo.% bioethanol in gasoline), E5 and E10) in presence of water. The effect were evaluated behavior with phase separation test, simulation test of fuel tank in gas station according to water addition volume and it was investigated change of water content, bioethanol content and octane number for gasoline phase in bioethanol blends (E3, E5 and E10) every 1 week after water addition. The E3 occurred phase separation more easily than the E5 and E10 in small water contents because solubility of water on ethanol content difference in gasoline-ethanol. It was kept a initial level of water content, bioethanol content, and octane number by repeated sample replacing in simulation test of fuel tank.
