The goal of this paper is improvement of vision inspection accuracy by using histogram specification operation. The histogram is composed of horizontal axis of image intensity value and vertical axis of pixel number in image. In appearance vision inspection, the histogram of reference image and input image are different because of minutely lighting distinction. The minutely lighting distinction is main reason of vision inspection error in many cases. Therefore we made an effort for elevation of vision inspection accuracy by making the identical histogram of reference image and input image. As a result of this area separation histogram specification algorithm, we could increase the exactness of vision inspection and prevent system error from physical and spirit condition of human. Also this system has been developed only using PC, CCD Camera and Visual C++ for universal workplace.

We constructed 3-D images by HMD (Head Mount Display) type and polarization technique through which a training instrument of binocular function based on clinical vision therapy was developed and investigated its demand. To design the instrument that performs Test- Diagnosis - (Prescription) - Training - Treatment we provided a customized training method for the trainers using optical IT instruments of binocular test. Through the contents and the instruments of the vision therapy technology developed in this work we can replace the current vision test instruments to those costing 60% lower price in eye clinics and eye glasses shops. By replacing the existing vision test instruments it is possible to create a new market of the vision therapy in vision training instruments.

Machine vision is a technology that helps the computer as if a person recognizes and determines things. In recent years, as advanced technologies such as optical systems, artificial intelligence and big data advanced in conventional machine vision system became more accurate quality inspection and it increases the manufacturing efficiency. In machine vision systems using deep learning, the image quality of the input image is very important. However, most images obtained in the industrial field for quality inspection typically contain noise. This noise is a major factor in the performance of the machine vision system. Therefore, in order to improve the performance of the machine vision system, it is necessary to eliminate the noise of the image. There are lots of research being done to remove noise from the image. In this paper, we propose an autoencoder based machine vision system to eliminate noise in the image. Through experiment proposed model showed better performance compared to the basic autoencoder model in denoising and image reconstruction capability for MNIST and fashion MNIST data sets.
Many computer vision algorithms are computationally expensive and require a lot of computing resources. Recently, owing to machine learning technology and high-performance embedded systems, vision processing applications, such as object detection, face recognition, and visual inspection, are widely used. However, on-devices need to use their resources to handle powerful vision works with low power consumption in heterogeneous environments. Consequently, global manufacturers are trying to lock many developers into their ecosystem, providing integrated low-power chips and dedicated vision libraries. Khronos Group-an international standard organization-has released the OpenVX standard for high-performance/low-power vision processing in heterogeneous on-device systems. This paper describes vision libraries for the embedded systems and presents the OpenVX standard along with related trends for on-device vision system.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess vision-related quality of life and modes of refractive error correction. We administered NEI-VFQ (National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire) to 137 subjects in two modes of refractive error correction: spectacles and contact lens wearers. The NEL-VFQ was developed to assess vision-related quality of life with respect to 1) visual symptoms 2) social function as well as difficulty with tasks and symptoms 3) economic issues and health concerns 4) psychological well-being. The NEL-VFQ was translated from English into Korean. Methods: All data were analyzed using SAS 8.0. Student's T-test was conducted to determine significant differences in each of the subscale (${\alpha}=0.05$). Result: The Peripheral Vision subscale score ($mean{\pm}SD$) was $52.2{\pm}32.7$ for the spectacle wearers, $88.6{\pm}18.1$ for contact lens wearers; the spectacle wearers' Peripheral Vision score was significantly lower than contact lens wearers (p=0.0001). There were also significant differences between two groups detected in Color Vision (p=0.001), General Vision (p=0.01) and Health Perception (p=0.01). Conclusion: Contact lens wearers and spectacle wearers were mostly high vision-related quality of life except General Vision and Health Perception. Especially, contact lens wearers were higher vision-related quality of life than spectacle wearers. Further studies on developing of good quality of contact lens will be needed to improve quality of life in ametropia.
Purpose: The study tried to figure out accommodative changes by measuring accommodative response, appearing on the full vision correction and low vision correction, with both eyes open-view auto-refractometer (Nvision-K5001, Shin-nippon, Japan). Methods: It carried out objective and subjective refractions, targeting 79 college students (58 males and 21 females) aged between 20 and 30($21.14{\pm}2.00$), by measuring accommodative changes with fixation distance at 1.0 m for eyesight of 1.0 after full version correction. The distances of 5.0 m, 1.0 m, 0.50 m, 0.33 m and 0.25 m for eyesight of 0.8, 0.7 and 0.6 after low vision correction arbitrarily added plus lens were applied. Results: the shorter measure fixation distances were, the greater changes accommodative response showed a tendency in the state of both full vision correction and low vision correction(0.7). The state of full vision correction showed a greater change of accommodative response than that of low vision correction(0.7). Both right and left eyes showed low accommodative responses in the state of low vision correction(0.7) than that of full vision correction. As a result of analyzing accommodative response at an eyesight of 0.8, 0.7, and 0.6 after low vision correction, the poorer eyesight was the lower accommodative response. Conclusions: Low vision correction from a near distance is expected to avoid unnecessary accommodative response, make eyes relaxed and prevent accommodative function disorder.
This study was conducted to find out effect of dynamic balance performance in normal adult when obscuring vision in half of the both eye and to prepare the basic data treatment of brain damage patient with visual field deficit. The subject for this study included 40 healthy right-handed and 20 left-handed were dynamic balance performance when obscuring vision in half of the both eye. who age from 20 to 30 years in normal adult without neurosurgical orthopedic, performance balance disability or other medical disorders. Of these individuals 20 right-handed and 20 left-handed were executed dynamic balance performance when obscuring vision in half of the both eye. individuals of right, left-handed were executed dynamic performance when obscuring vision in half of the both eye measure with a Balance Performance Monitor (BPM) Data print Software Version 5.3. In other to determine the statitsical significance of the result, instrumentation was used to t-test, chisquare of the SAS(Strategic Application Software) The result of the study were that: 1) Significant differences in LOS were found right-handed and left-handed subject when dynamic performance without obscuring vision and obscuring vision(p<0.05). 2) Significant differences in LOS were founded left-handed when dynamic performance were executed obscuring vision and without obscuring vision(p<0.05). 3) Significant differences in LOS were founded right-handed when dynamic performance were executed obscuring vision and without obscuring vision(p<0.05).

