  • Network intrusion detection have been continuously improved by using data mining techniques. There are two kinds of methods in intrusion detection using data mining-supervised learning with class label and unsupervised learning without class label. In this paper we have studied the way of improving network intrusion detection accuracy by using LBG clustering algorithm which is one of unsupervised learning methods. The K-means method, that starts with random initial centroids and performs clustering based on the Euclidean distance, is vulnerable to noisy data and outliers. The nonuniform binary split algorithm uses binary decomposition without assigning initial values, and it is relatively fast. In this paper we applied the EM(Expectation Maximization) based LBG algorithm that incorporates the strength of two algorithms to intrusion detection. The experimental results using the KDD cup dataset showed that the accuracy of detection can be improved by using the LBG algorithm.

  • Container cranes are vulnerable structure about difficult weather conditions bemuse there is no shielding facility to protect them from the strong wind. This study was carried out to analyze the wind load which have an effect on container crane according to the various wind direction. The container crane is a model of a 61-ton class that used broadly in the current ports. The external fluid field was figured as a cylinder which was set up $500m{\times}200m$. In this study, we applied mean wind load conformed to 'Design Criteria of Wind Load' in 'Load Criteria of Building Structures' and an external fluid field was divided as interval of 10 degrees to analyze effect according to a wind direction In this conditions, we carried out the computation fluid dynamic analysis using the CFX-10. As we compared computation fluid dynamic analysis with wind tunnel test, we analyzed the wind load which was needed to design the container crane.

  • The new renewable energy became popular as a clean and sustainable alternative energy under the circumstances that the entire world is facing severe abnormal climate due to the use of fossil fuel, and among which, solar energy can be obtained anywhere and is not difficult to apply it into the existing buildings, which makes it possible to be widely distributed. However, as PV module is installed into a single plate system, it shows structural weaknesses which are vulnerable to wind load and give loss to design elements in external appearance. Accordingly, this study planned one-step parallel system to complement the problems occurring from a single plate system and used STAR-CCM+ V.8 made by CD-Adapco, a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation tool to measure wind load stability and support based on the design standards for a single plate system and one-step parallel system. Building height was limited to less than 10m and wind speed was given when increasing from 35m/s to 50m/s by 5m/s on PV system installed into the flat roof. In this case, our analysis suggested that step-one parallel system was in class 7-9 according to Beaufort's wind power classification, which did not have an impact on the fixed PV system, and the single plate system is considered to cause risks in designing wind speed in central districts because it is more than wind power class 12.

  • Hydrogen is receiving much research attention as an alternative substitute for hydrocarbon fuels these days due to its cleanliness and renewability. However, hydrogen should be used with caution because of its high propensity for leak and wide flammable range. This study deals with a situation that hydrogen leaks and then forms a flammable mixture inside 1kW class residential fuel cell. The residential fuel cell was modeled as a box-shaped chamber with vent openings at the top and bottom, filled with various components such as reformer, desulfurizer, fuel cell stack and humidifier. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was used to simulate the diffusion, buoyant flow and accumulation of leaked hydrogen in the modeled chamber. From the simulation, the risk region vulnerable to flame was identified and the methods to minimize such hazardous region was discussed. When the vent openings are 1% of the total surface, as the quantity of hydrogen leakage increases the risk regions increases accordingly. As the vent openings of the total surface increased from 1% to 2.3%, averaged hydrogen mole fraction is under 1% in the system.

  • Affordable housing has been a critical issue in the face of global economy and notably formulated a crucial agenda of the housing policy. While each local government seriously considers many approaches to providing affordable housing, a unique and innovative way to address it at a community level is fully uncovered, particularly nonmetropolitan areas where resources for economic development are limited and vulnerable. The purpose of this study is to examine the mechanism of the provision of affordable housing for the elderly in nonmetropolitan areas. In doing so, this research investigates the housing development and delineates it as one viable solution that stimulates local communities. The affordable housing development, as a viable option to spur local development and vibrate community, is closely reviewed, and the factors to make it feasible are drawn. The findings indicate that it is widely recognized that keeping the elderly in the community positively contributes to maintaining a sustainable community. In fact, the idea of affordable housing development for middle-class elderly people is brought by one inspired long-time resident, and it is expedited by the consensus and cohesion of local community. The development stimulates local businesses in relation to housing, and all homes sold by the elderly moving in the new housing are available for young families. Also, the presence of affordable housing for the elderly who are able to independently live is extended to a picture of aging-in-place at a broader level.

