To investigate the in-situ sound velocity of sediment in the southwestern part of the East Sea, the laboratory sound velocity was measured using the pulse transmission technique. The sediment sound velocity measured in laboratory was corrected to in-situ sound velocity based on the seafloor temperature, seawater sound velocity, Kim et al. (2004) model, and Hamilton (1980) model. The distribution of the corrected in-situ sound velocity applying Kim et al. (2004) and Hamilton (1980) models reflects the characteristics of sediments of the study area and shows a similar distribution pattern. The correction for in-situ sound velocity was mostly influenced by seafloor temperature. Then, correction of sound velocity using seafloor sediment temperature data should be accomplished for conversion of laboratory data to in-situ sound velocity.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of clubhead velocity through regression analysis on the magnitude and time difference of the forward-backward, mediolateral, and vertical ground reaction peak forces generated by force plate during golf swing. Method: 16 subjects (age: 20.5±4.2 yrs, height: 176.0±5.4 cm, weight: 77.8±5.9 kg, handy: 2.4±1.7) who is elite golf player in high school and university, participated in this study. The study method adopted three-dimensional analysis with 8 cameras and ground reaction force measurement with two force plate. The analysis variables were clubhead velocity, and ground reaction analysis variables set four events in each graph based on the peak forces commonly generated in Fx, Fy, and Fz graphs of the ground reaction data during the golf swing. Results: As a result of analyzing the influence of ground reaction magnitude difference on clubhead velocity, the influence on clubhead velocity was ym4, zm1, xm4, zm2. The larger ym4, xm4, zm1, the fasterthe clubhead velocity, but the smallerthe zm2, the faster the clubhead velocity. And in time difference, the influence on the clubhead velocity was in the order of xt4, zt1, zt3. The shorter xt4, zt1, zt3 showed faster clubhead velocity. Conclusion: The leftfoot played a leading role in increasing the velocity of the clubhead. Although the result was caused by the interaction of the right foot and the left foot during the swing, the role of the left foot is relatively large.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine if auditory cues velocity has a greater effect on the gait pattern of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) than the cues applied individually. METHODS: The subjects were 15 elderly patients diagnosed with PD, 15 healthy elderly persons. Patients were measured of three conditions performed in random order: slow, general, fast. The auditory cue velocity consisted of a metronome beat ${\pm}20%$ than the subject's general gait speed. Using a motion analysis and a force platform measurement system, changes in spatiotemporal variables, kinetic and kinematic variables were compared to gait analysis. RESULTS: Comparison between the auditory cues velocity, there was a significant difference in the spatiotemporal variables with regard to the cadence, stride length, support time, step length, double support time (p<.05). Comparison between the auditory cues velocity, there was a significant increase general and fast velocity gait than slow velocity gait in the maximum flexion in swing phase of knee joint (p<.05). There appears to be the aspect of an increasing ground reaction force (GRF) on the first peak in the vertical axis (p<.05). CONCLUSION: Auditory cues velocity improved of spatio-temporal factors, kinematic and kinetic factors depending on the velocity of the faster. Therefore at the rehabilitation training of PD patients auditory cues velocity would be used for recovery and gait reeducation, may arise through the patients functional ability.

PURPOSE: The progression of the center of pressure (COP) velocity of the stance phase may have important roles for predicting gait speed in older adults with cognitive decline. This study was conducted to identify the correlation between gait speed and the velocity of COP progression during the stance phase in older adults with cognitive decline. METHODS: Forty adults aged 65 years or older (twenty participants without cognitive decline, 20 participants with cognitive decline) were recruited. The COP progression velocity was measured using an F-scan pressure-sensitive insole system. The stance phase was divided into four sub-stages. (loading response, mid-stance, terminal stance, and pre-swing). Gait speed, double support phase, and cadence were also measured. Correlations and multiple regression analyses were performed. RESULTS: Gait speed was associated with the COP progression velocity in midstance (r = .719, p < .05), cadence (r = .719, p < .05) and the COP progression velocity in loading response velocity (r = .515, p < .05) in older adults with cognitive decline. However, no correlation was found in older adults without cognitive decline. In multiple regression analysis using gait speed as a dependent variable, the COP progression velocity in midstance and cadence were significant predictors of gait speed, with the COP progression velocity being the most significant predictor. CONCLUSION: The COP progression velocity is an important factor for predicting gait speed in older adults with cognitive decline, suggesting that the cognitive function influences gait speed and the velocity of COP progression.
1. Objectives This study was carried out to investigate the equilibrium functional difference according to mean velocity of basilar artery with Sasang Constitution. 2. Methods We analyzed the data of 300 adults(194 males, 106 females), who visited oriental hospital of D university for medical examiation, which includes Sasang constitution examination, equilibrium function test, transcranial doppler ultrasonography(TCD). We evaluated the trace length and envelop area of open eyes and closed eyes, mean velocity of basilar artery and analyzed its statistical data. 3. Results and Conclusions 1) Within all subjects, trace length and envelop area of closed eyes were significantly lower, in the order of increased mean velocity of basilar artery group, normal mean velocity of basilar artery group and decreased mean velocity of basilar artery group. 2) No significantly difference was seen between the mean velocity of basilar artery and equilibrium function in Soyangin and Soeumin. 3) When closed eyes, trace length were significantly lower in order of increased mean velocity of basilar artery group, normal mean velocity of basilar artery group and decreased mean velocity of basilar artery group, in Taeeumin.

