  • An assumed stress quadrilateral thin/moderately thick plate element HQP4 based on the Mindlin/Reissner plate theory is proposed. The formulation is based on Hellinger-Reissner variational principle. Static and free vibration analyses of plates are carried out. Numerical examples are presented to show that the validity and efficiency of the present element for static and free vibration analysis of plates. Satisfactory accuracy for thin and moderately thick plates is obtained and it is free from shear locking for thin plate analysis.

  • This study investigates stress and deformation due to static and dynamic vibration analysis about various types of bike handles installed with smart phone depositories. When force is applied on the side of handle at the models of type 1, 2, 3 and 4, the maximum equivalent stress is highest at type 2. The stress or deformation becomes lowest among these 4 model types. At vibration analysis, type 1 becomes safest within the range of 500Hz and type 3 becomes stable within the range of 100Hz. The result of this study can be applied with the design of bike handle installed with smart phone depository. The damage or deformation due to vibration can be prevented when the bike falls down. This result can be widely utilized to investigate and predict the durability.

  • A numerical analysis algorithm for thermally loaded structures has been proposed and compared with the general free vibration approach to determine the characteristics of thermal load effects in vibration structures. The field of numerical inspection includes free vibration analysis, transient heat transfer analysis and thermal stress analysis. The key point of the analysis of thermally loaded structure is the method of parallel time integration between transient heat transfer and free vibration simultaneously. The results of the study demonstrate the computation of the specific total external force vector and stiffness matrix. The proposed analysis method can be applied to both heated and cooled structure vibration analysis.

  • This paper has the object of investigating natural frequencies of tapered thick plate on pasternak foundation by means of finite element method and providing kinetic design data for mat of building structures. vibration analysis that tapered thick plate subjected to In-plane stress is presented in this paper Finite element analysis of rectangular plate is done by use of rectangular finite element with 8-nodes. In order to analysis tapered plate which is supported on pasternak foundation. The ratio of In-plane stress to critical load is varied with $0.2\sigma_{cr},\;0.4\sigma_{cr},\;0.6\sigma_{cr}$, and the Winkler parameter is 0, 10, 100, 1000 the shear foundation parameter 0, 10. The taper ratio is applied as 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 respectively. This paper is analyzed varying thickness by taper ratio with In-plane stress.

  • This paper presents a theoretical approach to describe the characteristics of vibration transmission in the waveguide with varying cross-section. The waveguide considered in this paper has a tapered section in the middle of an axisymmetric stepped rod. The distributions of the vibration displacement and stress along the waveguide were derived and they were verified by comparing the theoretically-calculated results with those obtained by the finite-element analysis. The vibration magnification and the concentrated stress under forced vibration were calculated for this rod according to the taper length. The paper established a theoretical basement of designing waveguides for maximizing the vibration transmission under minimum stress concentration.

  • This study investigates the strength durability on the results of structural and vibration analysis due to the shape of excavator wheel. As model 2 has the least stress by comparing three models with maximum equivalent stress, model 2 has most durability among three models at static analysis. Maximum equivalent stress is shown at the bottom part contacted with ground and this part on wheel is most affected by load in cases of all models. Safety factor can be decided with the value of 2.3 by considering the yield stress of this model. The range of maximum harmonic response frequencies becomes 6900 to 7000Hz. As model 2 has the least total deformation and equivalent stress at these critical frequencies, model 2 has the most durability at vibration analysis among three models. The structural and vibration analysis results in this study can be effectively utilized with the design of excavator wheel by investigating prevention and durability against its damage.

  • A comprehensive vibration assessment program for the advanced power reactor 1400(APR1400) reactor vessel internals is established in accordance with the united states nuclear regulatory commission regulatory guide 1.20 revision 3. This paper is related to instruments and measurement locations based on the vibration and stress response analysis results of the inner barrel assembly top plate in APR1400. The analysis results of the inner barrel assembly top plate in the reactor show that the deterministic stress and deformation due to the reactor coolant pump induced pressure pulsations are larger than the random stress and deformation induced by the flow turbulence. The selection of the instruments and measurement locations at inner barrel assembly top plate in the reactor is essential requirements and very important study process for the vibration and stress measurement program in comprehensive vibration assessment program for APR1400 reactor vessel internals.

  • Forced vibration analysis of a cracked functionally graded microbeam is investigated by using modified couple stress theory with damping effect. Mechanical properties of the functionally graded beam change vary along the thickness direction. The crack is modelled with a rotational spring. The Kelvin-Voigt model is considered in the damping effect. In solution of the dynamic problem, finite element method is used within Timoshenko beam theory in the time domain. Influences of the geometry and material parameters on forced vibration responses of cracked functionally graded microbeams are presented.

  • In this paper the influence of aspect ratio, height ratio and material angle on static and free vibration behaviour of orthotropic elliptic paraboloid shells is studied by using a four-node hybrid stress finite element. The formulation of the element is based on Hellinger-Reissner variational principle. The element is developed by combining a hybrid plane stress element and a hybrid plate element. A parametric study is carried out for static and free vibration response of orthotropic elliptic paraboloid shells with respect to displacements, internal forces, fundamental frequencies and mode shapes by varying the aspect and height ratios, and material angle.

  • The structural analysis of liquid rocket engine was performed in the case of sinusoidal vibration load to verify structural safety. The finite element model is composed with main liquid rocket engine components, combustion chamber, turbopump, gas-generator, pyro-starter, main pipes, main valve, heat-exchanger, gimbal-mount and brackets. Natural vibration mode analysis and structural analysis for sinusoidal vibration load were performed. The natural mode frequency of liquid rocket engine is twice than that of launch vehicle. In the case of stress result of sinusoidal vibration load, the part of maximum stress has 1.4 margin, so the engine structure is safe for sinusoidal vibration load.
