음식물쓰레기의 세척이 호기성 퇴비화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Washing of Food Wastes on Aerobic Composting)

  • This study was performed to estimate the effects of washing of food wastes on temperature, pH, weight and volume reduction and salinity in aerobic composting of food wastes. Weight ratios of food wastes to water in washing were 1:0(Control), 1:1 (W-1), 1:2(W-2), 1:3(W-3) and :4(W-4), respectively. Ratios of food wastes to wood chips in reactor of Control, W-1, W-2, W-3 and W-4 were 5 kg:5 1, respectively. Reactors were operated for 24 days with 1 hour stirring by 1 rpm and 2 hours aeration per day. The increase in the ratio of food wastes to water used in washing resulted in the decrease of the highest reaction temperature and the elongation of the high temperature reaction period. The lowering of the ratio of food wastes to water used in washing resulted in faster pH increase and the steady state in the weight reduction rate and the volume reduction rate of composts. The final salinities of Control, W-1, W-2, W-3 and W-4 were 0.95%, 0.73%, 0.65%, 0.57% and 0.41%, respectively.

취반시 쌀씻는 물의 양과 발생한 뜨물의 구성 및 처리비용분석 (Total Waste Water at Rice Washing for Rice Cooking, its Composition and Cost Analysis)

  • Washing water volume of rice for cooking and rice weight for one person per meal in one household were surveyed for confirming pollution by the washing water and total losses by rice washing procedures. The mean size of a family was 4.64 persons and the mean consumption weight of rice per capital per meal was 138.43g. It is used 0.782 L of water for washing the rice per capital share. The washing water of rice was composed of 0.32% of total solid, 0.11% of soluble solid and 1.65% of solid loss to rice, and COD and BOD of it were 2.400 and 3.564 ppm respectively. Based on total population in Korea, 41 miliion, excepting age below 4, total cost for washing water of rice summed up about 1,495 billion won including 8.8 billion won for tap water cost, 11.7 billion won for waste water treatment, and 129 billion for solid loss of rice.

여과지 표면역세척 공정의 효율개선 (Improvement of Efficiency in Surface Washing of Granular Filters)

  • Backwashing is an important process for the efficient operation of granular filters, and the efficiency of the surface washing among the backwashing processes can affect the filtrations rate and filter run-time. In this study, the efficiency of surface washing is evaluated using real filters for three cases: with surface washing (with and without drainage of water to the surface of filter bed) and without surface washing. As a result, in the case of adopting both the drainage and surface washing, the filter of which condition is initially worse than those of the other filters shows improvement in head-loss development, filtration velocity, filter run-time, and total filtration volume. On the other hand, the conventional method of surface washing rarely has an effect on the filter washing.

페놀레진으로부터 유도된 탄소질 수분 흡수제의 특성 (The Properties of Carbonaceous Desiccant Derived from Phenolic Resin)

  • 본 연구에서는 페놀레진으로 부터 유도된 탄소질 수분 흡착제의 질소흡착, 표면 특성 및 수분 흡착량을 통하에 물리화학적인 특성을 제시하였다. 탄소질 수분 흡착제의 질소흡착에 관한 연구로부터 각각의 시료에 대하여 Type II의 흡착등온곡선을 얻었다. 이들 시료에 대한 흡착량은 물을 사용하여 세척한 후에 감소함을 나타내었다. BET식을 사용하여 계산된 $S_{BET}$값은 수세 전에 $648.7m^2/g$를 나타내었고, 수세 후에 $189.3m^2/g$를 나타내었다. SEM 모폴로지의 결과로부터 탄소질 수분 흡착제의 표면구조는 수세 전에 침상구조의 성상을 보였고, 수세 후에는 구형입자의 성상을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 최종적으로 수분흡착 효과를 측정한 결과, 수분 흡착량은 25-63%의 흡착량을 나타내었다. 또한 이들의 효과는 낮은 상대습도에서도 좋은 특성을 보였다.

Camelina oil transesterification using mixed catalyst of tetra methyl amonium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide on the tubular reactor

  • The analysis of reaction kinetics provided that the reaction order was the $1^{st}$ of triglyceride and the rate constant was 0.067 $min^{-1}$. The transesterification of camelina oil using 0.6 wt% mixed catalyst which consists of 40 v/v% of potassium hydroxide (1 wt%) and 60 v/v% of tetra methyl ammonium hydroxide (0.8 wt%), was carried out at $65^{\circ}C$ on the tubular reactor packed with static mixer. The conversion was shown to be 95.5% at the 6:1 molar ratio of methanol to oil, flow rate of feed of 3.0 mL/min and 24 of element of static mixer. The volume of washing water emitted by 0.6 wt% mixed catalyst was the half of the volume emitted by 1 wt% potassium hydroxide.

  • For the fast dry of the aqueous tape, the process which water was reaplaced by organic solvent was proposed. Socalled, it was the solvent washing dry. Three organic solvents (methanol, ethanol and acetone) were selected for the washing solvent. The weight loss of the washed tapes was measured to evaluate the dry rate of the tapes and dried tapes were examined the generation of the cracks with the variations of the organic solvent and the washing time. Methanol, ethanol and acetone were available organic solvents for this method. The tapes washed in methanol, ethanol and acetone were dried rapidly for twenty minutes. After thirty minutes, the weight losses were not found any more, The solvent of the lower surface tension can decreases the crack of dried tape. If solvent substitutes water completely, though it was fast dried, crack can be eliminated.

