Damages from typhoon events have contributed more than 60 percent of total economic and social loss and the size of loss have been increased up to 800 million dollars per year in Korea, It is therefore necessary to make an effort to mitigate the loss of natural disasters. To facilitate the evaluation of damages in advance and to support the decision making to recover the damages, scientific methods have been adopted. With the effort, GIS data can provide various tools. Three components of hazard mapping are estimation of hazard, inventory for vulnerable features, and fragility of each feature. Vulnerability of natural disaster can be obtained by relation between loss and meteorological data such as precipitation and wind speed. Features can be categorized from other GIS data of public facilities and private properties, and then social and economic loss can be estimated. At this point, GIS data conversions for each model are required. In this study, we build a method to estimate typhoon risk based on GIS data such as DEM, land cover and land use map, facilities.

Web application services have diversified. At the same time, research on intrusion detection is continuing due to the surge of cyber threats. Also, As a single-defense system evolves into multi-level security, we are responding to specific intrusions by correlating security events that have become vast. However, it is difficult to check the OS, service, web application type and version of the target system in real time, and intrusion detection events occurring in network-based security devices can not confirm vulnerability of the target system and success of the attack A blind spot can occur for threats that are not analyzed for problems and associativity. In this paper, we propose the validation of effectiveness for intrusion detection events using TF-IDF. The proposed scheme extracts the response traffics by mapping the response of the target system corresponding to the attack. Then, Response traffics are divided into lines and weights each line with an TF-IDF weight. we checked the valid intrusion detection events by sequentially examining the lines with high weights.
Climate change can impact hydrologic processes of a watershed system. The integrated modeling systems need to be built to predict and analyze the possible impacts of climate change on water environment for the optimal water resource operation and management. In this study, Namgang Dam watershed in the Nakdong River basin was selected as a study area. To evaluate the vulnerability of Namgang Dam watershed caused by climate change, the change in hydrologic runoff were predicted using the watershed model, SWAT. The RCM scenario was analyzed and downscaled using the artificial neural network and the dynamic quantile mapping. The results of this study will be utilized for suggesting an effective counterplan for climate change, and finally to propose the optimal water resource management method.
A seismic hazard map based on spatial analysis of various sources of geologic seismic information was developed and assessed for regional seismic vulnerability in South Korea. The indicators for assessment were selected in consideration of the geological characteristics affecting the seismic damage. Probabilistic seismic hazard and fault information were used to be associated with the seismic activity hazard and bedrock depth related with the seismic damage hazard was also included. Each indicator was constructed of spatial information using GIS and geostatistical techniques such as ordinary kriging, line density mapping and simple kriging with local varying means. Three spatial information constructed were integrated by assigning weights according to the research purpose, data resolution and accuracy. In the case of probabilistic seismic hazard and fault line density, since the data uncertainty was relatively high, only the trend was intended to be reflected firstly. Finally, the seismic activity hazard was calculated and then integrated with the bedrock depth distribution as seismic damage hazard indicator. As a result, a seismic hazard map was proposed based on the analysis of three spatial data and the southeast and northwest regions of South Korea were assessed as having high seismic hazard. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data for constructing seismic risk management systems to minimize earthquake disasters.
The landslide disaster damage has been increased by mountain development, leading to construction of educational facilities, medical facilities, petty industrial facilities, and large housing complexes. Therefore, effective regulation is required as an effort in urban planning solutions. For suggesting specific mitigation strategies on urban landslide, this study aims to define evaluation criteria for urban planning management of debris-flow disaster. AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), one of the multiple criterion decision making methods, was utilized in this study. This study makes use of 16 sub-criteria under the framework of hazard, exposure, and vulnerability, and well-planned expert survey measures their weights. The weights are also applied to evaluate each grid in urban space (min $10{\times}10m$) and classify it with red, orange, yellow, or green grade so that areas at higher risk are clearly identified. This study concludes that the suggested method is useful to support a strategies for urban planning management of debris-flow disaster, particularly in a GIS base.
In the entire process of disaster management, it is very significant to construct related information as well as perform quantitative assessment of damage losses with respect to minimizing the effect of disasters. Many countries have paid much attention not only to studying risk assessment methodologies including constructing inventories, hazard mapping, vulnerability assessment and direct/indirect damage loss estimation, but also to developing risk analysis tools investigated in this paper. We conducted comparison studies of representative earthquake damage risk analysis tools, and the result of this study is able to provide useful information to decision makers and researchers who can contribute to development of effective disaster management.
The aim is to analysis landslide vulnerability in Inje, Korea, using GCI(Geospatial Correlative Integration) and probability rainfalls based on geographic information system (GIS). In order to achieve this goal, identified indicators influencing landslides based on literature review. We include indicators of exposure to climate(rainfall probability), sensitivity(slope, aspect, curvature, geology, topography, soil drainage, soil material, soil thickness and soil texture) and adaptive capacity(timber diameter, timber type, timber density and timber age). All data were collected, processed, and compiled in a spatial database using GIS. Karisan-ri that had experienced 470 landslides by Typhoon Ewinia in 2006 was selected for analysis and verification. The 50% of landslide data were randomly selected to use as training data, while the other 50% being used for verification. The probability of landslides for target years (1 year, 3 years, 10 years, 50 years, and 100 years) was calculated assuming that landslides are triggered by 3-day cumulative rainfalls of 449 mm. Results show that number of slope has comparatively strong influence on landslide damage. And inclination of $25{\sim}30^{\circ}C$, the highest correlation landslide. Improved previous landslide vulnerability methodology by adopting GCI. Also, vulnerability map provides meaningful information for decision makers regarding priority areas for implementing landslide mitigation policies.