Background: Red ginseng has been found to improve ocular perfusion and dry eye syndrome in glaucomatous eyes; however, its effects on visual function and vision-related quality of life have not been investigated. This study sought to evaluate the effects of red ginseng on visual function and vision-related quality of life in glaucoma patients using contrast sensitivity and a questionnaire. Methods: Participants were randomly assigned to two groups in this prospective, randomized, double-blind study: in one group, red ginseng was taken first, followed by a placebo, and in the other, placebo was taken first, followed by red ginseng. We measured and compared changes in contrast sensitivity and vision-related quality of life between the two groups. Contrast sensitivity was measured using OPTEC® 6500P, and vision-related quality of life was evaluated using the 25-item National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire. One-way and two-way repeated measure analyses of variance were used for the comparison. Relationships between respective changes in dry eye syndrome and contrast sensitivity were also analyzed. Results: Daytime contrast sensitivity and ocular pain improved after the administration of red ginseng. Nighttime contrast sensitivity was improved in early or moderate glaucoma. Improved contrast sensitivity was not associated with improvement in dry eye syndrome. Conclusion: Red ginseng could improve contrast sensitivity and ocular pain in patients with glaucoma. The mechanism underlying improvement in contrast sensitivity appears to be associated with enhanced retinal perfusion or retinal ganglion cell function, but not dry eye syndrome.
Purpose: In order to aggregate effect of the improvement of binocular vision function by vision therapy, total mean effect size, mean effect size by dependent variables, and effect size by characteristics of the subjects and characteristics of treatment were analyzed by meta-analysis. Methods: We analyzed data from 14 Korean National primary studies, which reported effects of vision therapy programs, using meta-analysis. Results: The effect size of total mean was 1.207, which showed high effect. The mean effect size according to the subcategory of the binocular dysfunctions was the highest for vergence dysfunctions group (2.989), followed by accommodative dysfunctions group (0.868) and group with both vergence dysfunctions and accommodative dysfunctions (0.692). The effect size according to the characteristics of the subjects was the highest in the vision therapy conducted in the binocular dysfunctions group (2.509) that had no other dysfunctions. The mean effect size according to the number of programs was the highest (2.310) for 7 times a week. Vision therapy for improving the binocular functions was the most effective (2.019) in 8 weeks later from vision therapy start. Conclusions: It can prove that the therapy for the improvement of binocular vision function is effective through that each result of the vision therapy effect is converted to mean effect size, and being objectifying the mean effect size.
A computer vision system to measure low flow rate of solid particles was developed and tested to examine its performance with various sized 7 kinds of seeds, perilla, mung bean, paddy, small red bean, black soybean, Cuba bean and small potato tuber. The test was performed for two types of particle flow, continuous and discontinuous. For the continuous flow tested with perilla, mung bean and paddy, the tests resulted correlation coefficients for the flow rates measured by the computer vision and direct method about 0.98. Average errors of the computer vision measurement were in a range of 6∼9%. For the discontinuous flow tested with small red bean, black soybean, Cuba bean and small potato tuber, the tests resulted correlation coefficients for the flow rates measured by the computer vision and direct method 0.98∼0.99. Average errors of the computer vision measurement were in a range of 5∼10%. Performance of the computer vision system was compared with that of the conventional optical sensor to count particles in discontinuous flow. The comparison was done with black soybean, Cuba bean and small potato tuber, and resulted that the computer vision has much better performance than the optical sensor in a sense of precision of the measurement.