  • This study was to determine the inappropriate drug use in pediatric outpatients who received 2 or more prescriptions on the same day. Retrospective drug utilization reviews (DURs) were implemented to samples obtained from national health insurance claims data during December 2008 to February 2009, using 5 DUR criteria (duplication, drug-drug interaction, drug-disease interaction, drug-age contraindication, incorrect dosage) established in the Drug Information Framework (DIF)-$Korea^{TM}$, DUR program. Among 38,451 claims analyzed in the study, 74.7% had more than one conflicts in the 5 DUR modules. Among 16,472 patients analyzed, 49.6% had conflicts with duplication criteria composing of ingredient duplication (23.3%) and therapeutic class duplication (39.6%). Incorrect dosages were found in 73.6% of patients and under-dosage conflicts accounted for 59.9%, which was higher than over-dosage conflicts (38.3%). In this study, inappropriate drug prescriptions such as under-dose, pediatric contraindication and therapeutic duplication were prevalent in pediatric outpatient settings, suggesting much more awareness to the society, to prevent drug related problems in a vulnerable pediatric group.

  • Wooden cultural heritages have many factors of fires and structural characteristics vulnerable to the fire extinguishing. Also, they are surrounded with forests and so remote from fire stations, which make it difficult to handle it quickly when fires break out. Wooden cultural heritages made of wood materials belong to the general fire in a Class A. Taking characteristics such as a smoldering and a backfire from the that fire of wooden materials into consideration, extinguishing the fire by the cooling system is the most effective. If the fire can't be put out at the early stage, it is almost impossible to protect wooden cultural heritages from the fire, because wooden structures can be destroyed in a high temperature and in a short time and it takes around average 7 minutes to reach its peak of flames in the process of a fire. According to the geographical and environmental situation of the cultural heritages, currently, the fire-prevention facilities such as the auto fire detector for the prompt detection, the water mist fire suppression system for the 1st early and urgent fire suppression and the outdoor fire hydrant and the water curtain etc. for the 2nd full-scale suppression and the prevention of the fire gaining force are being installed for the wooden cultural heritages.

  • Earthquake resilience of substations is essential for reliable and sustainable service of electrical grids. The majority of substation equipment consists of cylindrical porcelain components, which are vulnerable to earthquake shakings due to the brittleness of porcelain material. Failure of porcelain equipment has been repeatedly observed in recent earthquakes. Hence, proper seismic modelling of porcelain equipment is important for various limit state checks in both product manufacturing stage and detailed substation design stage. Sheds on porcelain core and cemented joint between porcelain component and metal cap have significant effects on the dynamic properties of the equipment, however, such effects have not been adequately parameterized in existing design guidelines. This paper addresses this critical issue by developing a method for taking these two effects into account in seismic modelling based on numerical and analytical approaches. Equations for estimating the effects of sheds and cemented joint on flexural stiffness are derived, respectively, by regression analyses based on the results of 12 pieces of full-scale equipment in 500kV class or higher. The proposed modelling technique has further been validated by shaking table tests.

  • In this paper, a novel packet scheduling algorithm, so-called the CSL algorithm is discussed, whereby the firewall property as well as the deterministic delay bound guarantee are supported in session level. Lots of simulation studies validate those properties of the CSL algorithm. The CSL algorithm is distingushable from the well- known EDD scheme in terms of the firewall property. Regarding the implementation complexity, the CSL algorithm turns out to be of 0(1) besides the sorting overhead. Owing to the maintained generic fair queueing structure in the CSL algorithm, a various fair queueing schemes can be applied with minor modification. For the TCP/IP network which is vulnerable to the misbehaving traffic sources, the firewall property of the CSL algorithm is quite useful for the advanced quality of services.