Characteristics of Torrefaction with Water Hyacinth

  • Purpose: This study explored the factors influencing heating value in the process of torrefaction of water hyacinth. Methods: Torrefaction was applied with three temperature settings (200, 300, $400^{\circ}C$) and three time settings (1, 2, 3 h) using small electric heaters (11.3L of holding volume). This study investigated the heating values with the washing process and process factors influenced the torrefaction. In addition, this study compared the heating values in washed and unwashed samples and suggested the optimal conditions for increasing heating value. Results: Torrefaction increased the heating value by 8.18 ~ 30.04%. Comparing heating values of each condition, the optimal temperature for torrefaction was $300^{\circ}C$ and holding time was 1 hour. The washing process increased the heating value by 19 ~ 27%. The heating value of the sample treated at $300^{\circ}C$ for three hours was 4310.80 kcal/kg, which was greater than the first class wood pellet of 4300 kcal/kg. Conclusions: This study proved that the torrefaction and washing process increased the heating value of water hyacinth. Therefore, water hyacinth is expected to be an eco-friendly biomass which substitutes for wood pellet.

세탁조건에 따른 폴리에스터/스판덱스 편성물의 형태안정성과 역학적 특성 변화 (Effect of Washing Conditions on Dimensional Change and Mechanical Properties in Polyester/Spandex Knit Fabric)

  • This study comparatively analyzed the changes in the dimensional stability and the mechanical properties of stretch knit fabrics associated with washings conditions in order to determine the most appropriate washing method. Polyester and spandex knit fabrics were washed 25 cycles with nine washing condition profiles that controled detergent, hardness. temperature and RPM. The knit fabrics with repeated washings were evaluated by dimensional stability and measured by the KES-FB system. Polyester and spandex fibers have good chemical resistance. However, the changes in the dimensional stability and the mechanical properties were observed in washed knit fabrics. After repeated washings, the knit fabrics washed in an alkali or neutral detergent had good dimensional stability compared with the knit fabric washed in functional detergent. The washed knit fabrics were extended, stiff, rough, and had a smaller volume. The changes were the result of the rearrange of polyester fibers which twisted around spandex core and chemical interactions involving the detergent and the physical and mechanical forces of washing. Especially, using an alkali detergent resulted in increased stiffness and roughness of the knit fabric. In conclusion, the washing in water with low hardness and a neutral detergent can minimize the changes in dimensional stability and mechanical properties of polyester and spandex knit fabric.

전기 제강로 분진(EAFD)으로부터 알칼리 금속 및 염화물 제거를 위한 수 세척 공정 운영인자 조사 (Investigation of Water-Washing Process Parameters for Removal of Alkali Metals and Chlorides from Electric Arc Furnace Dust (EAFD))

  • 본 연구에서는 전기 제강로 분진(EAFD)으로부터 고 순도의 아연회수를 위한 산 습식법 중 알칼리 금속 및 염화물(Na, K, Cl) 제거를 위한 적정 수 세척공정의 운영조건에 대해 조사하였다. 서로 다른 성상을 가지는 두 종류의 EAFD 시료를 대상으로 원소분석, XRD, 입도 분석 등의 물리화학적 특성을 분석하였고, 세척액의 pH, 세척시간, 고액비(mL/g) 및 세척반복횟수 등에 따른 알칼리 금속 및 염화물의 세척효율(%)을 비교하였다. 연구 결과, EAFD 내 알칼리 금속과 염화물은 고액비 3, 세척시간>30, pH 10~11의 조건에서 아연과 철의 손실을 최소화하면서(<~0.1%) 효과적으로 제거할 수 있었으며, 1회 세척시 Na-78%, K-76%, Cl >99%의 세척효율을 보였다. Na와 K는 3회 반복 세척 시 각각 97%, 89%까지 제거 가능하였다. 두 종류의 EAFD 혼합(1:1)시료를 대상으로 시료 용량을 늘려(10배) 수행한 실험 결과에서도 세척액의 최종 pH 10~11에서 Zn의 손실 없이 Na, K, Cl 등을 효과적으로 제거 가능함을 확인하였다.

원자력발전소 토양에 대한 파일롯 규모 토양세척기술 실증 (Verification of Pilot Scale Soil Washing Equipment on Nuclear Power Plant Soil)

  • 원전의 정상운전이나 해체시 발생될 수 있는 토양의 제염을 위한 토양제염장치를 개발하였으며 실증 실험을 수행하였다. 제염장치를 이용한 제염실험을 종합해본 결과 제염조건에 큰 상관없이 $80{\%}$이상의 제염율을 얻을 수 있었다. 방사능 준위 및 토양입도에 의한 실험결과를 보면 낮은 방사능 농도 및 고입도의 제염율이 다소 높음을 알 수 있었다. 제염용액과 토양질량의 비에 따른 제염율은 제염제 부피를 두배로 높였을 경우 방사능 농도가 높은 경우에 큰 것으로 나타났다. 반복 제염은 $0.5{\sim}2.0mm$의 다소 작은 입자에 더욱 효과적으로, 제염이 어려운 작은 입자의 반복제염시 방사능 저감 효과가 비교적 크게 나타났다. 본 오염토양 제염장치를 활용하면 원전에서 발생되는 오염토양의 방사능 농도를 줄일 뿐 아니라 처분양을 줄여 저장공간의 확보에 기여할 뿐만 아니라 향후 원전의 해체시에도 유용하게 활용될 수 있으리라 생각된다.
