  • A noncontact optical system that can measure displacement or vibration of an object is designed by employing the oblique ray method. By using a single convex lens which serves as both the input and output lenses, we made the optical system very compact and reliable. In addition, the bandwidth of the vibration measurement is more than 100 KHz by using the position-sensitive detector as the beam position sensor. The resolution and capture range of the system are $\pm$1 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 1100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, respectively. As a sample test, the vibrations of a speaker and a rotating compact disc surface were measured.

  • In this paper, analysis of the vibration Characteristic for the Mine Detectable Test Platform is described. The test platform system is the multi-sensor mine detectable vehicle. This multi-sensor mine detectable unit is more efficient detection performance than other conventional methods. The test platform system has five subsystems, the UWB(Ultra Wide Band) sensor scanner, the MD(Metal Detector) sensor scanner, the neutron sensor scanner, and the detectable vehicle. We perform the vibration tests for the test platform and analyze the vibration characteristic, such as the max displacement, the max deformation and the max Von-Misses Stress.

  • ATM(Automated-feller Machine) is a machine that receives and pays money directly. The double bill detector (DBD) module of an ATM detects double bill from its thickness. In this paper, the dynamic behavior of the DBD was analyzed numerically and experimentally. The moment of inertia of the double bill lever and the spring constant were measured respectively. And the displacements of the ]ever was measured experimentally. The measured dynamic behaviors were simulated numerically using vector equation. Through the analysis, the design factors were found to make a fast and reliable new ATM machine.

  • This is a study on the analysis of vibration mode of a laser doppler. We measure the vibration mode of a doppler and analyze each component, and want to estimate three dimensional properties from 2-dimensional data. The vibration mode relies on a range detector that uses a distance sensor. Since the outputs are determined by the measured distance, we want to study how 3-dimensional vibration mode is generated from 2-dimensional ones. The study will include the patterns of generating a 3-dimensional vibration mode as well as the relationship between the distance and the vibration mode.

  • A novel dual beam heterodyne Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) in conjunction with FM demodulators, which utilizes a residual beam to eliminate the perturbationdue due to the vibrometer body vibration without any external reference surface, has been developed. Residual laser beam from the beam splitter is used to pick up the vibration of damper, which is mounted in the vibrometer, and combined with reference beam at the photodetector. The output signal of this detector and main signal are processed to extract the object vibration, using a least mean square adaptive algorithm. It is shown experimentally that the body vibration of 1-5 Hz can be effectively removed from the measured signal using DSP technology to extract unperturbed 100 Hz original signal.

  • The application of neutron noise analysis (NNA) to the ex-core neutron detector signal for monitoring the vibration characteristics of a reactor core support barrel (CSB) was investigated. Ex-core flux data were generated by using a nonanalog Monte Carlo neutron transport method in a simulated CSB model where the implicit capture and Russian roulette technique were utilized. First and third order beam and shell modes of CSB vibration were modeled based on parallel processing simulation. A NNA module was developed to analyze the ex-core flux data based on its time variation, normalized power spectral density, normalized cross-power spectral density, coherence, and phase differences. The data were then analyzed with a fuzzy logic module to determine the vibration characteristics. The ex-core neutron signal fluctuation was directly proportional to the CSB's vibration observed at 8Hz and15Hzin the beam mode vibration, and at 8Hz in the shell mode vibration. The coherence result between flux pairs was unity at the vibration peak frequencies. A distinct pattern of phase differences was observed for each of the vibration models. The developed fuzzy logic module demonstrated successful recognition of the vibration frequencies, modes, orders, directions, and phase differences within 0.4 ms for the beam and shell mode vibrations.

  • This paper reports on the outline and the status of the TAMA-300 project, the 300 meter laser interferometer gravitational wave detector developed by a team of scientists of several research institutes and universities in Japan. In fact the project has been funded and its construction started at the National Astronomical Observatory, Mitaka, in spring 1995. And the constructions of the tunnels for the east-west and north-south arms and of the central building are completed and a half of pipes for laser beams were brought in. Very stable laser oscillator has been almost completed and mew techniques such as vibration isolations, recycling of laser power, and suspension of mirrors by double pendulums have been developed. In fact the purposes of the project are to establish techniques necessary for future km-class detectors and to operate the detector to catch possible gravitational wave events in nearby galaxies such as Andromeda, the target sensitivity being $3 {\times} 10^{-21}$ at 300Hz.

  • KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) has measured the ozone density profiles over the Korean Peninsular since the launch of the Korean Sounding Rocket-I (KSR-I) in 1993. The purpose of ozone measurements is to obtain the stratospheric and mesospheric vertical ozone density profiles over the Korean Peninsular with solar UV radiometers. With the visible channel of the radiometer, the attitude variation of the rocket was corrected and compensated. Developed system is based on ozone detector designs onboard the KSR-I and KSR-II. We discuss the development of ozone detector which will be onboard the KSR-III and its circuit and vibration test results for EM model.

  • Reactor Noise is defined as the fluctuations of measured instrumentation signals during full-power operation of reactor which have informations on reactor system dynamics such as neutron kinetics, thermal-hydraulics, and structural dynamics. Reactor noise analyses of ex-core neutron detector signals have been performed to monitor the vibration modes of reactor internals such as fuel assembly and Core Support Barrel in Yonggwang 3&4 Nuclear Power Plant. A real time mode separation technique have been developed and applied for the analyses. It has been found that the first vibration mode frequency of the fuel assembly was around 2.5 Hz, the beam and shell mode frequencies of CSB(Core Support Barrel) 8 Hz and 14.5 Hz, respectively. Also the analyses data base have been constructed for the continuous monitoring and diagnose of the reactor internals.

  • A laser Doppler vibrometer based on the laser heterodyne interferometry is employed to measure the vibration velocity of vibrating objects. In this paper, we propose a real time analog signal processor of a laser Doppler vibrometer to reduce the degradation of Doppler signals mainly caused by environmental noises. In the proposed real time signal processor of an laser Doppler vibrometer, a pre-processor and a logical motion direction detector are designed to reduce the detection errors of the object motion direction. Also, a noise detection and rejection circuit is designed to reject the unfiltered noises.