Field data obtained from marine exploration are influenced by various environmental factors such as wind, waves, tidal current and flow velocity of a background medium. Most environmental factors except for the flow velocity are properly corrected in the data processing stage. In this study, the wave equation modeling considering flow velocity is used to generate observation data, and numerical experiments using the observation data were conducted to analyze the effect of flow velocity on waveform inversion. The numerical examples include the results with unrealistic flow velocities. In addition, an algorithm is suggested to numerically extract flow velocity for waveform inversion. The proposed algorithm was applied to the modified Marmousi2 model to obtain the results depending on the flow velocity. The effect of flow velocity on updated physical properties was verified by comparing the inversion results without considering flow velocity and those obtained from the proposed algorithm.

Recently tennis techniques has been changed in stance patterns. Stance is consist of square stance, open stance and semi-open stance. The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinematics variables of racket head velocity during forehand stroke by stance patterns. Eight high school tennis players were chosen for the study who use semi western grip right-handed person more than career 7 years. They performed horizontal swing and vertical swing that it was done each five consecutive trial in the condition of square, open and semi-open stance. The results showed that racket head velocity significant difference was not observed in stance types between swings at impact. Y and Z components of racket head velocity for horizontal and vertical swing at second prior to impact and at impact were that y components velocity was faster horizontal swing than vertical swing and z components velocity was later horizontal swing than vertical swing. Statistically significant variable to racket head velocity and Pearson's correlation were drawn as follows. 1. Z components of racket head velocity in square stance was significant correlation by right knee joint. 2. Y components of racket head velocity in semiopen stance was significant correlation by left hip joint. 3. Y components of racket head velocity in open stance was significant correlation by left ankle joint.
For the elastic migation, the velocity errors between the initial velocity model and true velocity model seriously affect the migrated images. The assumption of an initial velocity model, thus, is one of the critical factor for the successful migration. In case of applying the layered earth model as an initial velocity model, the layer boundary having large velocity contrast can not be defined well with conventional traveltime calculation algolithms and we have the difficulties for expressing the characteristics of the real subsurface. Smooth Background Model (SBM) we have applied as an initial velocity model in our study is characterized to be linearly varying the velocity with the depth, which can express the velocity variation in the subsurface properly. Thus it can properly be applied to traveltime calculation algolithms such as Vidale's method. In this study, Kirchhoff operator for prestack migration was used and the absolute amplitude obtained by modeling was applied as a weighted value to consider the true amplitude for initial model. Initial velocity model for migration was determined by using stacking velocity and we applied this model to real data.
To utilize wind resources effectively around buildings in urban area, the magnitudes of wind velocity and turbulence intensity are important, which means the need of the information about the relationship between the magnitude of wind velocity and that of fluctuating wind velocity. In the paper, wind-tunnel experiments were performed to provide the information about Characteristic of Wind flow around buildings with the spanwise distance and the side ratio of buildings as variables. For a single building with the side ratios of one and two, the average velocity ratio was 1.4 and the velocity standard deviation ratio ranged from 1.4 to 2.6 at the height of 0.02m at the corner of the windward side, in which flow separation occurred. For twin buildings with the side ratios of one and two, the velocity ratio ranged from 2 to 2.5 as the spanwise distance varied at the height of 0.02m, and the velocity standard deviation ratio varied near 1.25. For twin buildings with the side ratios of one and two, the maximum velocity ratio was 1.75 at the height of 0.6m, and the maximum velocity standard deviation ratio was 2.1. It was also found from the results of CFD analysis and wind-tunnel experiments that for twin buildings with the side ratios of one and two, the difference between the velocity ratio of CFD analysis and that of wind-tunnel experiments at streamwise distances was near 0.75.
The phase-averaged velocity fields of 3 dimensional turbulent wake behind a marine propeller measured by 2D PIV and stereoscopic PIV(SPIV) were compared directly. In-plane velocity fields obtained from the consecutive particle images captured by one camera in 2D PIV have perspective errors due to out-of-plane motion. However, the perspective errors can be removed by measuring three component velocity fields using SPIV method with two cameras. It is also necessary to measure three components velocity fields for the investigation of complicated near-wake behind the propeller for the suitable propeller design. 400 instantaneous velocity fields were measured for each of four different blade phases of $0^{\circ},\;18^{\circ},\;36^{\circ}C\;and\;54^{\circ}$. They were ensemble averaged to investigate the spatial evolution of the propeller wake in the downstream region. The phase-averaged velocity fields show the viscous wake developed along the blade surfaces and tip vortices were formed periodically. The perspective errors caused by the out-of-plane motion was estimated by the comparison of 2D PIV and SPIV results. The difference in the axial mean velocity fields measured by both techniques are nearly proportional to the mean out-of-plane velocity component which has large values in the regions of the tip and trailing vortices. The axial turbulence intensity measured by 2D PIV was overestimated since the out-of-plane velocity fluctuations influence the in-plane velocity vectors and increase the in-plane turbulence intensities.
