  • This study was aimed to minimize the impact force and vibration transmitted to the transporting materials from the trailer and wheel shaft by installing the leaf spring suspension device at the space between the wheel shaft and frame of power tiller trailer. The developed trailer equipped with leaf spring suspension device was compared to the existing trailer without suspension device, in order to identify the vibration absorption effect of the leaf spring. The results of this study could be summarized as follows; (1) The length and the maximum bending amount of the leaf spring were designed as 1,000 mm and 42 mm, respectively, considering the possible space for installing at below the trailer. When 4 leaf springs were installed on both wheel shafts, the allowable maximum load was identified as 9,418 N. (2) The average vibration accelerations for the frequency less than 20 Hz, where the severe transporting loss could be represented, were $0.017\;m/s^2$ and $0.133\;m/s^2$ for the developed and the existing trailer, respectively, showing the vibration absorption effect of about 87%. And the average vibration accelerations on the driver's seat for the frequency less than 20 Hz were $0.01\;m/s^2$ and $0.20\;m/s^2$ for the developed and the existing trailer, respectively, which showed the similar vibration absorption effect. (3) The change of the average vibration accelerations for the frequency from 20 Hz to 80 Hz showed the similar tendency with the result for the frequency less than 20 Hz, but the effect for developed trailer was reduced slightly. And the effect of vibration absorption for the above 80 Hz was reduced highly. However, by installing the leaf spring suspension device at the trailer, the low frequency below 40 Hz, which could affect on transporting loss severely, could be reduced highly. (4) The maximum vibration acceleration for the frequency less than 20 Hz were $0.027\;m/s^2$ and $1.267\;m/s^2$ for the developed and the existing trailer, respectively. And the change of maximum acceleration between 20 Hz and 120 Hz was showed similar tendency with the result for the frequency less than 20 Hz, but the width of change was reduced highly.

  • Vibration caused by railroad vehicle including subway train running raises a lot of problems to the neighboring buildings. Therefore lots of methods to isolate the railway vibration have been studied and practically applied to sites. As one of them, specially designed vibration isolation device was installed in the some section of Seoul subway. This device is installed between the rail and track slab. Because the process of installation is relatively simple, this method can be applied to the existing railways in servicing. We measured the vibration and noise to check the effectiveness of this device before and after the installation. The result showed that the vibration level of the slab and platform was reduced to 7 - 10 dB. Expecially high frequency component was reduced to a large amount. From this result, we can conclude that these kind of devices are useful to the reduction of the railroad vibration, expecially the high frequency vibration which can cause structure born noise.

  • This paper deals with noise reduction on a light source driving board in a projector. We analyze causes of noise/vibration in the circuit with the present increasing use of LD and LED driving boards. The main source of noise is the MLCC in the driving board. Our aim is to investigate how the mechanical arrangement of the circuit elements affects noise reduction. The result of our experiment shows that noise can be reduced by symmetrical arrangement and slots in PCB. This result is expected to facilitate a variety of applications for manufactures without a need to change circuit elements.

  • The kinematic characteristics of cutting device significantly affects cutting performance in 2-dimensional elliptical vibration cutting(EVC) where the cutting tool cuts workpiece, traversing a micro-scale elliptical trajectory in a trochoidal motion. In this study, kinematical characteristics of EVC device constructed with two parallel stacked piezoelectric actuators were analytically modeled and compared with the experimental results. The EVC device was subjected to step and low-frequency(0.1 Hz) sinusoidal inputs to reveal only its kinematical displacement characteristics. Hysteresis in the motion of the device was observed in the thrust direction and distinctive skew of the major axis of the elliptical trajectory of the cutting tool was also noticed. Discrepancy in the voltage-to-displacement characteristics of the piezoelectric actuators was found to largely contribute to the skew of the major axis of the elliptical trajectory of the cutting tool. Analytical kinematical model predicted the cutting direction displacement within 10 % error in magnitude with no phase error, but in estimating the thrust direction displacement, it showed a $27^{\circ}$ of phase-lag compared with the measured displacement with no magnitude error.

  • A Gimbal structure system in observation reconnaissance aircraft is made up of camera module and stabilization drive device supporting camera module. During flight for image recording, the aircraft undergoes serious accelerations with wide frequencies due to several factors. Though base excitation of stabilization drive device induces vibration of camera module, it must get the stable and clean images. To achieve this aim, acceleration of camera module must be reduced. Hence, vibration isolators were installed to stabilization drive device. Considering isolators and bearings in the stabilization drive device, vibration characteristics of gimbal structure system were analyzed by finite element method. For three translational direction, acceleration transmissibility of camera module was calculated by harmonic responses analysis in the frequency range of 5 ~ 500 Hz. In addition to, sine-sweep experiment were performed to prove correctness of present analysis.

  • The purpose of this paper was to identify the mechanism that caused abnormal vibration and noise on the piping system connected to discharge flow of BFP(Boiler Feed water Pump) in a coal fired power plant, and to develop the device that can reduce the level of abnormal vibration and noise. Major results of this project can be summarized as follows: First, we analyzed the acoustic mode for the discharge piping of BFP to trace a path of the noise, and assumed that noise and vibration on the piping system can be related with length of pipe. Second, a minimized model of the piping system was set up to simulate abnormal vibration and noise within the specific range of operating frequencies, and as a result we confirmed that the acoustic mode affected the piping system considerably. Finally the test device which can reduce the level of abnormal noise and vibration was built to verify validity applying for the piping system. Then we concluded that the noise and vibration generated from the piping system was attributed to the acoustic resonance in piping system, and so developed new device which can reduce the level of noise and vibration under 40%. • In this paper, a new haptic device is proposed for the teleoperation, which can recognize the invisible environment of a mobile robot. With this new device, it is possible for the user to identify the location of an obstacle and to avoid it. The haptic device has been attached on the top of a joystick so that the user can remotely control the mobile robot to avoid the obstacles which are recognized by the ultrasonic sensors. Also, the invisible environment is recognized more accurately overlapping the data from the ultrasonic sensors. There are five vibration motors in the haptic device to indicate the direction of the obstacle. So the direction of the obstacle can be recognized by the vibration at the finger on each vibration motor. For various situations and surrounding environments, experiments are performed using fuzzy controller and overlapping ultrasonic sensors. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed haptic joystick.

  • This study was carried out vibration attenuation of vibration absorber attached to the cantilever beam structure. Modern tank guns are stabilized to allow fire on the move while traversing uneven terrain. However, as the length of the barrel is extended, to meet required muzzle exit velocities, the terrain induced vibrations lead to increased muzzle pointing errors. Thus, reducing these vibrations should lead to increased accuracy. The vibration absorber includes a compliant energy storage device, such as a spring, and a mass secured to the energy storage device. In this study, it accomplished a research in about gun barrel vibration attenuation using tuned mass damper. The barrel was hung from a bungee cord for free - free condition. It accomplished a vibration experiment for verified attenuation efficiency.
