  • We know the traffic information about the velocity and position of vehicle by extraction and tracking vehicle from continuosly obtained road image of camera. The conventional method of vehicle detection indicate increment of error due to headlight and taillight in night road image. This paper show such as vehicle detection of binary, Edge detection. amalgamation of image are applied to extract the vehicle, and Kalman filter is adaptive methods for tracking position and velocity of vehicle.

  • In this paper, we have proposed novel technique to improve maintainability for training vehicle of underwater weapon system. In case of under water weapon, the fire procedure is related with operation of expulsion system in submarines. So the submarine crews should practice the complex fire procedure of weapon system by using training vehicle, which is safer and cheaper than operational weapon. After emitted from submarine, the training vehicle rise to the surface and should be withdrawn from the sea. The recovered training vehicle is transported to maintenance depot and pass through the recycling procedure including disassembling the vehicle, data acquisition & analysis, battery charge, replacing expandable components, testing the captive equipment, and assembling the vehicle. The disassembling & assembling of training vehicle which is composed of watertight section or airframe, is time-consuming work. So in this paper, we have studied the elements of recycling procedure and propose the method to exclude the assembling & disassembling work for maintainability improvement.

  • In this study, a novel hybrid vehicle is proposed. The vehicle has a flywheel-engine hybrid system. Flywheels are more effective as energy charge systems than electric batteries in a respect of output power density. However, transmissions to effectively drive flywheels are very complex systems such as CVTs (Continuously Variable Transmissions). In the proposed hybrid vehicle, Constant Pressure System is employed, which is hydraulic power transmission. Using Constant Pressure Systems, hydraulic CVTs are easily realized with variable displacement pumps/motors. In this paper, firstly, the proposed flywheel hybrid vehicle making use of Constant Pressure System is described. Secondly, fuel consumption characteristics of the flywheel hybrid vehicle are experimentally examined with the stationary test facility, which employs a flywheel as a load emulating vehicle inertia. Finally, the experimental results and discussions are described. Fuel consumption of 26km/L is expected for 10 mode driving schedule with vehicle mass of 1500kg.

  • Obstacle avoidance algorithm is very important on an unmanned vehicle. Therefore, in this research, we propose a algorithm of obstacle avoidance and we can prove through vehicle test and sensor experiments. Obstacle avoidance must be divided into two parts: the first part includes the longitudinal control for acceleration and deceleration and the second part is the lateral control for steering control. Each system is used for unmanned vehicle control, which notes its location, recognizes obstacles surrounding it, and makes a decision how fast to proceed according to circumstances. During the operation, the control strategy of the vehicle can detect obstacles and perform obstacle avoidance on the road, which involves vehicle velocity. In this paper, we propose a method for vehicle control, modeling, and obstacle avoidance, which are confirmed through vehicle tests.

  • The periodic technical vehicle inspection is to prevent the accident through the finding and fixing the defects of the vehicle. The periodic technical vehicle inspection in Korea was studied for assessing the adequacy of the inspection frequency. The inspection frequencies of many countries including EU, USA and Japan were compared. The average mileages by the vehicle usage and type were represented. The warranty period and recommended replacement period of parts of the domestic auto makers was studied. Currently, the inspection frequency for the periodic technical vehicle inspection in Korea is appropriate. The pass-fail rate and the cost-benefit analysis for the periodic technical inspection in Korea will be needed in the decision making process for the inspection frequency.

  • The center of gravity on vehicle is a fundamentally important point for assessing and measuring the characteristics of vehicle dynamics. Especially, the center of gravity height on vehicles is the closest factor with respect to rollover accidents in a social issue nowadays. In this paper, the center of gravity height in conjunction with vehicle parameters of vehicle weight, driving axle and roof height after measured by vehicle weight and loading location by means of VCGM developed by KATRI with good performance that the accuracy was less than 0.6% and repeatability 0.3% for vehicles being used in the whole world was observed. As a result of study, the location of center of gravity height on vehicle was able to be estimated with only roof height on vehicle.

  • The customers demand of a good vehicle agility consists of a quick reaction of the vehicle with the actuation of the throttle pedal on one hand and a high comfort level of vibration and noise within the vehicle on the other hand, which means the reduction of disturbing side effects. In order to achieve a satisfactory compromise it is necessary to gain a deeper understanding of the complex, high dynamic vibrations system "vehicle / drive train". For several years the ika has been carrying out such detailed vehicle investigations and test bench measurements in addition to comprehensive CAE analysis for various research projects in partnership with different vehicle manufacturers.

  • It is difficult for most of passenger cars to attach various types of suspensions. The modular experimental vehicle, which is designed to exchange suspension systems, has been developed to evaluate the effect of design changes of a suspension upon ride and handling characteristics of a vehicle. In order to enable the assemblage between modules, the experimental vehicle design is based on a space frame construction through finite element analysis. Moreover, module frames and brackets are designed using three-dimensional solid modeler to check the interference between each part of a vehicle. Steady-state and transient road tests were performed. Multibody dynamic model and simplified linear vehicle model are made to compare with the tests. The results of simulations and tests show the performance and validity of this experimental vehicle.

  • This paper introduces three vehicle trajectory-based data forwarding schemes, tailored for vehicular ad hoc networks. Nowadays GPS-based navigation systems are popularly used for providing efficient driving paths for drivers. With the driving paths called vehicle trajectories, we can make data forwarding schemes more efficient, considering the micro-scoped mobility of individual vehicles in road networks as well as the macro-scoped mobility of vehicular traffic statistics. This paper shows why the vehicle trajectory is a key ingredient in the design of the vehicle-to-infrastructure, infrastructure-to-vehicle, and vehicle-to-vehicle data forwarding schemes over multihop. Through the mathematical formulation, the key design techniques are shown for three forwarding schemes based on vehicle trajectory, compared with a state-of- the- art data forwarding scheme based on only vehicular traffic statistics.
